That is exactly what I loved about Mandurin Cusine. While it doesn't meet the requirements of say an Applebees are you stated, it was a nice sit down restaraunt and being on International Street it never seemed to be very noisy while you dined. I know some people complained about prices, but man this is PKI of course the prices are high, and besides I thought the Chinese food was great.

You're pathetic.

Going through some of my old posts from the likes of sometime near November of 04, I found this http://www.pkicentral.com/forums/index.php...wtopic=2747&hl=, and it doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I was posting my memories from the 2004 season there and now I'm doing it again for 05, and thinking back to before this season with all the buzz about IJ:ST consturction buzz here at the site. Time really does fly if you think about it.

It's not really fair to compare a normal day to Winterfest because of the weather. After all, Winterfest is themed for the cold weather and a normal day is just a normal day.

I've got to agree with you, except for the "favorite roller coaster" poll with Drop Zone as a choice. I mean, come on, "Kings Island, a CBS park." You've gotta' be kidding me. I would love to see the name go back to Kings Island, although that isn't going to happen.

Unless you're blind I would read the title of this poll, best "Roller Coaster" crew. I'm voting for Son of Beast, which I am shocked only has my vote. It's the only crew i've seen who has always (in all times visited the park) checked the lapbars at a tremendous speed and got the trains out quick. Nextly I would go with Adventure Express (not an option.)

When is the next bring a friend free day?
Pirate of PKI replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
According to PKI.com's events schedule, the last BAFFD was June 3rd, and apparently the last, since when you go to the August event schedule a BAFFD is not listed like it was in the previous ones. Unfortunately, if I would had not lost my gold pass manual that would have been a lot easier. -
Don't get too excited. People who see this thread on a PKI forum and see the actual park will most likely be dissapointed. If you're a coaster enthusiast and just want to ride the Tornado for the sake of riding it, so be it, but the coaster really isn't much, the average type of family coaster you'd find at a private picnic park. (I pass the park about 5 times a week, I live in Harrison, about minutes away.) If anyone is familiar with Rocky Glen Park, Tornado has been compared to it's former Comet. The other coaster, the "Teddy Bear", well I think the name says it all. Just assuming people are expecting a higher level quality of a park then what SG really is.

( Update: Delerium was once against closed down all day today. SOB and TG were also closed down at one point in the day. ) We got to the park at 10:30 and avoided the picture people nicely. Headed to Action Zone first as usual, and like my last visit (5/29), Son of Beast was closed down. It didn't open until way later in the day, i'm guessing somewhere around 2:00, but i'm not certain. I had a feeling it was going to be one of those nasty limited operation days the park has been having lately. The Face/Off line looked pretty full, so we headed all the way over to Vortex where we were about to walk on, but they had to bring out the hose and wash off the front seat because someone had threw up. After Vortex we headed over to Rivertown, but first we stopped and got an Italian Job: Stunt Track reservation ticket. The ticket was for 2:00 to 3:00. On such an empty day as it was, we were shocked to see Tomb Raider: The Ride had an incredibly long line. Since who I was with had yet to ride TR:TR, we were thinking about waiting in line but instead we walked onto The Beast. Headed out of Rivertown and waited one ride to get onto Troika, then again walked onto Vortex for a second time. We walked back to Action Zone after that and got to the gates of Top Gun, just as a crew member got on the microphone and announced that it was experiencing technical difficulties, so we had to exit through the entrance. After that was my first ride on Xtreme Skyflyer. It was an amazing experience, and I absoltuely loved when the floor drops. Face/Off was still a long line, so we hit RaceR and then Beast again. We got to the IJ:ST entrance exactly at 2 and waited exactly 50 minutes before getting to the gate. I was impressed with the ride. The launch was great, the all around speed the whole ride was good, and the tunnel was as good as finale as I could think of. Oh, and somewhere in there we made room to walk onto Adventure Express. Time spent at the park: 10:30-3:30 Rides (all rides not listed with wait time was a walk-on): Italian Job: Stunt Track (50 minutes), The Beast, RaceR (5 minutes), Vortex (2), Troika, Xtreme Skyflyer, Adventure Express.

Shockwave at PKD is a little different than King Cobra was, with more track after the loop (2231' length altogether) and therefor a longer ride. They both however level out at speed (50 mph for both.) For some reason I can't see the Cobra scrap track going there, since SW has been operating since 1986 I would think it would get more updated track. I'm clueless as to what is going to happen to the KC track as of now, it's a true mystery.

On the topic of limited operation days, the Sunday of Memorial Weekend (5/29) would certainly fit in that category. Italian Job: Stunt Track was closed at least half of the day, Son of Beast for a couple of hours near the beginning of the day, Face/Off was closed down most of the time SOB was and maybe more, and apparently Adventure Express was suffering technical problems (as mentioned in my 5/29 TR by another member.) It's no wonder Top Gun had a long line that day with F/O and SOB. Days like these are usually rare, but apparently lately the beginning of the season excedes that rule.

Seems to me like whoever put the English version together probably used a crappy online Japanese to English translater that wasn't much of a help. Anyway, it caught to my attention that the last caption under the last picture said something about opening in 1973. Anyone know the actual year these pictures were taken? My favorite part of the captions was "perhaps but the instantaneous there God has gotten off."

Just to touch up on that, the counter and waiting area for Laser Tag was also gone yesterday, but the dome arena was still up. I completely forgot to say that in my 5/29 TR, forgive me.

*Sigh* This exact topic with the exact same Screamscape link as been discussed in the "According to Screamscape" thread.

Italian Job in the Enquirer Again
Pirate of PKI replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
The ride was closed down twice yesterday for long periods of time, once in the early afternoon and once in the evening. So I guess if that was the idea of having tickets, in case the ride closes down so they can cycle the empty trains, then I guess mission accomplished. I didn't think the ticket reservations were still going on, but when we saw the unbearably long ticket line we called it a no-go. I think Brown pretty much summed up my opinion on the tickets. -
When I say it wasn't packed I mean the waits on coasters excluding FOF and Face/Off were about 10-15 minutes. In further contrast, that's a lot less of an attendance then I would have expected on the holiday weekend. However, the real "holiday" is today and a lot more people are going to be off work, so I expect horror stories of long waits and capacity today.

Today I decided to take a risk by making my first park visit of the year on Memorial Day weekend. We easily avoided the picture people at the gates and went straight to Son of Beast, but it was closed down, so we went to Top Gun instead. The wait on Top Gun later revealed to be the longest of the day at 25 minutes. There's not much I can say about the ride itself, it's just the same old smooth rider. The park seemed pretty crowded early on, so as we were making our way to Coney Mall, we stopped and rode Viking Fury due to it being a walk-on. Afterwards we waited about 10 minutes on RaceR. I noticed that since i'm so used to riding it backwards, I don't even really notice the roughness anymore. Adventure Express and Troika followed, again due to walk-ons. We went straight for Italian Job: Stunt Track after that, but like SOB, it was also closed down, and they were testing the trains all day. Son of Beast opened by then, and we rode it, nothing much to say except when that I think sometimes you forget how much of a headache it can give you. The School of Rock shows were showing about every hour and a half from 1 to 4:30. We got our hands stamped and left after that, not like it mattered since we all have passes, to go the Mobile Skatepark thing at Sawyar Point, it was a lot of fun and we got a lot of free stuff including some nice T-shirts. The most exciting thing was the Pro BMX competition near the end of the event. At around 7:00 we went back to the park and ate Skyline on the Skyline Patio after giving the new Mexican place that replaced M. Cusine some consideration. We hit Vortex next and as usual the line went extremely fast, and while waiting one of the staircases in the station we saw one of the trains get stuck on the launch hill, but it was shortley fixed. Afterwards we went twice more on Racer, one Zephyr and one more SOB. All in all it was a pretty enjoyable day, and for the holiday weekend, the lines weren't too bad at all.

I can't say I really blame guests for trying to grab the leaves on Troika. I mean, if you're just a guest and not a PKI enthusiast and are riding the ride, it's a natural instinct to try to reach your arm out and grab the branches. I know for sure the first time I rode it I did, and i'm sure the majority of people who say they don't have tried to in the past.

What ride is overrated at kings island
Pirate of PKI replied to vortexdemon05's topic in Kings Island
I honestly don't see how the coaster that usually averages the lowest lines can be overrated in any way. It only spans 35 acres, it's a basic Arrow design with a high speed of 35 mph. It's reached 19 years at the park. How that is overrated is beyond me, maybe the reason you think it is overrated is because you just don't like the ride, and compare it to the other coasters in the park. -
Picard is most likely right, when/if it is removed, it will be replaced by another dueling wooden coaster. It only seems right, although the capacity and space would be big enough to put just about anything in. I don't see why putting a brand new dueling woodie would be neccesary when you can keep Racer for nostalgia reasons and there's really no other logical reason to dismantle it.

Not that I am necessarily defending the dribblers, but from the average guest's point of view, if you play a game and win a basketball, it's going to be in your nature to dribble it as you walk around, not carry it at your side all day. Maybe i'm speaking for myself, though I doubt it, but instead of walking around holding my ball with 2 hands staring at it, I would rather be bouncing it, it's a natural instinct. However, it's a different story when you see the retards rolling the balls they don't want into the lake, usually when they are walking trying to carry 7 balls with them. What would be a logical alternative to the problem... how about giving away balls that aren't already inflated?

"What i found out" is that this is a new attraction poll, not a PKI-Cedar Point debate.

The Beach Waterpark
Pirate of PKI replied to Enchanted Voyager's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm glad you brought that up, I had almost completely forgotten about Surf Cincinnati. It doesn't really compare to a waterpark which say has the capacity and attractions as The Beach or BB has, but it was a nice little waterpark, and the location was perfect for me. The 20 acre complex was bought by it's former owners in 2001, who was exploring it's options about it. I think it's being used for hosting some sort of wedding receptions or banquet halls now. From what I remember correctly, there was a dueling steep drop slide in which you rode on mats and across from it was a tube slide, which I think were the 2 main attractions, not including the wave pool. The sign remained up for a long time after it closed, and still is now, but it's covered with an advertising banner. -
Poll seems a little one sided, doesn't it? 75% want a B&M coaster over an AF coaster, but there's no big surprise there. I'd perfer a B&M over just about any other ride, yet alone an Adams Family coaster, something I personaly wouldn't care about, partly due to the theming, and partly due to what I can picture the ride to look like, and it's statistacs. As far as the conern that the Adams Family coaster "wouldn't draw as many people due to it being a dark ride", for one, it really wouldn't be a dark ride, or as I guess you would say, a "dark coaster", nor do I agree that it would be a B&M It is true that it wouldn't draw as much attraction as a B&M, but that's just rediculous.
