when does KI see attendance drop with school starting
XGatorHead 8904 replied to lance99's topic in Kings Island
WHAT?!?!? What kind of schedule is her school on? I've never heard of such a thing! Gator, glad that the school system that GatorGirl will start attending in a year doesn't go back until late August. -
And Rick Wallenda's walk was only 112' high last year. Nik is going over double that height! EDIT: I just read in another topic that Rick's walk was 60' high. 112' seemed a little high to me because I thought he started from the 50' platform of ET. I got the 112' from the press release for last year's walk.

I expected a completely different list. Parks like Holiday World, Lakemont Park, Idlewild, Canobie Lake, etc... you know, smaller parks. I agree with others, this was just a list of big parks outside of Orlando... without Six Flags in their name.

Last week, on several nights, I dreamt that I was working Haunt. I can't remember much specifically, just that I was working the same spot I did last year and scaring people. I'm sure I dreamt that because I turned in my application last week, plus I've been thinking a lot about some changes that I'm planning to make soon to my personal appearance for Haunt.

Trail of Terror and Massacre Manor have been two of my favorites for years. Then Club Blood came along, and that has since topped my favorites list!

Luckily I haven't had any problems with my daughter not wanting to ride anything. GatorGirl is ready for any ride. I've even asked her if she would wide Diamondback, and she said "YES!" But she knows that she has to wait, because she is only 4½ years old and 41". She usually follows up the "YES!" with "Maybe when I'm 8. Or 9. Or maybe even when I'm 7!"

I only bring my camera to the park the first time I go for the season and the last time I go for the season - usually opening day and the final day! When visiting other parks with the family, we always have our camera (except for waterparks!).

Sorry to hear about that, pcc. That group is d*mn lucky that it wasn't my kid they knocked over! We had our souvenir cup stolen at Boomerang Bay last year. We had it under our towel on our chair and somebody took it. It was the only thing missing. Who would do that?

I have a problem with Diamondback......

The even numbered rows are not any more forgiving than the odd numbered rows. As a rather large guy, and after 40 rides on DB, I can attest to that. I've found that the best way is to sit as far back in the seat as possible, and then, like pkiruler, I basically slam the restraint down onto my legs. I've had enough practice doing that so I almost always get it right, and I can tell just by the feel if I don't. When I don't, the ride ops are usually helpful in getting that last click in. -
But that's where your wrong, nothing like that happened at Kings Island. It all happened at Kings Dominion. Our King Cobra never de-railed. And, it was in West Virginia, not Missouri. See Monroe's post here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=224702, and WooferBear's post immediately following it.

Good luck Jasper! Being a scaracter is lots of fun. It was something I had always wanted to do since the first year of FearFest, but I was busy with another department in the park at the time. I finally did it last year and had a blast. My biggest tip: wear comfortable shoes!

What is this "Pepsi" that you speak of, and where can I find it in the park? Gator, who just HAD to...
-
There were the animal keeper in the Wild Animal Habitat, Tower Johnny, the three in one day (aka Black Sunday) that you mentioned, and an employee who was struck and killed by lighting in the parking lot in 1989. Six that I can recall off the top of my head.
-
do you really want me to answer that O:) oh and btw... called the park today to have them change my app from summer work to haunt and uncle henry turned his in today! YAY!!! *goes to find a countdown for Haunt* I just submitted mine online about 10 minutes ago. Gator, resisting the very strong urge to change my avatar to the Zombie Gator picture again... I'll wait a little while longer.

I sweat a lot too, so I know what you go through! The lines with the most shade are Crypt, FoF and Scooby Doo & The Haunted Castle. Sorry, I just had too... The most shaded outdoor queue is Whitewater Canyon, but the ride gets you soaked. Wild Thornberries doesn't get you too wet, and The Racer and Beast lines are pretty good for shade. As far as AC, take in a showing of Endless Summer on Ice in the Kings Island Theater, or one of the shows in Festhaus. You can also duck into one of the shops for a quick hit of AC. And yes, you can get free cups of water at the food stands. Have fun and stay cool!

^Oh... I get it now... I just had to read your name a different way. Gator, realizing that there are now two gators on here... me, and a mirror image. Does that make you my evil twin? Or am I the evil twin?
-
Already being discussed here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...30&start=30

^The Human Resources office, which is located to the right of the front gate. If you're in the parking lot and looking towards the park, to the right of the front gate area is a security gate/employee's entrance and just to the right of that is Human Resources, kind of near the VIP and associate parking areas. And rotag, about your "From" comment under your avatar... what exactly does that mean? You're making me self-conscious! Gator, suddenly wondering if I swagger whenever I'm at the park!
-
You're better off asking Human Resources, since they coordinate the applications, hiring, etc. And while I was looking at the park's website, I happened across this: http://www.visitkingsisland.com/jobs/jobs_....cfm?emp_id=546. Apparently applications are already being accepted for scaracters.

Cedar Fair looking to layoff spongebob and friends
XGatorHead 8904 replied to Mr.Smiley's topic in Kings Island
Well, Carowinds, California's Great America, Kings Dominion and Canada's Wonderland would beg to differ... as would Nickelodeon Universe in Minnesota! -
Let's hope I do. I've recounted my tale of disappointment at CP many times here, but that occured in 2003 or 2004... whichever year it was that Intamin tightened their restrictions. That was the last time I've tried to ride an Intamin coaster... until next month. If I don't fit, at least this time I'll have a more positive attitude about it than I did at CP (since I now know why the changes were made, and I didn't when I walked up to Millie that day years ago). There's plenty of other rides I can fit on at Hersheypark!
-
That's not true. KI will start taking applications for Haunt soon, most likely in August. Keep an eye on their website (and probably here) for details.
-
As much as I love Millie, I can do without an Intamin at KI. I wouldn't want a coaster I can't fit on at my home park! It's bad enough I can't fit on Drop Zone anymore... unless I have two wonderful people assisting me with the OTSR! Now, if I'm able to squeeze into Fahrenheit and Storm Runner next month, I might change my tune! Those will be the first Intamin coasters I've tried to ride in years.

I love Skyflyer! Definitely worth $5-$10... and much better than Slingshot IMO. Slingshot's okay, but I get more freaked out by "unsupported" heights, which is why I find Skyflyer more thrilling. In Slingshot I feel restrained and secure, but on Skyflyer you're out in the open and looking straight down as the ground creeps away from you... and then the ground decides to change direction and come at your face extremely fast!

Last fall it was $84.99 for adult, $69.99 for Junior/Senior. What the prices will be this fall, only a very select few know now (and no, I'm not one of those select few!). Not bad. I know prices fluctuate, just wanted a good idea We'll be renewing this fall for sure. I interview for the RN program next week, and if I get in, there will be no 'vacation' for us next summer...so we'll have to make due with long weekends. And yep, what better place to do so than at the Island? It is a good price. Considering I've been 10 times so far (and I'm not done yet!), that works out to $8.50 admission per visit at this point.
