  1. Is this a bad joke? A typo? I seriously had to read your post a few times over before it registered in my head.... Cedar Fair continues to surprise me, and not in a good way.
  2. Sit-down, table service restaurants work well at other parks, I don't see why Kings Island would be any different.
  3. I didn't enjoy Racer going backwards - and that was about 50 mph. The idea of being launched 100 miles per hour backwards just screams PAIN to me. Will be interesting to see the initial reviews. Judging by the videos I'm watching of Dreamworld's Tower of Terror (which was recently turned backwards), it doesn't seem like the launch on Superman will be too bad.
  4. There are still many shows around the country that use manual, electronic firing systems (one such system can be seen here: ). Most "pyro musicals" use software and everything is already set up to go at certain intervals, so as DeLorean Rider mentioned, the pyrotechnicians sit back and monitor that everything is going smoothly.
  5. Yeah! Maybe the park can promote it by saying things like "WHO'S READY TO SEE A HOOKER BLEED?" Just kidding....I hope.
  6. Ditto. I almost thought it was a thread created by a spambot until I saw others were posting in it.
  7. I assume "John H." is referring to John Hildebrandt, Cedar Point's general manager.
  8. I'm sure Cedar Fair's lawyers would not be pleased with that.
  9. What's the point of going on vacation if you bring all that crap with you? Might as well stay home.
  10. B&M's last new, custom invert opened in 2007 ( http://www.rcdb.com/3935.htm ), so I highly doubt B&M would be objective to the idea. Parks are still buying them, and it's still offered on their catalog of coasters (at least it is on their site). I think you're really off the mark here, especially with your comment regarding B&M's engineering staff, but perhaps somebody with more knowledge in this area can enlighten us (Terpy???).
  11. If the interest rates are higher, doesn't that mean they'll just end up paying more in the long run? Will this have a negative effect on the company's financial state in the long term?
  12. If I'm not mistaken, that looping coaster was previously Laser at Dorney Park. That's pretty cool you were there to see it, and experience a German fair! At one time, The Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto had a Schwarzkopf looping coaster...Unfortunately, those days are long gone.
  13. Why does Kinzel himself always comment to the media on what's happening at Cedar Point? Sometimes you'd think the park doesn't have its own GM or PR...
  14. If Disney builds a new park in Florida, I'm hoping there will be more original concepts rather than just movie rides. As great as Disney's movie-themed attractions are, there's something special about going into a ride with totally unique characters and stories.
  15. What, may I ask, do you think of Carowinds' Intimidator? After all, that particular ride has two sets of trims and a mid course brake...
  16. Prowler and Diamondback are two completely different rides with different manufacturers and restraint/seat designs. You can't really fairly compare them. Now, if say Intimidator or Apollo's Chariot only required one click, THEN I would be complaining...
  17. I think it's very interesting to hear that Cedar Point has yet again shortened the belts, because I can't help but wonder how many Cedar Fair higher-ups can't even fit on their own rides.
  18. No? I don't recall experiencing any negative G's on my way up the tower....
  19. Absolutely! I know I mention Canada's Wonderland a lot (it's my home park), but it fits with this description so well. There are so many restaurants literally just across the street, and if you've been to CW you know how easy it is to walk to those restaurants from the parking lot. During the lunch and dinner hours there's usually a good number of park guests eating across the street (you can tell because CW uses handstamps...) Why pay high prices when you can walk to a Wendy's or Tim Horton's in about five minutes? Heck, with the urban sprawl around the park some guests can walk home in less than a half hour.
  20. Terpy, a few days ago I asked a friend of mine who works at Canada's Wonderland how the park teaches employees to deal with line jumpers. Basically, he said it's not a rule employees need to enforce, but merely a 'common courtesy' and should be dealt with at the ride op's/attendant's discretion...I imagine there is similar ideology for the smoking policy. "It's a rule, but not really..."
  21. We do? I've never seen it before...
  22. I have Windows 7, and RCT3 + both expansion packs work just fine. You can find a pretty big list of custom scenery here: http://www.rct-theme-world.de/rct-liste/complete-list.htm but it hasn't been updated in a while.
  23. Thinking optimistically here, maybe this means the new website layout is almost ready and a there will be a new blog there.
