i think those piles are used by landscaping or someone. i've seen mulch piles from the ride in years past.

Soft Tops on I305?
My friends in Virginia are telling me that the test seats for I305 now have soft restraints them. Rumor is the ride may get them.

New Trims on I305
some call tunnel vision bad, i call it fun. it was surprising how smooth it was for how fast it was moving and how many g's it was pulling. ha, the ride had 1 tunnel (from the riders perspective). I thought they could just slow don the lift hill 10mph at the crest. It's already going like 17mph into the drop.

New Trims on I305
my friends just said the same thing too, he's going to the park to check it out. shame shame shame. also glad i got to ride it trimless too. hopefully this is just a temporary fix until they can change it some other way somehow.

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
Son of Beast is a marvel. It's problems mainly come in how cheaply the builder constructed it. I believe the ride is strong now in it's former configuration. After multiple inspections and added bracing it should be. I agree with grandsonofbeast here. If you've ever stood down in the middle of the ride and just take in everything..... it's simply awe inspiring! There are larger rides out there, but SOB has soo much more to its structure.

Love Rollercoaster
Just learned that the song "Love Rollercoaster" which we heard every night last year at KI is by a band called the Ohio Players who formed in Dayton, Ohio ..... kinda cool

That would just make the track even heavier and dangerous. The first accident was when a ride support snapped because the trains were to heavy. Hybrid tracks for Son of Beast will not do much good. and around 8 layers of wood is lighter than a hollow box made of steel? i think they would be similar in weight.

Random Opening Day Thoughts
i think it's the manufacturer that operates the eurobobbles, unlike the eurobunge from last year. so any complaints should be directed at the company and not the ki ride ops

One firm’s proposal was unsatisfactory, he said, and he is waiting for the others."

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
You can add me to that list. SOB never did cause me any issues, and I usually rode in the very back seat!! If it eventually re-opens, I'll be on it. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Mr. Kinzel, tear this woodie down. Sorry, this is the 1 and only thing at KI I am truly evil about. I don't care what they invest into it. I will never ride that thing again. so, if on the off chance a rehab makes it the number 3 rated wooden coaster on the planet... you still wouldn't ride it?

Sigma Sigma Coaster
After seeing the no limits topic I thought I'd post this. This is a coaster I designed for a club at UC called coaster cats. It would go in Sigma Sigma commons on campus. The name of the ride is Queen City Flyer. Let me know what you think about the layout, etc. The lines on the ground represent paths or boundaries and the trains would be similar to maverick trains.

who would want g-trains anyway?

Tests would start late march early april, but if SOB was to go from SBNO to operating I'd imagine we'd see tests sooner. Which at this point doesn't look like anything will happen. I doubt we see anything happen this year. When the ride went down last year I don't think the park had enough time to put any significant repairs (as in more than 06/07 work) into the budget for this year. If the ride is going to reopen I'd expect to see it open next year. If it doesn't open then, then the ride has run out of all hope.

The Timberliners Poll
Do i think SOB will get timberliners in it's current state? no Do i think SOB will get timberliners after a GG overhaul? possibly GG did consulting on SOB after the 2006 incident, so they know the ride. If they are given free reign to modify the ride how they want I'd imagine they would put their trains on the ride. If they were to modify/ alter the rosebowl the ride would be so much less of a risk. I'd imagine the park would think of changing the rides name though. A lot of people now know that people keep suing the park because of SOB. X became X2, Steel Phantom became Phantom's Revenge, what will SOB become if they changed the name? That's if the ride reopens.

I think an iron horse track with steel structure would fare nicely in the rose bowl. If you fix the roughness there you fix a majority of the ride. I think the park would like to fix more than just some 500-700ft of track, but it'd be a cheaper fix to at least get the ride back up and operating with a more desirable ride experience.
