^Whether you'll freak out or not is a question only you can answer. Are you easily scareable? And yes, the park will allow you in, but the park does state that Haunt "is intended for mature audiences. Parents, please be advised."
-
I like the look of those contacts. But since I wear prescription contacts, I won't be buying any special ones for Haunt!
-
^The Haunt map indicates that Cut Throat Cove is on the patio of Outer Hank's. I second that! Last year I got in touch with one of Carowind's Club Blood employees. He sent me some pictures of their attraction, and I sent him pictures of ours. Almost everyone in their Club Blood was wearing masks... and some of them you could see their necks, which weren't painted in any way. If I remember correctly, he liked the look of our makeup better than their masks too. I'm looking forward to tomorrow to see CP's attractions, and how their scareacters look!

You are correct. That would be Milky Way: http://www.rcdb.com/1213.htm -
^Flight of Fear? Really?

No one's done KI's RIP tour yet. This is the first year it's been offered.

Hmmm... it's a tough call, but I'd have to say it's probably The Beast. Followed extremely closely by The Racer.
-
^I haven't either. No mailing, no emails, nothing. I first learned about it here, and then of course seeing the signs at the park and seeing it on the park's website. But if I were a normal SP holder, I probably wouldn't have known about it.

Hmmm... that's one way to put it. Thank you! I thought the story line was better in 2008 than in 2007. In '07, I didn't understand why there were nurses delivering vampire babies in a nightclub...

The best haunt to go through is Slaughter House. Why? Because I'm there! (Gee, it hasn't even opened, I haven't even stepped foot inside it yet, and I'm already saying it's the best... All I can say is, I already know one good surprise. That's all I'm sayin' for now...) But seriously, the three that top my list are Club Blood, Massacre Manor and Trail of Terror.

Coney Island Customer Appreciation Day
XGatorHead 8904 replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
^We're going to The Beach tomorrow (still have another set of free tickets to use). I wouldn't have minded going Sunday, but Mrs. Gator didn't want to swim with the dogs! -
Wait... do we know for sure that there won't be Marty's Party in the fall? If so, I feel bad for making GatorGirl miss it on Sunday! That and ESOI were her favorite shows.

Ugh... some of us have to wait until the 18th to get our Haunt fix on. Wait a minute, now my phone's ringing... That was strange. Now I got a creepy voice saying "Seven days", but in my case it was right. I told the creepy voice about your situation, and it asked me to apologize to you. It said that they've been swamped, they're behind on their calls and they must have forgotten to change it to six days in your case.

OMG... while doing The Beast walkback on Sunday, I was wondering what the music was. And now I come to find out I've had that song all along! I bought that soundtrack back when the movie was still in the theaters. I'll have to pull out that cd tonight, it's been awhile since I listened to it.

Coney Island Memories
XGatorHead 8904 replied to Shaggy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Wow... great TR! On our trip to the Philadelphia area last month, we were very seriously considering making a side trip to Coney Island to ride Cyclone and the Wonder Wheel. So serious, in fact, that I sat in the hotel's business center late at night mapping out the route from our hotel to Coney Island. But then we got to thinking about it... it would have been 1½ hours to get there, then that would have also increased the drive back home from 9 hours to 10½ hours... without stops (and believe me, the 9 hour drive was bad enough with a 4 year old, plus we didn't get home until 2:30am and had to work the next day ). So we stuck with our original plan of seeing the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. But reading your wonderful account of your visit makes me wish we had gone. We plan to make it to NYC one of these days and Coney is on our list of things to do while there. (BTW, we had a great time sticking to our original plan too!) -
Some of my best FF/Haunt memories are from working it. 1. Back when the the event was still FearFest, there was a small crew of us (3 people, including myself) that would go through each maze opening day before the park opened to clean up anything that had been left behind in the process of constructing the maze. The first year of PsychoPath (now Trail of Terror) we were walking through a few hours before it opened to the public for the first time. We got to the part where the "spiderwebs" hit you in the face. I quickly realized what was happening, but the other person that was with me kept swatting in front of her face and getting very annoyed that she was walking in front and running into all the spiderwebs. She finally realized that they were fake, but I had a good laugh! 2. The first few years of FearFest, there was a scaracter that worked there that had long reddish hair and wore a blue jumpsuit. We used to love watching him scare the crap out of people at the end of the night at the turnstiles. 3. When I finally got to be a scaracter last year, I had to take advantage of the Bengals' losing season. As The Bouncer at Club Blood, it was my job to make sure we had the "right type" of people coming into the club. Anytime someone came through wearing a Bengals item, I'd say, "Bengals? You're in... we love losers here!" The people loved that. 4. Similar to the Bengals line above, being a NASCAR fan I had to do something for that too. So anytime someone came in wearing a Kyle Busch item, I'd say, "Kyle Busch? Really? Well, at least it's not Jeff Gordon... get in there!" (I'd also do the same for someone wearing Jeff Gordon, but say "at least it's not Kyle Bush"). I said that to one woman who was wearing a Kyle Busch jacket. She stopped and said "I just have to give you a hug, that was so funny!" and she proceeded to hug me. Those are just some of the top FF/Haunt moments I can think of at the moment.

I was just down that way two weeks ago. We drove by Guntown Mountain on our way to Mammoth Cave.

Yes, I was! I was the one by myself because my friends went over to Boomerang Bay and left early. I think you actually sat at the same set of picnic tables as us at the picnic grove. We got there right when the grove opened. There were 6 of us (5 adults and my 4 yr old daughter). I was wearing my white KIC shirt with my username in BIG black letters on the back. You should have introduced yourself! If you're who I'm thinking of, you sat just to the right of me!

Confirmed Snoopy Coming to Kings Island...
XGatorHead 8904 replied to RailRider's topic in Kings Island
^Good one! Hopefully I don't already sound like a trombone to GatorGirl! -
rotag - I did see you while waiting for DB to come into the station. I was wearing my KIC shirt with my user name on the back, so Keith (I want to say KIFan1980 is his user name) introduced himself to me, and I made the comment that you had to be a KIC'er. He of course knew who you were. When our train was pulling into the station, I saw you, kiruler and violakat and waved. I would have joined you all, but I was there with my family (it was my sister and uncle's only visit for the year and they had a lot they wanted to do). But we got DB, Beast, FH & FoF in all in an hour, so it was good! Violakat was nice enough to text me when you all were at DT and that kjkjkj and Ashers were coming soon, but we were doing the KI Alumni Reunion's Beast walkback at the time. It would have been nice to join you all for a little bit, but we had so much going on that day. It sounds like you all had fun!

rcfreak - Did you go on Saturday or Sunday? If you went Sunday, were you wearing a gray Diamondback shirt?

Confirmed Snoopy Coming to Kings Island...
XGatorHead 8904 replied to RailRider's topic in Kings Island
There sure is: http://www.amazon.com/Peanuts-Valentine-Ch...p/dp/6303152821, and it's shown on TV every year. Poor Charlie Brown doesn't get any Valentine's Day cards, while everyone else gets tons of them. -
Confirmed Snoopy Coming to Kings Island...
XGatorHead 8904 replied to RailRider's topic in Kings Island
I put off reading the Nick U Becomes Planet Snoopy? topic until yesterday, because I knew it was going to be a very divisive topic. And then the same day I finally read it, the official announcement is made... I'm happy about the change. I like Nick and I like Peanuts (and of course I like HB). I know in the other topic there were a lot of naysayers who said that absolutely no kids know who Snoopy is. I'm here to say that kids do know. My wife and I grew up watching the Peanuts holiday specials, and we made darn sure that GatorGirl watched them too. The first toy I ever bought for her was a Snoopy doll wearing bunny slippers that said "My First Snoopy". I bought this for her at CP while Mrs. Gator was still pregnant with GatorGirl. I just remembered this yesterday while reading the other topic (I could never remember what exact year my last visit to CP was, but now that I remembered buying that toy I know now!). GatorGirl loves Snoopy and the rest of the gang. One of her favorite restaurants is Pizza Tower (one exit south of KI). While having dinner in their kids room last month, there was another family having dinner at the table next to us. They were looking at the Peanuts gang painted on the wall, naming all the characters. They could name all but one, and GatorGirl said to them "That's Marcy." We've been to a couple of parks that don't have TV characters in their kids areas. At Holiday World, GatorGirl didn't care about that. The rides kept her occupied. We didn't get to meet HoliDog that visit, but she was thrilled to get a card with his picture on it on our way out of the park. During our visit to Coney Island, she didn't ask about the lack of characters. HersheyPark is another place we visited that doesn't have TV characters. Again, it didn't matter to GatorGirl. She liked the unique characters they have there: the giant Hershey bar, Reese Cup, Twizzlers, Kit Kat, York Peppermint Patty, Milk Duds, etc. Even though she had never seen those characters before, she still ran up and hugged them. Which brings me to Nick U. Sure, she's seen Dora, Diego, Backyardigans, Spongebob, Rugrats, and Wild Thornberries on TV. But her first exposure to Little Bill and Hey Arnold was at KI as characters. And like at HersheyPark, she ran right up to them the first time she saw them. My point in all this is that kids are attracted to characters at parks, no matter if they've seen them before on TV or not. It will be interesting when I tell GatorGirl the news that the Nick characters won't be there next year, and I can't wait to see her reaction when I tell her that Snoopy and the gang will be there instead. I think she'll be excited. I wish I had a way to record her reaction and post it on here for you all to see when I tell her the news (my video camera's out of commission now). Anyone want to volunteer to document this event for me? She was fine at the beginning of this season when I told her that there wouldn't be a Dora show this year. And now Marty's Party is her favorite show there. Sure, the Peanuts gang might not have the everyday exposure that the Nick characters have, but they have stood the test of time. And it's nice to have characters at our home park that are known (not that I would mind giant Hershey bars, or a HoliDog!). The only thing I'm upset about is losing Scooby, if that does in fact come to fruition (yes, I did see it on the announcement... I'm just in denial!). Having grown up in the 70's and 80's, I grew up on HB, and grew up seeing them at KI every year. To see the last vestiges of HB removed from the park deeply saddens me. As those very few of you who saw my office at KI when I worked there know, I love Scooby! I was even upset when the park changed from Scooby Bucks to Dora Dollars. I'm sure there will be kids upset at losing Nick. But they'll get over it. They're more resilient than some people give them credit for. So to you parents that have kids that don't know Snoopy and the gang, here's your chance! We're coming up on prime Peanuts viewing... next month ABC will show "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", then the following month will be their Thanksgiving special (Snoopy fighting with the chair and fixing popcorn, toast, jelly beans and pretzels...it's classic!), a month after that will the Christmas special (they usually show this one twice during the month), two months after that will be the Valentine's Day special, then a month after that will be "It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown". That's five Peanuts specials all before the start of KI's next season! So you'll have no excuse in April if you say "My kids don't know them!" (This isn't directed to you kittenpooh... just everyone who has said it already or may say it in the future, and I say it lightheartedly, of course). -
Article: Save Money at Kings Island
XGatorHead 8904 replied to wherespiritsroam's topic in Kings Island
I have to take issue with this: Be very careful if you decide to do this. Some coupons available may be expired. Some people even sell tickets on EBay, but there's no guarantee that those tickets are actually valid and have not been previously used.
