  1. I rode it 8 times yesterday, the last 5 we're after a very hard thunder storm with ALOT of rain. And this was around 3 o clock. The only reason I asked was because the triple-down just didn't feel as intense as it usually does; slower.
  2. I visited Holiday World today and rode in 1-1 and noticed something that felt like a trim at the bottom of the triple-down. It was completely dark, so I coupd not see for sure. But it did slow down a reasonable amount at the bottom of the tunnel. Does anyone here no any more on this matter? And as we are on the subject, does Voyage have any trim brakes other than the possible one noted? I have never really noticed one on my over 100 rides on Voyage. But alas, I hardly even take time to look.
  3. Paul Reveres Midnight Ride at HW is a different model than the Monster at KI. It is fairly more intense and fun than the Monster, IMHO. The Kochs at Holiday World put a major empasis on rider safety; only one guests death has ever been reported at the park. A woman on the Raven did not follow by safety instructions and fell out. Alas, whatever the ride restrictions are they should be very, very safe. And on that particular ride I have seen guests tiptoe to meet the height requirement. Needless to say, they we're perfectly fine. (Disclaimer: Although I do not promote any riders whom do not meet safety regulations of a ride to ride one)
  4. ^Yeah, I was thinking the same exact thing as we we're walking in the parking lot, but I was super suprised on how well the guests we're distributed through the park! It was absolutely worth it. I'm going on Sunday, so I'm gonna try to get a PTR up on Monday!
  5. ^^I seem to have been stumped. My only ideas could be maitenence. And possibly the fact that wooden supports would take alot more wood as compared to steel. And steel was a bit cheaper back in the day. Do you know why?
  6. Steel. Which is one of the leading causes of why it has worn the way it has.
  7. On the Steel vs. Wood debate: Considering the ever growing cost of steel in todays economy, Will's well-known love of wood coasters (assuming he had a role), and the great atmosphere they have going with those woodies all around. I'm going to go ahead and guess that there is a good possiblity that the next coaster HW will get will be once again wood. They are great at what they do, and I, for one, would love to see another coasters to the likes of Voyage at the park. Will they get a steel coaster someday? Most likely. If not this time, it will very, very likely be the next.
  8. thinks that Paula Werne likes to convey hints through subliminal messages, as does another member who posts very regularly to these forums.

  9. Is the majority of this to the North of Voyage and Wildebeests current location?
  10. ^Okay, I can agree with that. But is there anything you could possibly say about how much land they have yet to develop on?
  11. ^^Oh I know. Hmmmm...were you simply referring to acreage? Or perhaps hinting at something involving Lake Rudolph? Wait! Does Terpy Know something we don't? I think he may possibly be onto something. Just maybe.
  12. Okay heres my viewpoint on this. I don't exactly see a new area coming anytime to soon unless they wanna clear land to the right of the Raven station and eliminate the Dive show and then expand that way. The reason being that expanding more past the PP and Voyage could be a tremendous walk for some guests. Not to mention the clutter it would cause on the Thanksgiving midway. The Christmas area doesn't have very much room to do anything in. And there are no current rides in the Christmas section, its used more of a gift shop/resturant area. Then there really isn't much room to expand in the Halloween or 4th of July either. But there is plenty of room to expand behind SS and some area to put new rides in the Thanksiving area. (Terp, do you have anything you could possibly add here?) Now. On the subject of building a new coaster, I could see it possibly happening this offseason. If they decide to go Steel, I think if anything it'll be an Intiman. They've already worked with Intiman in the past and got a great turnout from the deal. I'm willing to bet they'll go to them again. But if its wood, they will definitely go with Gravity Group. No questions asked. The only problem with another woodie is that, IMO I don't think that they can one-up the Voyage. And another Legend or Raven would just be a waste. But on the other hand, they did just put in arguablely the best Wooden Roller Coaster of all time! And its still drawing in crowds from all over the East Coast! I don't really see all that much need for another world-class coaster quite yet. Even though I would love to see one. I'm almost split 50/50 here.
  13. Terp, I missed you a whole bunch while I was gone!! Glad to be back. I love your random puns, they make me happy :)

  14. Cupid's Revenge? Then there could always be the tunnel of love!
  15. Yeah, A was my second guess. But if they decide to add another holiday to they're palate, I'm calling it! Haha probably!
  16. Maybe a new possibilty? http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22059
  17. I went over to Holiday World for the 4th of July Festivies the other day and noticed three different heart shaped fireworks in thier annual firework display, and it reminded me of this Holihint that Paula Werne dropped right before the announcement of the new Thanksgiving area that was coming to the park in 2006: http://web.archive.org/web/20060318131444/www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2005/07/oooooo-aaaaaaahhhh.html Was this a very stratigic hint dropped by a very notorius, Paula Werne? Maybe a Valentines Day section maybe be coming to Holiday World in 2011?
  18. Okay, I decided against bringing my camera for the day, because I didn't feel like lugging it around all day. But this definitely turned out to be a mistake. It would have been an absolutely great day for pictures. Alas, bear with me while I type all of this. We arrived at the park around 11:30 CDT to see all of the Raven Lot full and half of the Legend Lot full. The whole family in the van with me almost sighed in harmony as we saw the crowd. So we parked and walked to the gates. We got our passes scaned and immeadiately went to Splashin' Safari. We got our locker and headed straight for the Congo River. It was a great way to get used to the water and at the same time cool down, because when we had left the van it had said it was 87* outside. Even though it felt alot hotter. So after a few laps around the lazy river, we hopped out and went on the Green family slide (I honestly have no idea what its called). We waited about 25 minutes for this. It was a pretty fun ride. So after that we headed to Wildebeest, we agreed that we didn't care if we got to ride together, so we hoped in the Single Riders Line. This took about 35 minutes and I came to the conclusion that the front seat definitely gets the most airtime! It was a really great ride! I'm not usually a huge fan of water rides, but this one is by far the best I've ever been on! Must ride if you like airtime and/or water slides. After this we decided to go Take the Plunge! We got in line and waited about 30 minutes. I've came to the conclusion after many times of riding, even though it looks huge and scary, its bark is way more than its bite. It offers a decent ride, but just lacks airtime. Its a fun ride but just doesn't deliver in my opinion. After this my little brother and sister got tired of waiting in lines, so we went and played in the Bahari Wave Pool for a little while. We all decided we've had enough of the water rides around 2ish, so we got dressed and headed back into Holiday World. We had the munchies so we stopped by Kringles Kafe, where I had a slice of chesse pizza (which I absolutely love at Holiday World), an order of fries, and cheese. Once everyone was finished eating, we headed into the 4th of July section to go ride Paul Revere's Midnight Ride, otherwise dubbed 'the Octopus'. It was pretty much a walk on! I was so suprised, apparently the majority of the crowd was in Splashin' Safari all day. We packed three people into a seat and spun and spun and spun, I'm guessing because of the weight. It was a great little flat. After one of our numerous stops at the nearest Pepsi Oasis, we headed for Liberty Launch, which to our disapointment was closed for maintainence. But the very friendly ride op informed us that it would only be about a 5 minute wait because they we're just about to start testing it again. So we we're the very first to ride after testing was over, it was great! I would almost venture to say that it has been running its best this year than any previous. So after much anticipation, next up was Voyage! I had almost been dreading the wait, I thought it would be somewhere around 40 minutes. But nope! We walk up into the queue and we're extremely surprised that it went right up into the staircase beside the station. 10 minute wait. Me and my dad sat in the 1st row of the last car, with my brother and sister in front of us, then mom another row up. It was an absolutely great ride, a little rough once you get to the turn around, but still very fun! Mom and the kids decided to take a break and go to the Gobbler Getaway (target shooting game, just like Boo Blasters), but after seeing how short the line was, me and dad got back in line for Voyage, and then went back again, and again! Then the whole family got back in and did 2 more rides, and me and my dad did 3. I was amazed at how many rides we could get in in such little time! All being about 10 minute waits. After our Voyage rides, we took a spin on the Turkey Whirl. another walk-on. Next we walked up to the Halloween section and rode on the Hallowswings. Which I think is definitely better then Zepher, because at one point in the ride you actually get a tiny bit of airtime. Next up: Legend. We waited about 15 minutes for this one, because the crowd was slowly coming back from Splashin Safari around 5. The ride was a little rough, but I liked the terrain and it gave some great laterals and the first hill was great! Once we got off we all ended up walking towards Raven, and all of a sudden my brother and sister got distracted by the dive show, so my mom and them stayed behind to watch it while dad and I hit the Raven. It was an absolute walk on! there was maybe 6 people in the station it was awesome! We got the second to last row. And all I can say is that the Raven packs a big punch for such a little ride! The first hill is great and the helix on the water is awesome, and then the drop into the woods is a great surprise when you don't see it coming and then the second half of the ride is so thick in the woods and pretty much Beast-like. Must ride. It normally has a short line. We even got a re-ride on it because absoultely no one was in line! After our laps on Raven we all had the urge to go hit Voyage again. The wait was a little longer since Splashin Safari was getting closer and closer to closing. It was about 6:15 by now and it closes at 7:30. The wait was about 25 minutes by now. We waited it out and got another amazing ride! We all decided that the wait was only gonna get longer so we hit it one more time. That rose my Voyage count up to 9 for the day! And it was starting to get dark. Me and the family went up to Halloween and rode the Legend and Raven one more time. And they we're both amazing in the dark!! 10/10 Then I met up with my cousin, Pyrce, outside of the Raven exit. We decided to split up from the family and go hit Legend. And by this time it was 8:30 and completely dark! It was probably the best ride I've ever gotten from the Voyage ever! I'm still in shock. So this is where the fun begins, it was 8:45. Pitch black outside. And the fireworks we're scheduled to go off at 9:30. We hopped into the Voyage queue, and waited 30 minutes to get on Voyage. When we got in the station the ride ops we're super energetic, having a good time, and playing a game between each other to see who could get the most high-5's from the riders! LOL. It was just a great atmosphere. And then it was our turn, we we're super pumped! We couldn't see out the station, it was that dark! We got buckled in the very back row, and we we're off! It was tottaly dark besides the stars, and maybe a few rides here and there. It was so amazing! The first hills we're so dark, and then back in the woods, and then the triple=down in total darkness took the cake! Best ride I've had by far. And then just our luck, the only riders left in the station we're in the first two rows! So the ride ops let us ride in that madness for a second time!! Then we got off just in time to meet back with our family for a spectacular fireworks show! I had a great day at a great park. Ride Count: Voyage: 11 Legend: 3 Raven: 3 Wildebeest: 1 Pilgrims Plunge: 1 Liberty Launch: 1 Halloswings: 1 Paul Reveres Midnight Ride: 1 Turkey Whirl: 1 Congo River: 1
  19. Maybe for of them possibly? *stops horrible golfing puns*
  20. My logic stems from the fact that as seeing that Cedar Fair has neglected to maintain Flight Deck well ever since they acquired it from Paramount in 2007. And as it seems that Son of Beast will soon meet its untimely demise, it could be a great chance for the park to take out two birdies with one stone and come out with an eagle.
  21. From the insuing Son of Beast soap opera that has been of unfolding for quite some time, I'm going to take a stab at what I think might happen in the outskirts of the Action Zone area: SoB stays SBNO for the entirety of 2011, FD takes its final rides at the end of the 2011 season, then FD and SoB are demo-ed together and made room for an area expansion in 2012. I would personally love to see a new area that wraps into X-Base, because X-Base has alot of potential. Firehawk and Flight of Fear are personally two of my favorite rides in the park. I love the theming in that area; even though Cedar Fair is a stickler for not themeing any of thier rides.
  22. Okay, I've been reading through this thread for a while trying to figure out what I missed while I was gone. Can someone put this in simple terms for me? Who owns Kings Island at this time?
  23. What is you favorite Kings Island YouTube montages? I tend to watch these things constantly! These are the type of things that just make me wanna go to Kings Island so bad!
  24. Ride the Voyage and you will think very differently
