  1. Valravn's trains are using the vest restraints, and I imagine ten seats with those restraints would be too wide.
  2. I saw someone get denied a ride on Maverick for being too tall. When seated, it looked as if their entire head was above the headrest. If the ride ops didn't catch that I can't imagine the ride would have been too comfortable.
  3. There are several other restaurants on the Cedar Point property that gets you out of the heat (Famous Dave's, Bay Harbor, Chickie's and Pete's, the restaurants at Hotel Breakers, Chuck Wagon, Johnny Rockets, Joe Cool Cafe...). Whether there is space available inside and you want to spend top dollar for grease is another story entirely. I do agree though, the general lack of indoor attractions, whether dark ride or theater venues, is seriously annoying.
  4. Wonderland does that 3 or 4 times a day with their upgraded fountains. Snoopy stands at the front of the fountain pool, dressed as an orchestra conductor, and "conducts" the fountains to music.
  5. I felt that way about Hershey's ZooAmerica. The size of some of the animal enclosures was... appalling.
  6. Head banging? Iron Dragon? I don't think I rode the same coaster, then... I find it really relaxing.
  7. Just an FYI, Wonderland's admission tickets and passes are subject to Ontario's Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) which is 13%. You'll also pay that tax on merchandise bought in the park and most food.
  8. Niagara Falls (specifically the Niagara River) empties Lake Erie into Lake Ontario...
  9. Yup, that's the room! You would have been the guest directly after me, since I checked out on Thursday. Small world, eh?
  10. I was at Breakers last week as well, coincidentally also in a fifth floor rotunda room (room 5318). The renovations were absolutely fantastic and having that whole 'premium resort' feel just takes the Cedar Point experience to another level. I just wish the rooms had coffee makers, it feels a bit strange to provide a mini fridge and microwave but not such a basic hotel amenity. Couldn't agree more with this. Hopefully they don't lose focus over the years, and that goes for both service and general property upkeep. With much of the furniture being bright white, I worry that it will be too easy for things to start looking crappy after a few years of wear and tear.
  11. But it doesn't have to be. And considering recent trends toward more healthy, natural eating, it really shouldn't be. And as for quality and speed of service, just this past weekend I was at NJFTP. Went to the "Macho Nacho" place next to El Toro and had my food ordered, freshly prepared, and delivered to my table in under 10 minutes. For a busy Saturday, I was amazed.
  12. I don't know about other Gerstlauer coasters, but I know Smiler itself has had some issues in the past.
  13. If you're going to stay at Breakers Express, you might need two rooms to comfortably accommodate 7 people which sort of negates the whole "discount" aspect of that property. A Lighthouse Point cabin can sleep 8 people and split 7 ways will cost $50/night. Its also a really awesome place to stay and you don't have to worry about parking.
  14. The Amusement Dark logo is on Guardian's ride page as well.
  15. This is probably the most pleasantly surprising thing about the entire renovation, for me at least. I thought for sure the room rates would go up substantially. It's made choosing between Lighthouse Point or Hotel Breakers a bit harder for the next trip.
  16. What's with the squealing sound at the 2:47 mark? Is that normal for B&Ms?
  17. I think it might be the other way around actually. If I remember correctly the Discovery Channel show from long ago about Tatsu's construction and testing, B&M will start with a hard wheel compound and then slowly swap out the wheels for softer ones until the trains are running the circuit at the proper design speed and time.
  18. My (limited) understanding is that they are not the same. HFCS would be listed as glucose-fructose on the ingredients list.
  19. I just looked at the ingredient list on my bottle of Heinz up here in the Great White North. Interestingly, it doesn't have high fructose corn syrup but liquid sugar instead. Now I'm curious to taste test both the American and Canadians Heinz ketchups to see if there is any discernible difference.
  20. Canada's Wonderland: https://www.canadaswonderland.com/what-s-new/new-for-2015-typhoon-splash-station
  21. The way the article reads, it seems like it was simply trying to give a general sense of the parking lot's location within the city. The Sun is the worst newspaper in Toronto, though, so bad writing and ambiguity don't surprise me.
