  1. The re-paint is pretty much complete. There are some more recent photos here. I actually quite like it. I've always thought the highlighter yellow supports and dark purple track colour scheme (Wildcat, Boomerang) looked horrific.
  2. I really liked Viper a lot when I visited, but I've heard that it's really a hit or miss sometimes. I also totally forgot about Whizzer. Such a wonderful classic coaster!
  3. Six Flags Great America is a decent park but I find it really is a "regional" park in the sense that, while no coaster is necessarily bad, there isn't anything particularly noteworthy either. It does have the advantage of being near Chicago (which is a city I very much enjoyed visiting), but if this is solely a coaster trip I'd say go to Cedar Point. However, if you were asking between Cedar Point and Great Adventure, then I'd have a much harder time deciding between the two...
  4. I agree with this. I think both parks are different enough and far enough from each other that they both have their own market areas. But at some point these market areas intersect and overlap, and if the two parks were able to operate in some sort of pseudo-competitive way it would be nothing but good for the parks and Cedar Fair.
  5. Canada's Wonderland does not, and I don't recall ever having, a Gold Pass option. The regular pass had always included perks like food and merch discounts, early entry and ERT even in the Paramount days. The regular pass doesn't include parking though, there's an optional add-on for that.
  6. He answered the only question in this thread at the time of his post, the one in your original post.
  7. It will be interesting to see what kind of overhaul they have in store, as Canada's Wonderland's fountain lighting was upgraded to LEDs when Starlight Spectacular debuted only a few seasons ago...
  8. Do you realize how long this path would be?? Exactly! You'd be able to get to X-base in the same amount of time by going around through Coney Mall. Why anyone would think this is a good idea is beyond me.
  9. Doesn't look like like any new B&M coasters are headed to KI for 2013. You must be happy about that...
  10. Wow, it's not even the offseason yet.
  11. Google says it would take me 9 hours 25 minutes, but I've made it in just under 8.5 hours.
  12. Why would you put that on iFunny...nobody understands it... -44 dislikes... Even if the context is understood it is a truly dreadful misuse of the meme.
  13. Profit is revenue less costs. The two should not be used interchangeably as they are very different things.
  14. Pretty sure he meant Jeff as in Putz, operator of Coasterbuzz.
  15. Pretty much this. Heck, based on what I've experienced KI's Planet Snoopy isn't even the best in the chain.
  16. The trains were solid colors prior to the "reptile skin" sticker being added.
  17. Ah, there's nothing more refreshing on a hot summer's day, than a swim in the park's Tidal Wave Bay! Because nothing compares to being in a lukewarm soup, of worn-off band-aids and icky guest poop.
  18. The new Knott's ad is pretty great as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8VDqxRV-m8
  19. Any Idea how Canada's Wonderland does there Fast Lane? I'm going there later this summer. Wonderland has been constantly tweaking it throughout the season to get the best balance of Fast Lane users and regular guests. I haven't used Fast Lane yet, but based on what I've seen during my multiple visits, Fast Lane users are held back before entering any coaster station. When it comes time to let more guests into the station, the attendant will usually split it up about 1/3 Fast Lane users and 2/3 regular line. Sometimes more, sometimes less all depending on the number of guests in each queue. The Fast Lane queue for Leviathan on some of the busier days so far has reportedly been 15-20 minutes (compared to a 90-120 minute wait in the regular queue). Just an update: I used Fast Lane this past weekend at Wonderland and pretty much everything I wrote earlier can be confirmed. It's not so much a "line skipping" system as much as it is a "line reduction" system, as you'll still have to wait a few cycles on average before getting on the ride. Leviathan's Fast Lane queue was extending down the stairs, making the wait just over 10 minutes. Ditto with Behemoth. Overall, if you're planning a trip to CW this summer Fast Lane is essential if you want to get a lot of riding in. Based on the crowds I've seen the past few visits, the park is going to be completely packed this summer.

  21. Yesterday CWMania just had their "Leviamania" event at Canada's Wonderland, and an interest piece of information was revealed regarding Cedar Point and Raptor: http://themeparkrevi...185321#p1185321 It makes me wonder whether Paramount had intended to build a B&M invert for Kings Island as well but ultimately had to scrap the idea. Hmmm...
  22. The park opens May 6th, and there are buyout days on April 28th and 29th, as well as on May 5th. The first ride auction was today so that the auction winners were the first public riders.
  23. So give people a free "cool down" to promote an attraction they have to pay more for as well as get back into the heat they were trying to escape? I'm not too sure about that spin. Moral of the story: complainers gonna complain.
