Maybe it's just the cloudy skies in the pictures, but that ride looks pitiful. They better have some ultra theming on that thing because being outdoors and allowing the riders to see a roller coaster and several buildings is definitely a strike against the theme. On the plus side, being a fraction of KI's TRTR's size, I'll bet this thing will actually be able to move.

I really enjoyed FearFest this year. This was actually the first time I ever went as a guest, and I found it very interesting, not very scary, but interesting. There were only two things I didn't like as much as the rest. One was the dreadful Dracula's Haunted Castle movie. How did they ever get anyone whose appeared in Hollywood movies to make an appearance in that. The other thing was Sleepy Hollow. Now I didn't outright hate this attraction, I just didn't think it was quite ready. The overall look of it was great, and it was obvious that a lot of work was put into it. But, there were still many dry spots and they should have put the Headless Horseman somewhere near the end as a climactic conclusion instead of placing him in the beginning. I'm willing to forgive these minor flaws, though. After all, it is only it's first year, and improvements can me made as PKI sees fit.

PKI to host "Italian Job: Stunt Track" const. tour
Alien Seed replied to Shaggy's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
1 - Adventure Express 2 - Son of Beast 3 - Beast 4 - Top Gun 5 - Face Off 6 - Racer/recaR 7 - Flight of Fear 8 - Vortex 9 - Rugrats Runaway Reptar 10 - Top Cats Taxi Jam 11 - Scooby's Ghoster Coaster 12 - Beastie 13 - Italian Job Stunt Track If you count Racer and recaR as different coasters, then yes, IJST is the 14th. And I personally believe that they are different coasters. However RCDB lists them as one coaster, so IJST is officially our 13th coaster. Don't forget about this coaster. or are we only counting active coasters? -
This really makes me wonder how the wisdom teeth situation was handled hundreds and thousands of years ago. On another note, I still have mine for who knows how long.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
Alien Seed replied to familyman's topic in Kings Island
I think this could make a good dark ride. But don't just have ordinary cars like SDATHC, make them move like the ones on Spider-Man. -
The IJST shirt was the one ride-ops got at the end of the year if they worked a certain amount of hours in October and November. It also says PKI ride-op team, so it is assumed the one wearing it works at PKI.

I agree that it is not the ride most of us are worried about, but rather it's maintenance. I was always looking forward to IJST. The only thing I would have changed is I would have put it indoors. I think an outdoor coaster is a bad idea because all the effects are subject to wind and rain among other things. I do wish that I would have ridden IJST before ROTM, though, because it's going to be like comparing MIB: AA to SDATHC. IJST will still be fun, but it will be awful compared to Mummy.

Definitely, about 8 times on Ice, and 3 times on Fire. This is another great coaster, or should I say coasters. There is a difference, and I prefer Ice. It just seems more out-of-control than Fire, which has a lot of "straight" parts in it. One of the ride-ops there, named Steve, saw me with my IJST shirt on, and told me that he used to be a manager of the Ocktoberfest area back in 1994. That was interesting, and I'll have to see if Jill Mohr remembers him.

This was my second trip to Universal in the past year, and I have to say it was better than the first thanks to one ride: Revenge of the Mummy. I'll get back to this later, but first: I rode all the usual rides from Hulk to Back to the Future. All still fun, but the rides were breaking down constantly. I was stuck on Spider-man for a half an hour and I was stuck on MIB Alien Attack for 10 minutes twice. Plus, it was cold down there this time. I got a whole tour boat on Jaws to myself because of this. New things I did: 1) Rode E.T.: This ride was creepy in my opinion, like if the smurf ride was infested by aliens with glowing fingers and gov't agents. 2) Used a digital camera on MIB to get my own personal copy of the soundtrack. I just love the vocal music they play in the final area, where you have to shoot the other car and "press the red button." 3) Was a volunteer U-571 commander on Earthquake. If you haven't been here, this probably doesn't make any sense. 4) Rode Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast: WTF. This ride is bad, that's all there is to it. It's just a motion simulator, with a bad movie. I never liked J. Neutron the show, but I thought that with all the other Nicktoons, this ride could be redeemed. WRONG. This movie is too too too busy, cramming all the Nick characters in a movie that is less than 8 minutes long. You end up either giving all attention to the Nick characters and missing the story, or giving all attention to Jimmy and getting a story that has no humor or anything interesting in it whatsoever. It's impossible to pay attention to both, and riding it twice just isn't an option because you wouldn't want to sit through the same crap again. Revenge of the Mummy: I rode this 13 times during my visit. To me, this is not only the best ride they have, but also the best roller coaster I have ever been on. As a coaster, it doesn't do much. It's the theming and effects that make it unique. It starts out as a dark ride, with some awesome animatronics, cgi, and pyrotechnics, among other things. When the coaster finally starts, it takes your breath away, not only with even more great effects on the ride itself, but with some nice airtime and total confusion about your direction and speed. I also brought the camera on this ride, but without flash, most of the pictures did not turn out so well. One last note: ROTM uses the same restraints as FOF, but since you sit higher up, the foot restaint comes up to about midway between your feet and your knees (much more comfortable).

Just watched the new Teaser. Wasn't much, but can't say I was disappointed, I wasn't really expecting much this early. I'm looking forward to a trailer during the Super Bowl; they'd better have one.

Why don't you just look in the PKI History thread. It's pretty much the same thing.

Does anybody know the name of that piece of music playing? I've heard it many times, but never found out its name.

Highly questionable...but true, and funny.

Driving is a coveted position on all the rides in the park, but some people are not trained for it for various reasons, one usually being that they don't prove themselves responsible enough to handle a multimillion dollar ride and carefully watch all operations so that safety is maintained. Personally, I don't tend to like driving TRTR. It gets boring up there for me, except when I'm in the mood to make unusual spiels with the microphone. I'd much rather be "on the ground" in one of the two chambers or on the ride because I like talking to the guests and working all the theming effects, ie. preshow and "stone" doors.
-
Level one means you can drive the ride, which that it turn means sitting in the control booth, pressing buttons, and watching the ride and the guests.

CP announces maXair
Alien Seed replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
When they say that Racer started the second coaster interest, wouldn't that mean other parks copied the idea to start building coasters again. -
Didn't you people see The Nightmare Before Christmas? There was a tree for every real holiday, and Halloween was one of them. This is Halloween! This is Halloween! Pumpkins scream in the dead of night...
-
I'm actually finishing my polishing work on it, to improve it, of course. It's still the exact same design, I've just cleaned it up to give it less of a rough appearance. If you're at the slideshow, I'll bring in copies of that, I, Beast, TCOR, and if I get finished, AVD.
-
AVD Alien vs. Dreamer Thank you so much U.H. You have just given me a fantastic idea for a new "poster" Of course that's after I'm done with The Chronicles of Racer.
-
Legend...short? This ride is certainly longer than it may look on a video. It's alot longer than Raven; probably close to twice as long.
-
*cough psycho cough*

Ask anyone I work with, I already start fearfest early on TRTR; giving guests frights using masks, rubber claws, and some cool sound effects. You'd be amazed how easy it is to scare people using simple props when they're already confused about what they're waiting in line for.
-
We seem to have a problem with one group of people saying that Raven or Legend is better than Beast, and the other group of people who have never been to HW just yelling out that it is impossible for someone to like a coaster more than The Beast. By the way, Klockster, I made a mistake. I wasn't really the "last" time I rode Racer this season, because I did ride with you on the last day, and it wasn't as bad as usual. However, all of my previous rides in the last two cars on Racer had given me a very painful experience, and I will usually avoid riding there if I can. I have gotten the "heart attack" feeling from riding there more than once.
-
"The ride that gets my vote for roughest in the park for the 4th season in a row is Forwards Racer. This ride is just terribly rough." I second that. The last time I rode in the back on Racer, I felt like I was having a heart attack. Is was THAT painful for me. Backwards isn't bad, but forwards, for me, in cars 5 or 6, is unbearable.

Legend and Raven, especially Raven, give you an airtime experience that I haven't even felt on a steel coaster. You are constantly floating out of you seat on these rides, and Legend gives you some nice lateral force too at the same time you are getting the airtime, giving you a very unique experience.
