If you go through the week, 1 or 2 days should be plenty. You could easily do everything in one day, then the second day you can hit BB and reride everything you liked. Even on a normal Saturday you should be able to ride everything in one full day.

^ My wife and I were just discussing that last night, actually. Last year we went to KI 17 times and spent less than $20 on food all year. Also went to CP twice and spent about $15 on food. If they can us a big discount we would buy a lot more.

The Crypt = The most boring topspin ride I've ever been on .
-
Loose as in "not pinned" not loose like standing up.
-
I personally think hands up makes rough rides seem smoother, lets you move independently of the train. Hands up + loose lap bar + ab muscles makes the roughness go away .

I love that ride, it is just too short. They only do 3 swings at the full height .

So do you ride coasters with your hands up or down?

SFOT Re-Doing Texas Giant
Zorba replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Mr. Freeze seems like it always has maintenance problems. I know I went there 2 or 3 times a year for the first few years after it was built and I've been able to ride it once because it was always closed. It is an awesome ride, though. -

I didn't say that, I was just saying I don't think it is rough compared to the Giant. I do think SOB is a lot of fun, but I wouldn't say that it has a massively interesting layout, though. -

I personally love the Giant, but it is unbelievably rough. Even though it is rough I think it has an awesome track layout that is fun, unlike Mean Streak that is just boring and rough. The Giant is also one of the coolest looking coasters I've ever seen. The last time I rode the Giant in the back (~5 years ago) I felt like I had broken ribs when I got off, maybe that is why I never understand the complaints about Son of Beast. -
Yeah, you were right. I cleared it a few times using the option under the "clear private data," but I guess that wasn't actually working. Cleared it manually and that fixed it. Maybe it is time to upgrade <--- Feels dumb now Edit: Just updated Firefox and now that button actually works

Well I just restarted my computer: It is really weird that it is working for me and no one else.

FUN Downgraded By Argus, Units at $9.01...
Zorba replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
If the dividend doesn't get cut that is a nearly 20% yield, I seriously doubt you kind find many other stocks that would provide a 20% return year after year. If it did get cut in half a 10% yield is still better than the long term average return on the S&P, not to mention when the economy turns around FUN will likely go up with everyone else. If the dividend is cut completely, it would be a pretty poor investment, IMHO, which is why I am waiting for that shoe to drop. IT would also be nice to let the FUN dividend pay for my season passes, food and travel expenses for their parks . I do agree right now you should be investing in what you think will do well when the market goes back up, I just don't necessarily think FUN is a bad choice, since it has been hammered lately and has a massive dividend. -
FUN Downgraded By Argus, Units at $9.01...

Are you still optimistic on FUN? I remember something about it taking nuclear winter to change your mind. Even if they cut their dividend in half, it by itself would still provide a very good return. So as long as you believe the company will make it long term, I think the stock would be a fairly good investment. -
This is what I am getting. I cleared all much cache. I am getting the denied on IE.

The link works for me just fine and it is still the 2008 booklet. I am in Firefox 3

I agree that the price is too high for what they have, even at $40. I think they should be in the $25-$30 range.

I have noticed on just about every stock I follow closely that the ratings are backwards of what makes good invest sense. When the stock is doing well and has a high price they say to buy and when the stock has taken a beating they always say sell. -
Quassy Proposes Gravity Group Wood Coaster
Zorba replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It really drives me crazy when people move in next to something that was there and then whine and cry about it after the fact. If you move in next to an amusement park/fair grounds/mall/airport, etc. you better expect it to grow and have traffic, people and noise. If you don't like it, don't move in next to it. The park was there 76 years before the Yimoyines, did they think it would up and leave just because they moved in and didn't like it? The park I grew up had to close their wooden coaster at 9pm every night because of the "noise." And the neighbors kept it from ever growing. /rant -
Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)

The Sliver Bullet at Knott's Berry Farm also had a ball thing hanging out in the train storage area. I didn't get a picture of it because I could only see it when I was on the ride . -
Still says 2008 for me.
-
Well I think the park is in much better hands now. I wonder what kiddie ride they'll be adding.
-
It would be nice if they put lap bars on flight deck instead of OTSR. For a tall guy like me that would make the ride much better.
-
The Hard Rock theme seems like it costs a lot of money to keep around. I seriously doubt that it gives them more than 2.5M of "goodwill." Also IIRC the ticket cost was pretty high, especially for the number/quality of rides.

Wild West World Revisited
Zorba replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I never actually went to Joyland, but have seen pictures. I think their dark ride "Whacky Shack" was very similar, albeit smaller, to the Phantasmagoria at my home park and the Whacky Shack at Waldameer. I'm planning a trip to Waldameer this year just for Whaky Shack to remind me of my youth.
