  1. While coming back into the station on Beast I overhear... "That's why it's the longest wooden coaster, because it takes so long to go up the first hill." Apparently, the amount of feet you travel has nothing to do with it. It is the amount of time you spend on the lift hill....
  2. There was a conversation today about SOB... My thoughts? IT IS GOOD AS GONE. DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE. DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT 200,000 IN BRAIN DAMAGE LAWSUIT! Time to move on with the future and get away from the past.
  3. I am not even going to say anything here, because I will be warned or kicked off the forums. Just know, that I support Gary 200%.
  4. No spitting from moving coaster trains either! Yes, a kid in front of me on Diamondback tried to SPIT on the people on the ground in the helix before splashdown. He was in odd and I was in even, needless to say it hit my FOOT! I gave him a piece of my mind. He was like 11. Another time a kid was doing the weightless thing with a cup and a ball or some type of object, I yelled at him as I was behind him. "THAT"S ILLEGAL IN OHIO!" His face turned white and he put it away. I don't know if it is illegal, but I did not see the object for the remainder of the ride. Loose change it a big problem on Diamondback. Make sure when you go, wear cargo pants / shorts with zipper or velcro pockets. Stuff everything in there, and you are good to go.
  5. My friend Jan and I ride with Gary all the time. It is pretty much the only ride we ride. It is the newest. We have ridden everything else. Old news. Gary works mornings for a family business, is a minister, and has a life other than Diamondback. Diamondback is his (our) escape from the woes of everything that is bothering us at the time. You may see us 3 together at the park when you go. A short guy, a woman, and ME....LOL We will probably be there for his 3000th tonight.
  6. Well, I wouldn't really consider there to be 10 drops. I would not call coming into the brake run a drop. Diamondback has 9 true drops. With the first 6 being taller than Racer's first drop.
  7. Tributes to dead celebrities are wrong? OK? What about the guy hanging from the train bridge, clearly visible from Diamondback's second half? Or the guy kicking and squirming in the bag hanging from a tree on Trail Of Terror, or the severed heads hanging from a tree? Back on topic though.... the season before they had King Cobra trains with Skeletons in them. Which means that if SOB was renovated in 2007/2008, the cars were used in 2008 for Haunt.
  8. Montu is far better, why not a Montu clone? Talon is better than Raptor, I would like a Talon clone.
  9. I say a terrain inverted coaster like Montu.... I LOVE Montu. Oh... BTW I get to ride Montu next week!
  10. If you want maximum air time on Diamondback sit in row 16. EVERY drop has air time. Make sure you listen for the clicks when you pull your harness down. 3 is the magic number.
  11. Define the term "hyper coaster" then tell my why SheiKra and Griffon are not on the list. I would choose... Diamondback, SheiKra, AC, and Griffon.
  12. Someone would trip and hurt themselves and blame it on the wood from the coaster.
  13. Actually, if you look a little closer at the list you linked to, there are not 6, but 4 (or more accurately, 3 now). Pepsi-Cola Loop at Ocean Beach Amusement Park and Pepsi-Cola Loop at Ffrith Beach Fun Parc are the same coaster but relocated, and Pepsi Ripsaw and Pepsi Orange Streak at Mall of America are the same coaster but renamed. So a Pepsi sponsership is even rarer than you thought! Off topic, but in looking at the other Pepsi coasters, this image struck me: http://www.rcdb.com/909.htm?p=4275. I've never seen a modern coaster with a loop that is that much of a perfect circle. A large majority of loops are more elliptical than that one! Blackpool Pleasure Beach has "Pepsi Max Big One" http://rcdb.com/775.htm EDIT: NM, just looked at Coney Island Rocks link. Sorry, it is late and I can't sleep...LOL
  14. TILT-A-WHIRL!! They need to put a nice Tilt-A-whirl in the Coney section. One on par with the one at Cedar Point. It is one of the best TAW I have been on. I could ride a good Tilt-a-whirl all day....lol
  15. The paw prints were still there through the end of the 2008 season... I just happened to look down and see this.
  16. I helped with setting up the model on August 6, 2008.
  17. Eagles Flight is hard to snap.... however we hit the trees a few times. I think all the coasters were great..... we rode Voyage, Legend, then Raven. Each gave it's own unique ride...... and they LOVE their tunnels. All three have tunnels. Pace yourself. If just go, go, go.... you can easily do the entire dry park before noon. Take the Plunge early in the day. Today the wait was only 5 minutes when we rode at about 1030am Drink stands are easy to spot. I drank mostly orange Gatoraide and water. Food in Thanksgiving is fabulous. A $9 meal which includes meat, 3 sides, a roll or corn bread, and a drink(which are free anyway) will cost nearly $15 or more at Kings Island. I was ready for a nap afterwards....LOL I was satisfied with my meal. I have only been this once, and by all means I am not an expert on the park. I am just briefly describing what we did today in hopes it may be helpful to you or anyone else who may go. VOYAGE 1:3 EJECTOR CITY!!!!
  18. My favorites are when the ride ops are saying push down and pull up on the speakers, but you still have people stuck in the restraint not releasing it correctly. I usally tell them push down and pull up and on occasion helped them out when the gates opened for me to load the train! I would just make the bozos ride again... if they aren't smart enough to follow directions, they need the crap scared out of them.
  19. I haven't heard any good ones recently, however I am always listening for them. Not really something false that people say, but I hear this all the time at Diamondback. "There's no seat belt!" Then you know you have a first timer....LOL
  20. I was 11 in 1993 when we first visited Busch Gardens Tampa. My first 3 coasters in order were Scorpion, Python, then Kumba.
  21. They had fireworks on Sunday.
  22. I was very pleased with Sunday's crowd. 25 minutes was the most we waited for Diamondback.
