  1. Thursday update: Still no track sitting outside CSF in Batavia, other than the green defective piece mentioned already in this thread.

I'm out that way every Thursday if you all want me to still check in to see if anything is laying about...

  2. KIC 10th Birthday Bash at Kings Island September 8th!

Featuring appearances by Gordon Bombay himself, Mr. Emilio Estevez and former Reds player David Weathers.

Afterparty at The Cincinnati Gardens. Refreshments provided by RC. Sponsored by Waffle House and Ryan and Ronny's Nice, Sit Down Restaurant!

BoddaH1994 (Ryan) and Gordon Bombay (Ronny) would have wanted it that way...

  3. Was going to add this several hours back but I had to go out to my Dad's in Brown County to feed the dogs (they went to EnterTRAINment Junction and loved it!) and swung past CSF on the way there, no new track outside from what I saw but there are 3 or 4 shipping containers outside of the shop itself.

  4. Mustang at Kings Island...a ride so good we'll have to have mechanics in the station at all times.

Andrew, taking a stab at Ford.

Proof this new ride will finally be called Mustang: :P

I sure hope it wouldn't be called Mustang. That ride would be awfully slow :P

  5. I've never tried playing any of the games that Kings Island has to offer.

Want to add this since it involves games of skill...I was at a Denny's down in Kissimmee, Florida about 10 years ago with my family. They had one of those claw games in the corner. My stepdad played a couple dollars worth and lost 3/4 of the time. We were approached by an older gentleman who gave us the valuable advice to shake the machine when the claw engages the prize. Watched him almost empty out that machine!

  6. Pardon the double post, but does anyone know if "Gary Dowell Jr. from Cincinnati" actually exists? The Sprite 3-point shootout says he holds the record with 15 shots made. Do you think the park may have invented him with a really high score just to make winning the X-box (or whatever it is you win for beating the high-score) harder or unachievable? It seems like a dumb question to ask, but I've never seen the name or high score change in the 8 years the game has been there.

Might be made up, hard to say, ala Richard from Indian Hill or Nick from Loveland that calls into WLW.

  7. Trip Report 7-4

With rain for all of the morning and afternoon, what better time to visit the park? Much like Monday's visit, the park was dead! I arrived around 3pm or so and headed towards The Beast for the first ride of the day. Got in 7 rides total on Wednesday on The Beast, of which 5 were in a steady shower. It made for a painful ride, but a unique experience and my first ever rain rides on The Beast! The other two rides were day rides sans rain. After these rides I headed over towards Diamondback and took in 7 laps, mainly towards the front of the train. Left around 8pm or so. Station waits or 1 to 2 trains at the most for all rides.

    Diamondback: 7 laps (season total: 7, all-time total: 85)

The Beast: 7 laps (season total: 11, all-time total: 37)

    Trip Report 7-6

Much like Wednesday's trip, with all of the rain plus watching the webcam to see exactly how the park was looking, I decided to head out to the park during the late afternoon. Arrived around 5pm and the park was not packed at all. First ride of the day was The Beast. 2 laps (one in second to last row, one in the middle) on it before it going down, and was closed for quite sometime due to the supposed power surge as well. 1 to 2 train wait at the most for both rides.

Headed to Diamondback and got in 2 laps, both towards the front of the train. Amazing as always. It was right after I got off Diamondback that the power surge occurred resulting in the train I just got off of being stuck halfway to 3/4 of the way up the lift. It sat there for around 15-20 minutes before everything resuming as normal. Headed over to The Beast right after Diamondback started back up and it was still down. Sat there and relaxed for a good 15 minutes looking at my phone and waited to see if it was going to open up in the next few minutes. It was during this time that a bird found it necessary for the 2nd time in a week to pick me as their "dumping ground". First at a funeral in Beckley, WV and now here at Kings Island! With the front of my shirt covered in bird $h!t I headed towards the front gate, picked up a Diamondback t-shirt and a license plate frame from ThrillSeekers, $25 for both and was the first time I've ever bought merchandise, save for ride pictures at the park. Around 7:15pm, I headed out to my apartment in Eastgate (to change) and grabbed a bite to eat at Rally's in nearby Milford on the way back. Returned around 9:15pm and grabbed a night ride on The Beast, 15 minute wait for this. After this, headed to Diamondback where I got in 13, yes 13 rides between 10pm and close. It was that dead! First night of the second half on Diamondback was right as the fireworks were getting started and my last ride, coincidentally my 100th ride on Diamondback, was the 2nd to last train of the evening. Pretty good night if I do say so myself!

    Diamondback: 15 laps (season total: 23, all-time total: 100)

The Beast: 3 laps (season total: 14, all-time total: 40)

    Thanks for reading!

  8. Got off Diamondback, the train that I was just on got stuck 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up the lift. Sat there for a good 15-20 minutes or so.

I also heard it may have been a power surge as well. The Beast was also down when I went over after DB started cycling empty trains.

  9. Thanks y'all I appreciate it...instead of starting a new thread altogether I will add some information about today's brief visit.

I headed up and arrived right around 12-12:30ish, expecting crowds to a minimum. However since it's Fourth of July Week, that got thrown right out the window as soon as I saw the parking lot. The park is PACKED today. Only got in a couple of rides...Red Racer and WindSeeker. Left around 3:30pm or so as I met a friend up there and talked to her and hung out for a little bit. Before I headed over to The Racer, I first went up to the Tower to get a better perspective of what's going on over in our Corner of Suspicion...footers, footers, and more footers. Can't wait to see what 2014 holds!

Couple things real quick that I wanted to add...most of the TV's in Diamondback's queue area I see are no longer there. The one (or more, can't remember) that remain have severe burn in. Additionally, the spiel in the line is voiced by none other than our friend Don Helbig! Is the new ride for 2014 going to use Son of Beast's station? (avoids items from being thrown)

I may head up tomorrow for ERT, not sure yet. I'm on vacation for work until Monday July 8 and have been off since Thursday June 27 and it feels like I have been off for a MONTH, but I'm enjoying every minute of it! (not to mention I have to go to the DMV to get tags. Happy Birthday present to me, State of Ohio!)

  10. With all of the afternoon rain in the Cincinnati metro area during the day on Monday, I immediately seized this opportunity to head out to the park to get some rides in because the park would be dead. For the most part, it was and I probably got the most rides I've ever have in a 4 hour visit to the park.

Started in Action Zone and Oktoberfest with the intent of checking out the progress with Project 2014. Flight Deck was first and it was a station wait. Next up was Adventure Express, also a station wait. The views of the construction site, especially on AE, shows progress coming along. Definitely a great vantage point if you want to see what is taking place. Have a watchful eye, especially on the second half of the ride.

After this, I headed to The Racer. Station waits for both sides, I got in rides on both Blue and Red. Headed to Flight of Fear afterward, 20 minute wait for it and was one of the longest waits of the day. Well worth it though. After this I headed to Vortex, 10 minute wait for 5-1, as always an amazing ride.

Headed to Backlot Stunt Coaster after this...been awhile since I've been on it. 20 minute wait for this ride. Last two rides of the night were on The Beast and Diamondback. 20 minute waits for each respectively. Beast was when it was getting dark with a lot of fog back there so it made for an interesting experience. Diamondback was a night ride in row 4. I got in a lot last night.

Flight Deck, Adventure Express, Red Racer, Blue Racer, Flight of Fear, Vortex, Backlot Stunt Coaster, The Beast, and Diamondback...9 coasters in almost 4 hours, a new personal best for me!
