  1. Yeah I do not at all understand why these wristbands are only $5.
  2. I believe that the man you overheard was indeed a parkgoer. He may have looked like a business man, but I doubt he was. I think that a Flight Deck/Son of Beast demo is a possibility that is on the Cedar Fair table. That would leave quite a bit of new room that the park could use. But in my eyes, I don't see Cedar Fair taking down Flight Deck unless there is mechanical wear that they know (or downtime issues) of that would cause problems in the next 5-10 years. Which, there very may could be that we are not aware of. But if I were a betting man, I'd say no. SOB may have lived it's last days though.
  3. From the beginning, I always questioned the Koch motive for Bluegrass Boardwalk. Do I believe they were trying to protect Holiday World? Yes. But do I also believe that they wanted to see Bluegrass Boardwalk suscede? Yes. I think it's possible to play both sides of the coin while still pleasing everyone. Besides Mr. Hart. Now, with Holiday World pretty much at my doorstep, I'm pretty biased. I wouldn't be terribly upset if KK didn't reopen. Simply because it is beneficial for the Koch family and Holiday World. This means that Holiday World can grow. But on the other hand, I feel for the Louisville residents. I know I would be devastated if Holiday World ever closed. Just the sentimental value of he place, honestly. I also feel for Mr. Hart. I hope he can be a large part of the future (if there is one) of Kentucky Kingdom. He seems to really love that place like his child.
  4. Which is sad. And I hate to hear that the decision wasn't unanimous. I really hope that there is no bad blood between the Kochs. They all seem so nice, and I feel like they've been through alot.
  5. You could find me camping out between Son of Beast and Flight Deck. For sure. I like it back there. Idk why. Lol. Maybe scale SOB's supports for fun.
  6. I went to Kings Island and I came to realize how much I appreciate Holiday Worlds very conservative dress code. I saw so many belly buttons, boobs, offensive t-shirts, dudes with shirts off. Normally, this doesn't at all bother me. But it was kinda pestering. Me and my girlfriend were actually playing a game of trying to find classy-dressing people throughout the park. The restraints were people who looked "cute yet conservative." It was actually pretty entertaining while waiting in line. Now you see, I go to Holiday World about 20 times a year. I'm used to their dress code. Even walking down the midways, you'll get stopped by park staff and asked to either put a shirt on or change an offensive one. Actually, one time I was walking up the hill out of Splahin Safari while wearing a cutoff. In the humidity, my cutoff had rolled up at the cut just enough where it revealed one of my nipples. Being a guy, normally this wouldn't be "too" offensive. But halfway between the exit of SS and Hallowswings, I was stopped by a park employee and asked to change. When I claimed that I didn't have another shirt, they provided me a new shirt. A Cleveland Browns shirt actually. Makes me wonder where they got it. Oh well. Lol
  7. Okay, on contrary to what has been said on this board, you CAN buy 20 oz drink wristbands for $5 and some change. I got mine on Saturday at about midday at the Skyline Chili stand in Coney Mall. No questions asked. The rest of the day I went stand after stand and got multiple drinks each trip. Not just one. All day.
  8. Where is the cheapest place to get Holiday World tickets? I hear a gas station in Dale?
  9. Okay, so there is pretty much no chance of me getting my hands on a 20 oz wristband when I visit the park this weekend?
  10. I am still also confused. I went with a group last year and we got the drink wristband for the regular paper cups throughout the park. For each person in our group, they cost $10 each. I was hoping that the park sold something like this to non-passholders. Some say yes they do. Some say they do not.
  11. Okay, I know I have been on this site long enough that I should probably know this question by now. But how much are drink wristbands at Kings Island? I only visit the park once a year and I'm trying to avoid Cedar Fairs horrid drink prices. Also, how do I go about getting one of these? I do believe in past years it has been only for passholders, hopefully this has been changed though.
  12. From my experience, Holiday World doesn't get excessively busy until July and August for some reason. Early June seems like a great time to go, even on a weekend. It shouldn't be "too" busy. Now as for Kings Island, going on a Monday may be much more beneficial than going on a Sunday. So I recommend Holiday World on Sunday and Kings Island on Monday. Another word of advice for you: At HW, go to the waterpark earlier. Because around lunchtime, when the sun is beating on people, guests tend to flock to the waterpark. Therefore, you get shorter lines in the waterpark and the shorter lines in the dry side as well!
  13. As for food, I highly recommend pizza at Kringles Kafe in the Christmas section. I don't know what it is, but everytime I go I CRAVE it. At a relatively low cost might I add. If memory serves me right, you can get a combo with a slice of pizza, fries, and a small pack of Oreo cookies for $6. Of course with free drinks, its a good deal IMO. And for dessert, Udderly Blue's ice cream is fantastic. I get a blue waffle cone every time. Its great. Now ride wise, obviously the coasters take the cake. With the Voyage running much much smoother after all of the trackwork this season, it takes the top spot. But for the flats, you cannot miss the Liberty Launch. It packs a good punch for its size, as others have said. The Scrambler, Raging Rapids, Revolution, Gobbler Getaway, and the HallowSwings are all rides I never miss. Some of these aren't the most "thrilling" but I always enjoy them. In my opinion, Splashin' Safari is a great part of the park to visit even if your not normally a waterpark lover. They have something for everyone there. Rides to not miss in here are: Mammoth (which I have yet to ride, unfortunately.), Wildebeest, Pilgrims Plunge, Jungle Racers, Zinga, ZOOMbabwe, and Bakuli. The Bahari Wave Pool and Lazy River are also nice places to go to cool off. Honestly, I could spend a whole day in the waterpark. I hope this helps you out a little, have fun!
  14. T- minus 6 minutes to go! And I hear some elevator music. lol
  15. Hahaha now I feel better knowing I wasn't the only one lmao
  16. I just feel like the dry park has been extremely neglected when it comes to ride additions since 2006.
  17. I don't understand why they would want to get two water coasters back to back like this? And I'm pretty sure that they haven't added a new Holiday World ride (besides Pilgrims Plunge, still water) since Voyage. Its all been Splashin' Safari. :/ I'm itching to see whats going to happen. I'm really really hoping something exciting is going to happen with the dry side. It feels like its been neglected. But I have a sinking feeling that is just going to be a SS expansion.
  18. If it really is another water coaster, I'm going to be really really disappointed.. the water park doesn't need it.
  19. Alrighty here. This may just be a really random dream of mine, but what about a 4th of July expansion? That area is quite small and could use an enhancement. This is where I go crazy though, because what if they expand over the road? Like a sort of bridge. I do believe they own that land as well.
  20. FOFreak's Official Roughness Scale (most rough to least rough) Beast > Son of Beast > Voyage
  21. After three consecutive additions of water rides, I feel like Holiday World is going to add something to the dry side this year. If I were a betting man, I'd say in the Fourth of July section specifically.
  22. Voyage > Diamondback > Raven > Legend > everything else at Kings Island. Nuff said'. And as for the 2012 addition: Paula Werne has also hinted about a prior phone call with Francis Scott Key.
  23. I completely agree that the aggression of the Keyhole employees is very annoying. I can't blame them though, their job must be a very difficult one. Holiday World this year newly implemented a photography concept comparable to Kings Islands. But the photographers are VERY friendly and not aggressive at all. They are very good at not being annoying. But something I don't understand on a money-making standpoint, these photos are free!
