  1. The article 'Loose Lips Sink Ships' is truly heartwarming. Its written by Leah Koch. Great read. Its wonderful to hear from Will's kin, especially when its about future expansion. http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2014/05/15/loose-lips-sink-ships/ Its coming. And its almost positively a coaster. "As 2015 rolls closer.." EDIT: Got beat. Twice. Lol
  2. To be fair, when Voyage was purchased, $9 million dollars could get you more than it can now. Inflation should be considered in the number. (I'm no mechanical engineer, yet. This is just what has been to be in the past.) But as for the ride itself, the steel structure does not absorb a great deal of the forces exterted by the trains. Thus, the stress is placed primarily on the wooden tracks itself, instead of being dissipated through a traditional wooden structure. I believe the lack of a wooden struxture is essentially what is causing the Voyage to tear itself apart.
  3. ^^But isn't it in the best interest of both parties that the park continues to be successful? It could easily be argued that a big new addition is necessary to compete with Kings Island and Kentucky Kingdom. And I wasn't trying to be literal with the Dive Machine. But a large expansion, yes. From what I have observed, both Dan and Lori care deeply about the park.
  4. Unfortunately yes. It has gotten worse. But its still a great ride. As reported, the major track work made during the 2012-13 off season made a world of difference. Around the 2010-12 seasons, the ride was still very enjoyable until the turnaround back in the woods. Then it started to get really rough. The recent re-track fixed potholes on the 1st and 3rd hills as well as a complete replacement of the turnaround. I believe even some of the 90 degree turns near the end got some TLC. Really good job fixing it up. With this being said, it still gets rough near the end of the ride. Right before the on-ride camera, I normally have to start bracing myself. The earlier you go in the year, the smoother ride you'll get. I believe someone on here has said before that the testing of the Timberliner trains required extra gauging of the track itself in order to fit the Timberliner trains on the track. Thus resulting in a rougher ride for the PTC trains it has always ran. Does anyone want to confirm or clarify that statement? I may even be imagining it all. lol The coaster is still a wooden beast deserving of a trip and a few re-rides if you can handle it. Its still a 9 out of 10 IMO and still my all-time favorite woodie.
  5. Or maybe its a diversion. But really, I could see the park getting a nice B&M Dive Machine.. call it "Pilgrim's Plunge." Kinda rolls off the tongue doesn't it?
  6. Honestly, I love the Koch family. I loved having Pat and crew around the park. And maybe Will and Lori's kin will one day take up the park and it will be a grand family affair once again. But for the time being, I think the park is in the right direction. Holiday World is losing its charm. Its getting harder and harder to compete with the parks with the shinny new rides and the tall steel coasters. The reopening of KK only makes competing that much harder. And the wear ans tear that their 3 wooden coaster (esp Voyage) has taken over the years has only made it worse. Matt and the rest of management up at HW seem to be taking things up a notch to get more people in the gates. I really enjoy the new advertising. Its very fresh, and not cheap looking at all like the old ads. And the addition of new buildings like Mrs Clauses Fudge Shop and restaurants like the Wildibeestro are going to be nice for the park. But the part of the park that I have my eye on is in Thanksgiving where the remains of Girrafica reside. What the park really needs to compete is a nice big steel coaster. Something to get everyone excited about again like the park did when the Voyage opened. And I believe that they know that too. I was at the park a lot the past few years and Pilgrims Plunge was running a good part of the time. Yes, the lines were very short, but the ride was a seemingly high capacity ride. And yes, Intimin does have a safety issue attached to their rides. But I have a feeling that Pilgrims Plunge has been on the chopping block for awhile. Why? Something big I suppose.
  7. *wakes up from long hibernation* YAWWWWWNNNNN... what did I miss? ..huh? People are reminiscing? Yeah I miss those guys too. Those were the good ole' days. I missed this place so I figured I'd pop in and put my two cents in a topic or two. Lol. On the restraints rumor: If I were a betting man, I would say no restraints on opening day. But I would not be surprised to see them in the future. The seatbelts probably won't deter many people from coming through the gates and spending their nickels in the park. And it can only increase safety and help to avoid a tragedy like those at the six flag parks last year. Its a wise business decision imo. I'm still not sure if I want them though. Depends if they're on my lap or the lapbar.
  8. So does everyone else, unfortunately.
  9. ^That's a shocker to me. Not trying to start a war. But I would have figured you'd say Diamondback or AE or something. Why Raven?
  10. I've only ever visited Holiday World, Kings Island, and Cedar Point. And my least favorite coasters have to be either Legend at Holiday World or Adventure Express at KI. Legend just simply beats the tar out of you. I am a great fan of airtime, but laterals really don't get me all that excited. And Legend is lateral heaven. Its a shame that its not my cup of tea. To me, it just beats the tar out of my ribs and hips. Its one of the only coasters that I am ready for it to be over. If anyone has any tips, please tell me because I visit Holiday World extremely frequently. And Adventure Express is just an easy pick. Its very boring. Absolutely forceless. And IMO overrated. Mine rides aren't very thrilling to me.
  11. This isn't Santa Claus, is it?
  12. Incentives for members could be FUN. But I have noticed that if people post simply for the sake of racking up posts, post quality seems to go by the wayside. A good member of the community is not shown by his/her number of posts, but instead, by the quality of his/her posts. But yes, I also think that it is great to brainstorm ideas on how to make the KIC Community that we all love better
  13. ^I was trying to see if we could make it an hour without this topic blowing up. And look what you have done. On a serious note. Think about it. What is the difference between an inverted wing coaster and a standard wing coaster in terms of rider experience? Absolutely nothing. Nada. Your literately in the exact same position as before. On the sides of the track. From a mechanical standpoint, it would very likely put a lot more stress on the wheels or the train and the track to try to invert a wing rider. (Which is pointless.) So why on Earth would B&M or Cedar Fair want to even think about that. It simply does not make any sense. And when I hear of the concept on every other page of this thread, I want to pull my hair out. Lol. Make it stop.
  14. YoungStud is trolling again, making new user names. Your trolling here bro making ridiculous accusations! Hmm let me see. People who always rant about B&M and praise Intamin:Big Sexy YoundStud Intaminisnumber1 I'm sensing a reoccurring theme I found it funny that once the name YoungStud became infamous on the forum, BigSexy stopped posting. What a coincidence. Lol.
  15. Scary stuff. You guys are correct though. As rare as it is, it is generally found in warm fresh-water. This actually happened in my community last year. http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/09/04/brain-eating-amoeba-suspected-in-indiana-man-death/
  16. Sweet! Thank you Dane! I, as well as MANY, appreciate the things you do behind the scenes. And I admire the fairness you bring in times of adversity. Hopefully good times are here to stay So, let's get to business. Does anyone have any new activity to report as of the 24th?
  17. Sorry for the double post, but you guys are seriously just being downright mean right now. I'm starting to lose some respect right now, and its not for HTCO.
  18. I want to see where HTCO said specifically to go while the park was closed to get pictures. In the middle of the night. HE DID NOT. End of story. ASAP obviously means first thing in the morning. He barely said anything, because he's legally bound, and everyone went nuts.
  19. You obviously weren't here to camp out and wait for Diamondback. RIP Trailer Tower.. you are dearly missed by a handful.
  20. I just wanted to add that Holiday World has shut down Pilgrims Plunge indefinitely, following the StR incident, for inspection.
  21. The addition of a new family restroom as stated in the memo makes me believe that the project is going to be a lot of expansion in the back of the clearing as well. Because there is already a bathroom a stones throw away from the Thunder Alley area. So, I'm starting to think we have more than one ride on our hands.
  22. YoungStud, you said you saw green Intamin coaster track. Correct? Doesn't Intamin deliver its track pieces in containers? How do you know the color if its in a container?
  23. YoungStud, you said you saw green Intamin coaster track. Correct? Doesn't Intamin deliver its track pieces in containers? How do you know the color if its in a container?
  24. Did we every Decode what these went to? Wait. I wonder if they look like this color green? Hoot. Hoot.
  25. The announcement is generally the week before season passes go on sale. So, late August or early September is a good guess.
