  1. DB hands down
  2. I was also wondering about the canoes. Looks like they were in the area that would be The Beast/Keelboat Canal. Was there a natural lake there? How did that attraction work? Did you rent them out?
  3. I don't like it so I think they should tear it down. (sound familiar?)
  4. Just got my 100th yesterday! That had been my goal for the summer, but I still want to keep riding for sure. That thing never gets old!
  5. Not sure if this would work, but my visit to CP got me thinking about an Intamin launch destination coaster. I wish I had some software to illustrate this, but the idea would be as follows: The marriage of ultimate acceleration and air time, this ride would consist of two giant Intamin arches that would cross each other behind the Eiffel Tower and dominate the KI skyline. Riders will board in either Rivertown or Action Zone (2 stations), be catapulted by one of two hydraulic launches over 100 mph in a short time. By the time the rider realizes they are soaring high above the park, the descent will induce an extended period of air time before 'landing' at the opposite station-all the way across the park. The feeling would be of being shot out of a cannon, and the ride would act as a 'portal' between RT and AZ. To take the round trip would require waiting in two lines, but the idea is that it would act as a transport, as much as a thrill ride. I got the idea thinking of how awesome TTD is, but preferrng that it went straight down (and not the 270 degree roll coming down), but this would land you in a different part of the park. With the double arches, the trains would be sent back and forth, but the riders would travel one way. I'm sure this would be a massive undertaking, in terms of fitting it in, as well as cost (2 launch mechanisms etc.). But it would be sweet. I'm also not exactly sure where the stations would need to be located. This ride would take advantage of KI's geographic enormity, would be a one-of-a kind experience thrill-wise, and would give KI that Intamin that everyone is screaming for.
  6. It's been great for my wife and I. I've been to KI about once a week so far this year, and to Carowinds and Cedar Point as well.
  7. I imagine that this is also why people of 'unusual shape' (not necessarily bigger people) cannot ride.
  8. Because the seat is shaped so your butt is lower than your knees. Once the restraint is in place, there is no way you can squirm out of it due to the angle...although it feels like your hardly secure. Try it-you'll like it.
  9. The seemingly minimal restraints-along with the fact that your feat are dangling-are the aspects that make DB an amazing ride. On the 1st drop, I love arching my back as we coast over the crest so that my feat are pointed directly down towards the ground. Sure it's freaky, but that is the point. Once you sell yourself on the fact that you will not fall out, you can really enjoy what DB has to offer.
  10. That is a great discount...will encourage me to give it a shot. Always love putting the hurt on a buffet!
  11. Love your handle...WhoDey4Life! I've had change, etc. fall out of my pockets on DB sometimes, and not others. There's a lot of physics going on, and it must depend on angle, speed, etc. I look like a dork I'm sure, but I've adopted the fanny pack. I keep all of my stuff in there and it really helps...losing my keys was my main fear. I figure function and security is the key, and as a 32 year old married man, I really don't need to be 'looking cool' for the teenie bopper girls anyway
  12. Yeah, these things are mildly annoying, but they're no biggee. It is an amusement park, and I imagine they amuse the kids who win them.
  13. I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the CF photo database covers all of the parks? My wife and I have PPs, but she cannot come to CP this weekend. My buddy is going with me. He doesn't mind paying admission, but it would be super sweet if he didn't have to wait in the parking lot while I rage the ERT. Do you think there's a chance they'd let him in with her pass? Or is her pic going to pop up, even at a different park?
  14. A Skyhawk or a Ferris Wheel
  15. Do they do a full hour of ERT every day up there? I'm heading up Friday, can't wait!!
  16. One could argue that DB is similar to Maggie or Millie, because of a similar layout, etc. But the overall impression that they leave is much different. Millie is all about intense spped, height, and overall 'force'. DB is about making you fly, and freeing you from the train. In terms of car racing, I once compared Millie to NASCAR (high speed, intense in-line G forces) and Maverick to Formula 1 (high acceleration, agile twists and turns, lots of lateral motion). To stay with the analogy, I'd compare DB to some form of motorcross-a series of jumps.
  17. The Beast kills Vortex and Firehawk IMO Maverick, TTD, and Millie are in a class of their own and KI has nothing like them CP has nothing like Diamondback CP has a higher concentration of fantastic rides that rise magestically out of the water KI is a beautiful park with awesome landscaping and theming which also has a lot of great rides KI is a place where Cincy kids (and adults) make a habit of spending much of their summers CP is a coaster mecca that people travel to
  18. That sux. I have noticed that it really is shape as much as size.
  19. I think it is probably haunted to some degree, but not necessarily by victims of tragedy (although I wouldn't rule it out). All places that are older and/or have been visited by a lot of people seem to have an 'imprint' on them. Wrigley Field, Union Terminal, castles I've been to in England, and KI all have this aura about them that is the residue of every visitor throughout the years. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I think it's palpable, especially when said places are empty.
  20. Rode with a 1st time rider over the weekend and they put us in 16. He was impressed. His exact words were, "That is a roller coaster and a half"
  21. No doubt. I believe in JC, and live by his example. That being said, it was a little creepy to see some old guy in the DB line asking/teaching a little girl (who he did not know) about the scripture quote on her shirt. I guess to me, your faith should shape who you are and what you do...not something you need to broadcast or try to convert people to. Either way, everyone is different and it's never good to generalize entire populations. We should be glad that we live in a country where that diversity is tolerated.
  22. True Mark...and it's good to remember that she doesn't ride for attention, and she didn't call the media herself. She does it for the sheer pleasure. Milestones like that are just a symptom of her love for the ride.
  23. There will always be haters who simply do not understand. That's their problem-not ours. My wife and friends make fun of me for going to KI by myself (and for rocking a fanny-pack)...but when I'm flying over those hills and shooting like a cannonball out of my seat-their opinions are the last thing on my mind. And when their at the park and don't want to lose their valuables, they're thankful for my fanny-pack
  24. I've seen that-and would LOVE to do that. Twice as high as the one at KI-that would be nuts.
  25. Slingshot is pretty cool, but there is always tension in the cables-you never really free-fall. The launch is fun-but since all you see is sky, you don't feel the acceleration. Skyflyer is a blast, and you are really falling-then flying. I've only done it by myself..awesome.
