  1. How did she get spare nuts and bolts from the ride? Whenever I get around to going to Knoebel's (planned for next year), I'll have to avoid this ride. I don't want to have the ride cheat on its spouse with me! But then...
  2. Wow, I'm really glad I don't work in Admissions anymore if they are truly clearing the park. I really don't see this happening the way it was worded. It takes a long time to clear the entire park. And what do you give the guest who exited at 6:00 that will permit them back in at 7:00? Will their original ticket or season pass work again? I hope that Ryan (or whoever gave Ryan the information) worded the process incorrectly. If they push everyone out and have them re-enter, that's a logistical nightmare! I worked Admissions the first year of FearFest (and yes, as Terpy said, it was wildly successful). Everyone who purchased admission to FF on Saturdays was given a wristband. This wristband is what allowed people through the haunted attractions. No wristband, no entry to a haunt. I don't remember how they handled the rides (whether people could still ride during FF hours if they didn't have the wristband). They didn't really clear the entire park for FF, but handled it much like WDW handles their late EMH for the Disney resort guests. We did open the old season pass gate as an exit to the park due to the large number of people coming in through the front gate for FF. Anyone wanting to exit the park was directed to the SP gate. Wristbands were not only sold outside the gate at the ticket booths, but also at the Return Visit Booth near Keyhole Photo, and we even had our associates selling wristbands out of aprons throughout the park, in Coney Maul, etc.
  3. The Beast trains have never run backwards.
  4. All this talk about seatbelts... argh... don't give them any ideas! I know I'm not the only one on here nostalgic for the days of buzzbars and no seat dividers on Racer and Beast! So I have no problem with the openness of DB and its restraints. I love it!
  5. ^Then you'll have a 40 minute head start on me! You should be able to make it in that amount of time.
  6. To buy a pizza, of course! I lost a lens out of my prescription glasses on Face/Off. I filled out a Lost & Found card, but it was never recovered. I've lost my hat on Corkscrew, which I got back towards the end of the day. And my sunglasses came out of my hoodie pocket on Voyage this year. Luckily, I only buy cheap ones!
  7. ^Where do you go to school? I don't get off work until 5:00 and I head straight to the park for Haunt from there. Of course, I'm only driving from Pfeiffer Rd in Blue Ash, so it's a straight shot up 71 for me.
  8. So I'll be extra tired at my day job on the mornings of Friday Oct. 9th & 16, and Monday Oct. 12th & 19th from working Haunt the nights before. But it will be so worth it!
  9. What's the best attraction? Well, wherever I'm working of course! * My traditional faves have always been Trail of Terror and Massacre Manor. In recent years, Club Blood has joined them. Cemetary was pretty good last year, I jumped a few times in there. I enjoyed Cornstalkers in '07 when it was near BLSC, but I didn't get to do it last year. *DISCLAIMER: XGatorHead 8904 would like to express that despite the tone of his initial answer to the question posed by CoasterFreak45, he is not a conceited person. 10. Congratulations Kyle, Rotag & Agent SoB! I went to Human Resources on Sunday at about 4:00, and it was pretty dead in there...yes, pun fully intended! I'm not working Club Blood again this year. This time, I'll be in the new attraction. Since it hasn't been officially announced by the park I won't say what it is, but it should be pretty interesting!
  11. C'mon Kyle, no Club Blood? The Bouncer is sad now... Believe me, on those later weekends in October, it's nice to be inside! Pretty sure they won't hire 15 year olds to be a scaracter. And there were a couple of us (very few) in there last year who don't have what you would call a "good body". If you've seen me, you know what I mean! This past weekend, I was talking about Haunt with a friend of mine (he had worked in Security at the park for years). He brought up that working Haunt isn't really working... it's therapy! I have to agree with him... at my day job, I have to be nice to people 5 days a week for 52 weeks of the year. But for 6 weekends in the fall, I get to do the exact opposite!
  12. You brought up another aspect that I didn't, Rumor Smasher, and you make a good point. If I'm riding with my daughter, I don't want to be the chaperone for another kid I don't even know. Who knows what could happen, and if something awful did happen, don't look at me to be responsible for that kid! Buckeyemaniac, when you place a kid with a stranger, do you inform the stranger chaperone that they are now responsible for this other kid as well, or do you just have the kid sit on the ride? If you don't inform the stranger chaperone, then in the parent's mind the stranger is the chaperone but the stranger chaperone has no idea they've been put in charge of the welfare of the child. That's all kinds of wrong.
  13. The elephant has been much better this year than in years past. This year it's spray is like a light drizzle, whereas every other year since it was put in you got soaked.
  14. Wow, sounds like I may have to give RJ a shot. I ate there last year and it was just okay, but this seems like it's gotten a lot better. I had a rare meal in the park this past Sunday (ham and barbecue panini from Midway Treats & Eats) which was not very good, so hopefully Food Service is turning itself around one food stand at a time!
  15. ^For my car, they're one and the same! I don't know why I specified "ignition key".
  16. As the parent of a 4 year old, I agree with those that are outraged about this. I will not allow my daughter to ride with a complete stranger. She is allowed to ride with another adult, as long as I know that person (hence the reason I offered GatorGirl's company to Violakat and TomRandom#s to get that elusive...for them...LBGC credit. That is, as long as GatorGirl was willing to ride with them, since she can get shy around people she's just met). I would be put off if a ride op said to me that another person, a stranger, could act as the chaperone. I would flatly tell that ride op "no", and wait for the next cycle when I can ride with her. I probably wouldn't think to stop by GR, but after reading this topic, if I'm ever confronted with this situation (which I have not been yet), you can bet I'll make a stop there. I also have to agree with Rumor Smasher in questioning buckeyemaniac's training. So, buckeyemaniac, were you told during training that this was an acceptable practice, was it something you just determined yourself to be acceptable, or was it something your ride crew came up with as being okay? I'd really like to know, because if it was during training, that would indicate that it's acceptable to management to have complete strangers be reponsible for a kid's well-being... and that's not right in my mind!
  17. I agree with all the rides listed, but there are two that I haven't seen listed. Chaos is one of my favorite flats, and is a must ride for me... plus, who knows how much longer they'll keep it. Also, Wildcat is a fun little coaster. It doesn't look like much, but it's a great ride!
  18. When I go to the park and I'm not wearing cargo shorts, I take my ignition key off of the keychain, pull one end of my shoestring out of the first hole, put the key on the shoestring, place the shoestring back through the hole and tie the shoe back up (the whole reason for pulling the shoestring out of the hole first is in case your shoe happens to some untied, it's less likely to some off... kind of a secondary safety feature! ). This is an old trick I've used for years when I go kayaking, and I just recently adopted it for amusement parks as well.
  19. ^The sign shop is where all the signage for the park is designed and created. Last time I was in there (2004) there were many old signs from the park. It's neat to go in there and see some of the old signs from the old attractions. There's a lot of history in there. If you're into the history of the park, you'll like the sign shop.
  20. If you plan on going to any of those CF parks, a platinum pass is the way to go since they're also valid at other CF parks, whereas a gold pass is not.
  21. I always felt bad for scaring some of the kids that came in. As the father of a 4 year old, I know how it's hard for her to seperate fantasy from reality sometimes, so I feel for some of the kids that come through. It will be years before I bring GatorGirl to someplace like Haunt (says I, who took her onto Haunted Mansion at MK last year... figure that one out! ). But each parent is different, for good or bad. There are some kids that can take it and can have fun in the attractions, and some that are the same age that are clinging to the parents for dear life.
  22. But someone does care about those two! Viking Fury is GatorGirl's favorite ride in the park, and LBGC is her 2nd favorite coaster. I imagine those rides are very popular with the 40 - 42" population!
  23. So...... back on topic... GatorGirl and I got in line for Monster (no "The") at about 9:15 last night, and the lights on the ride were not on which I thought was unusual since it was pretty dark out and all the other rides in Coney had their lights on already. While we were in line, the ride started, and during the cycle the ride op said "Monster riders, if you want the lights turned on, scream as loud as you can at the count of three. 1, 2, 3." *riders scream* "That wasn't loud enough... 1, 2, 3." *riders scream louder* With that second scream, the ride op turned the lights on. GatorGirl and I were quite impressed with the sight.
  24. I was about to point this out too, but you beat me to it! At least they announced that it's closing so people can ride one last time, unlike certain other situations in recent years that come to mind. Anyone up for a roadtrip?
  25. I got a swarm of bugs in my face on Mean Streak years ago. And once in the front seat of The Beast during an evening ride, I had my mouth open while yelling as we started to enter the MCBR, and I felt something hit the back of my throat. I just looked at the incident as getting some extra protein in my diet!
