As sad as I am to see this ride go the possibilities it opens up are incredible. A few pages back someone posted about a new record breaking woodie to replace the loss. With what's going on out at Silver Dollar City right now, I can't WAIT to see what happens!

I wasn't sure exactly where to put this so here is where it landed. Anyway, I'm a little perplexed. I'm going to Kings Dominion tomorrow for the first time and am super excited. I called both Kings Island and Kings Dominion about 3 weeks ago asking if I could upgrade my KI gold pass to a platinum at KD. Both parks said yes, they will just need to verify that I am a pass holder. I called yesterday, already at Virginia beach mind you, KD told me it had to be done at my home park and KI is maintaining that it is still possible to upgrade here. Anyone have any input on this? Also, is the easy pay plan offered in the parks or no?

Oh, gotcha! I didn't think of it that way. I guess with the Disaster Transport discussion I just got hung up on that. My apologizes, Carry on.

You sort of just contradicted yourself. As you just said, this is likely not a Ouimet plan. Also, this has been rumored for quite some time. I am thrilled to see this plan come to fruition. If Ouimet did get involved, I'm really hoping there was some theming added to this like KIBOB said above. I'm over the Cedar Fair Buy it, build it, profit deal.

So, I'm taking my girlfriend to Virginia Beach/Kings Dominion from 6/11 to 6/15 as an Ohio University graduation gift. We will be there all day on the 14th, which is a Thursday so I'm hoping the crowds will be light. Does anyone have any recommendations/advice on the best way to enjoy the park? Neither of us have been. Also, what would be a decent hotel on the cheap in the area?

Alright, I about to leave and make the 2 hour drive...I'm beginning to think this isn't worth it.

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
catzdrummer09 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Vertical Construction is starting right now. They're moving the first piece into place! -
Guys, I've been reading through the last couple of pages and it seems like some of you are forgetting about some things. The first being that Don said that whatever this new attraction is will be set in a "Fantastic outdoor setting". Not to mention the fact that the planning area we see is clearly outdoors and trees are apparently being marked. This, to me, says they're not promoting an Action Theater Revamp. Also, the above facts also seem to indicate that this has nothing to do with SOB. And the other thing is the speculation involving dinosaurs. It clearly involves dinosaurs, or at least something from Prehistoria. If you look in the right side of the mud on the homepage banner, you will see the scales that stick up and run down the back and tail of a dinosaur. They're upside down but they're there. Just my two cents
-
And if you look in the right side of the animated banner on the page there are dinosaur scales like ones you would see down the tail.

Hey, I don't know whether or not it's been reposted again as I didn't take the time to review the last few pages. But the banner is up again. IGNORE THIS POST! kthx.

...I've never noticed it... hmmm.

Kaman's is the art shoppe that supplies the caricature artists and photographers at Kings Island. They were probably talking about moving a stand back there...

Halloween Haunt to Feature Half-Pint Brawlers
catzdrummer09 replied to Kirk Sheppard's topic in Kings Island
^ I just looked for the "like" button on this... Too much time of Facebook. -
So. I just noticed this. If you go to the WindSeeker page and look in the photo gallery... The third picture sort of shows it's location. If the photos are correct, which I assume they are, it will be sitting next to The Racer and Eurobobbles as opposed to where it's positioned on the map.

Unfortunately, the one across from Breakers Express. I almost climbed across the counter after the cashier that was too busy chatting up some guy about a text message she sent him....

We got to the park pretty early. Around 9:15 I believe, and waited in the huge crowd of people which seemed exceptionally rude. People were pushing, I got hit with some girls shoe, it was a mess. It was the Peanuts 60th Anniversary thing and everyone sang to them right before they dropped the ropes, at which point you know what happened. First we rode Millenium. My how I missed this ride... No words for this beautiful piece of machinery. After that was Mantis. Ugh, where to begin? I want to like this ride so badly but I just can't let myself. It hurts my legs and makes me so sick and delirious. I just wish it wasn't a stand-up. Would it be possible to convert it to a floorless or something? I don't know...just curious. After that, we rode Maverick. I absolutely LOVE this ride. Intamin really hit the nail on the head with this one. It's THE most intense coaster I've ever experienced and gets better with each ride. After this I believe we agreed it was lunch. McDonald's was the destination. Upon returning we were, to put it politely, bombed by a seagull. All four of us. Yeah... Anyway, we went to Raptor to find the usual wait time. Okay, story time. While waiting, we were approached by a guy in his early 20's I'd say. 3 of the 4 of us were wearing Ohio University something-or-other and this guy noticed. He came up to us and asked if we went to OU. I replied, "Yes." and that was the end of that. I thought. About four switchback's later the guy finally says, "You ALL go to OU?" The 3 of us wearing OU reply, "Yeah, why?" He says, "Well, my friend and I wer just curious......(silence).....Do you think it would be worth it to drive from Toledo to Athens for Halloween?" Of course I said, "I've lived there for 18 years and have only gone once. But, we ARE party school number 2 so, if you're a partier I'd say you'll have a good time... People have driven further." And that was the end of that. This absolutely drives me INSANE that the whole, "Ohio University Halloween Block Party" thing is inescapable. Not to mention our infamous fest season where there's a block party every weekend from like, April to the beginning of June. /Rant. Back to Raptor. As always, it was enjoyable. I love the ride up until the break-run. I just get dizzy after that. Unless I'm in the front and can see the whole thing. After Raptor, we walked back to see what all the fuss was about over Shoot the Rapids. We started to get in line but then saw that people were absolutely drenched and just watched for a few seconds. It's really well themed and a pretty fun ride to just watch. Didn't get to experience it though, not one for water rides. Then we rode Skyhawk. Kings Island NEEDS THIS. Badly. It doesn't look like much but boy it packs a punch. Another ride that gets me everytime. After Skyhawk we went over to Top Thrill Dragster. (sigh). Disappointment. We waited the hour and a half for it and we finally arrive in the station. Our friends decide to take a shorter line but my girlfriend and I wait it out for the front. With a 3 train wait left, it goes down... and stays there... all day. Of course it came back up later and rolled back 5 TIMES... count them 1,2,3,4,5!!!! I was upset that I was not involved in this. After that it was closed and didn't reopen. After our unsuccessfulness at TTD we jumped over to the fifteen minute wait for Magnum. First of all, I hate this station...hate, hate, hate. Always have, always will. Anywho, great ride each and every time. Except the bunny hills at the end. I am a male. Those hills and I don't mix. Especially when the lapbar ratchets all the way down from the forces. :/ After that I believe my girlfriend and I went back to Maverick for a night ride. Woah...incredible. It's even crazier in the dark!!!! I laughed the whole entire time. Another thing that Kings Island could use. A Maverick style coaster. Being that it was dark we decided to walk back to the front through the Starlight Experience. I couldn't believe my eyes. The light show was absolutely stunning! I didn't know where to look and I loved the soundtrack. It honestly left me speechless. I don't know what crap Cedar Fair ist trying to pull at Kings Island but ours doesn't hold a candle to wait they've got going on at Cedar Point. Absolutely beautiful! Overall, it was a great day at Cedar Point! That park was pretty busy but we still had a good time and rode everything we'd set out to. Can't wait for the next trip!

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
catzdrummer09 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
At risk of sounding stupid.... With all the talk of a possible removal of the rose bowl and extending the coaster from there, I have to ask. What is the design purpose of the rosebowl? I always assumed that since it IS Son of Beast they were just trying to do the double helix thing on a larger, more intense scale. Is this the case or is it there just because? I'm asking because I was wondering, if this was indeed the purpose, if they will maybe change the name of the ride once the RUMORED reconstruction is done? I just assumed that the rose bowl and the double helix are what they were using to tie the two rides together, you know? After that there won't be any similarities in them at all. Or maybe I'm completely wrong and it was Stengel just doing whatever... :/ -
Snoopy Turns 60
catzdrummer09 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wonder if this will influence park attendance... I'm heading up Sunday. * sigh * -
Coming from an 18 year old, I hate a majority of everything the people my age do. You think you look cool because you cuss, flip people off, drink, etc. No you just look stupid. I go to Ohio University as well, so I see the whole underaged drinking thing all the time. It's just sad because I know I was raised better than that. EDIT: And replying to everything with "Your face......" or "Your Mom......". DRIVES ME INSANE! Example, "Your shoes are untied." "Your FACE is untied." OH, and since we were discussing old fads earlier... Giga-Pets, that is all.

Six Flags and their advertising... It kills me. Anyway, the park looks great! I've been talking about going out there for a while now... Maybe I'll actually pony up the money and make the trip! Edit: And I LOVE the "Kingda Freakin' Ka" Shirt in the window... I kinda want it and I've never even been there.

...was that a Finding Nemo reference?

We have a couple of outdoor adventure parks where I'm from. One of which is currently expanding and upon parks completion, this record will be blown out of the water. Hocking Peaks Adventure Park is expanding massively. And once it's complete, they will have the longest zip line in North America. It will be one mile from end to end, and will be ridden in a "Superman" position and will reach speeds of 100 mph. They are also adding a few other things to their park, which are pretty unique really. Check it out here in a local paper The Athens News The Link should take you directly to the article.

If you make that argument, then I could see it as a valid point. I still don't feel that it is really a failure though. When it get's to the point that they just say, "You know what, we cannot possibly do anything else to this thing to make it work" then I'll agree. Is it a HUGE issue they have on their hands? Definitely. However, CF knew this and proceeded with the purchase anyway. It has tons of potential, just a lot of uncertainty from the owners as well. And just for the record, I am not a fanboy. I highly enjoy the ride but there are other coasters that take precedence.
