I still do not understand why you insist on being so pessimistic all the time towards a ride. Okay, you don't like it, we get it. I also do not understand how it constitutes a failure. Roughness, on a wooden coaster? Never. Just doesn't make sense. There are those who find it's roughness fun and there are those who do not and avoid it. Clearly, you do not, ergo, avoid it. Modifications? Hello, it's called change. You can't tell me you leave something as it was when you realize, "Oops, that didn't go exactly as planned." And, if you wan't a similar example. Let's take a look at China shall we? Steel Dragon 2000 was closed for 2 seasons due to an injury caused by a train losing a wheel. Not to mention, the thing already cost $50 Mil. EDIT: Also, allow me to revert you back to CincyMan's post a couple pages ago. Example number 2. And you mentioned it being a disappointment due to downtime back in 2000. It's inaugural season. It's brand new. It's going to have problems. Take for example...just about every Intamin on that peninsula jutting into Lake Erie...including STR. Let's face it. Accidents happen and mistakes are made. Which is when you stand back, take a look and revamp. To say that such a ride is a failure, I believe, is false. It just needs the proper renovations made to make it into what it could be.

Cedar Point Ticket Prices

The code would still have to be in Meijer's system...oh well. Their problem. -

You would think that the code wouldn't even register within the Meijer system then...hmmmm... -

That's what I was thinking. I just thought I'd post it over here to see what everyone else had to say... -
I don't know how many of you have found this but people are getting tickets to CP for 18 bucks! Check it out here. Anyone know if there are any stores here in Ohio doing this?

While you may be paraphrasing, I heard this EXACT, I kid you not, sentence once. And, I wasn't even in the park. I was at home, at a birthday party, where a guests parent clearly has a questionable relationship with her medicine cabinet. Also, my last trip these two girls, probably about 11ish, asked my girlfriend and I to join them on Tazmanian Typhoon. Of course they screamed their little faces blue, and as we were exiting one of them spins around to us and says, "I was just here a few weeks ago with my family. It was me, my dad, my mom, and my aunt. We came out of the tube so fast that we actually went all the way up and over!" A blatent, "PSH!" like noise came out of my mouth as my girlfriend calmly agreed with her. And yes, she does know better.

New Trims on I305
catzdrummer09 replied to DaveStroem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Alright. I just read through all 9 pages of this thing and now it's time for me to give my $.05. I think this has gone WAY too far. Calling it a disgrace? Comparing it to an ACTUAL NASCAR racing experience? I mean seriously. That's like comparing Drop Zone (Tower) to the movie... It's called a theme for a reason. And whoever it was that compared trimming the drop for rider safety and/or enjoyment, in the words of CF, to urinating on a headstone is being a tad ridiculous. I don't understand how that could possibly disgrace the Earnhardt family. To me that's absurd. Also, people keep comparing this to Millie simply because their stats are similar. Let's break it down now. Millie's top speed is 92 MPH and it's layout is stretched out with sweeping turns and large hills, making it an enjoyable ride. I305 is/was 94 MPH and it's layout was that of a country road, by comparison, which would clearly end up jarring you and taking tight turns at such speeds seems unsafe and rather unenjoyable to me. It really seems comparable to going 94 MPH out a country road in a vehicle. Also, does anyone here actually know what the Gs were going into that corner? Even the POV seemed a little too much to me. Also, for those of you comparing it to NASCAR. That's like apples and oranges. This is a rather compact roller coaster compared to a racing speedway constructed to allow speeds near 200 MPH. As someone who has never even been to KD much less ridden I305, I think that this move may have been a good one. It was obviously done for a reason. Am I a fan of trims? No. In fact, that first one on The Beast angers me to no end, but I figure there is a purpose. Does CF have a habit of over trimming? Maybe. However, considering it is one long break fin all the way down the drop I really don't understand how it could kill the ride experience considering it hasn't even gotten up to speed. And, the fact that they removed some fins later in the ride proves that they were at least considering rider experience. Sorry if any of this seemed rude, I just thought that this was going a little too far. Oh and to whoever mentioned the third hill on DB without the trim. It IS rather glorious. -
Think big...no... REALLY BIG.

I was there yesterday and didn't see any crowds at all. My longest wait was Firehawk, obviously for capacity, and that was only about 30 to 45 minutes. Most everything else was a walk-on or 15 minute max wait including Diamondback and beast. By the way...anyone catch the response to that last question? New rides resulting in refreshment of the area...hopefully more pavers that not very soon? Could a new ride be in the works?

I look at it this way. Flight Deck, though a great ride, is probably on it's way to removal. I asked a question about it when 5@5 started and was told, "It's not it's turn in our rotation." Being that Vortex has recieved a couple paint jobs since FD was last painted, that kinda says to me, "Eh...we're not too worried about it." Now, having previously said that it was a great ride...imagine what B&M could do with that area. I know it's been mentioned several times, but at the time my only B&M invert was Raptor. I recently had the opportunity to experience Alpengeist and let me tell you...well, I probably don't even need to. That ride sits in an are not unlike the little valley that Flight Deck sits in. There's so much potential there for something great...(er).

I saw that girl that was injured from Eurobobbles too. Which, by the way, I don't really understand why it wasn't called Eurobubbles instead...but I digress. One major thing that I had trouble with was the amount of line jumping occuring. While I did see it enforced more so than ever, it was just insane. And one other thing. Did anybody else hear that SOB was being removed for (insert reason here) 18,000,000 times yesterday? I sure did. It was all I could do not to absolutely freak out on them by the time 10:00 pm rolled around.

TR: 2 Intimidators and a little Busch Gardens 4/2-4/3
catzdrummer09 replied to Delirium_Guy's topic in Trip Reports
Sounds like you had a great trip! I definitely want to check out the Intimidators. Also, I'm glad you had a good time at BGW. I was in Virginia Beach all last week and we were there opening day. It was my first trip and I was totally amped...then it rained...hard. SO, needless to say, things were not very enjoyable. However, the park is absolutely stunning! -
Backlot Stunt Coaster Trains Being Stripped of Their Theming
catzdrummer09 replied to DBru's topic in Kings Island
What you are calling over-reaction is merely an opinion, of which we are all entitled. Also, I never said that they were trying to make it like GL, I was saying that's what it reminded me of since Cedar Fair just decided to let it go and crapily rename it's rides like they did ours. Just a friendly response. However, for those of you that say it doesn't matter...imagine sitting down into that ride with some generic trains with a BLSC decal slapped on the front. Would that tie any of the theming and story together? Ummm. No. The decals on the cars, MINI or not, tied the whole thing together. I mean honestly, I'll give them the nickels to buy some generic car-like stickers to put on the cars. -
Backlot Stunt Coaster Trains Being Stripped of Their Theming
catzdrummer09 replied to DBru's topic in Kings Island
This is just getting to be too much. I am starting to feel like Kings Island is rapidly becoming a Geauga Lake. I was there the season before it closed and it kind of reminds me of that. The most prominent thing that sticks out at me as a comparison is that CF simply cut the Batman logo out of Dominator and left a hole in the headrest. It looked so horrible and trashy. Also, if CF just HAD to have the Paramount chain solely for Kings Island then why are they treating us in such a way? As many have said, the park is beginning to look cheap and lose it's character thanks to CF. THAT, to me, is not something you do to a park that you supposedly love. -
I'm going to have a hard time coming back to this... I was just at Busch Gardens Europe on opening day, what a crappy day that was, and rode Curse of DarKastle at least 3 or 4 times. I loved it! I really wish Kings Island or even Cedar Point would make this investment. That was a truly great ride. (And on a side note, Griffon was GLORIOUS!)

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
catzdrummer09 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I adore Kings Island, but I cannot and will not let this go. I take it you have not heard of Harry Traver's Cyclone. Or The Rye Aeroplane aka The Rye Airplane. Or even The Coney Island Cyclone. Beast: Biggest? Yes. Even still, the longest wooden ever built. Baddest or Meanest EVER? Uh, no. Not then, not now, not ever. Not meant to be. Measuring Stick for Woodies? In some ways, yes....But Harry Traver's Cyclone has it for baddest and meanest in many, many ways...and The Coney Island Cyclone is widely considered to be the historical granddaddy of them all, though in many ways it does not deserve that status. It has it.... I was waiting for this...As soon as I read that I thought Cyclone... -
Bugs in our Teeth: Official # of Bugs Swallowed

My first night ride on TTD in....07 I think... Oh my goodness was I PASTED with them. They were in my teeth, hair, eyelashes, eyebrows...stuck EVERYWHERE. We sat front car...that mixed with drag strip style lighting makes for really gross bug attacks. -
OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
catzdrummer09 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Well, I realize that it's not necessarily true and I'm sure it's been discussed. But, based on the statement that's all that we have to go on is what I was really saying. That was a poor choice of words on my part. I'm not trying to defend the ride or anything, as much as I love it, something does need to be done and fast. However, the reason for my post was because every single time I open a SOB thread, the same negative comment from the same ney-sayers are always there. I'm glad you thought that out carefully and didn't just doom it like most. -

How many different languages does it need to be said in. The ride will remain SBNO for 2010. The park is not even considering tearing it down. End of story. Why must the same people always make the same negative responses about the ride. We know by now whether you hate it or like it. Time will tell what happens, so let's not doom it just yet shall we? -
I've been staring at this for ten minutes trying to figure out what major event I missed and suddenly realized that it was just Demon Drop that was missing....

I personally think it is unnecessarily taking up space. There could be a great flat ride sitting there and instead we have Thunder Alley...

Some friends and I will be spending our Spring Break at Virginia Beach this year. Our last full day just happens to be BG's opening day. I was just wondering if anyone knew what crowd's to expect and if it was possible to get discounted tickets somewhere. We're definitely going either way but it would be nice to find some cheaper tickets.

I've got a couple. 1. My first ride on Millennium Force. For obvious reasons. 2. My first front seat ride on Diamondback last year. It was a night ride as well. The fact that there is virtually no train visibly surrounding you makes the ride all that much better. Also, the hangtime at the top of the hill as we waited for the rest to follow took my breath. 3. My last night ride on The Beast. It was the last night of Haunt and I swear, and I know someone is going to tell me different, there wasn't one moment when the trims actually slowed the train. It was the most out of control ride I've ever experienced and it's speed seemed relentless. Even the break shed in the middle.....flew right through it.

Ok, I asked one of the first questions about the crypt and gave them some ideas from a post by (I think) goodyellow. Having read this would anyone mind if I posted a link to this thread in a question to them to see what they say then?
