  1. My Great Great Grandfather introduced this breed to the United States. We bred the horses and sold them to circuses! Sounds like a fun event.
  2. So, what Amusement Park stuff do you like to collect? Any esecially neat items in your collection?
  3. Reminds me of my visit to Universal Studios Hollywood... The Revenge of the Mummy had very loud machinery in the queue room. And with the five train stack up, you have to sit directly over that said noisemaker for about three and a half minutes. (It hurt your ears!)
  4. I hear you there. Homework at Walnut Hills High School is unbearable. I've been forfeiting sleep time for KICentral, Dafe, park blueprinting, and whatever else I find productive towards getting a career in the field... Actually, I've been getting (more or less) 6 hours of sleep every school night. But I've been happy, keeping good grades, and having new ideas, so life is great! As for KICentral, people have been rather insufferable, lately. A few things I'd keep in mind: When someone posts something against the Terms of Service, the first member to reply should have the right to correct them. Whole pages commenting on a single post... People get fired up and mean to each other. Must I say irrational thought takes place? Respect should be given to every poster, no matter his or her history. Every single member has the ability to keep this a positively wonderful place. (Yes, that means you! ) Edit: Wise words from a significant poster on this site... Teachable moment? That makes two of us. Not saying anyone in this thread has done anything wrong (no one has), but one of the reasons I long prefered KIExtreme to KICentral was that, despite being a smaller community (and one that is frequented by small post counts) I never felt "stupid." You'll notice that I "joined" five years ago (just like Miss Molly), though my post count doesn't reflect that. It's because, every time I decided to post here, for the first 100 posts or so, everyone most people some people treated me like I had no idea what I was talking about and I was useless. My post quality has remained the same; only my quantity has increased. And now, I'm no longer treated like an idiot (and a few lost souls out there may actually respect some of the things I have to say). So was it just because I was new? Not fair, and not conducive to creating a lively, fresh, interesting discussion board. There are little details that simply come with time as you grow and adapt to a new board - for example, if Miss Molly hangs around til she gets 500 posts, her topic titles will not be as long; she will bump a thread instead of starting a new one; these are things that one must learn (and be taught) and do not come naturally. I plead with you all to be accepting of new members and to try to make them feel welcome. Everyone (yes, everyone) started with 1 post. And how different would this place be had The Interpreter, or coaster_junky, or CincyMan98, or Beast1979, or standbyme been so offended by their intial treatment, that they did not return? Who knows if we've lost incredible contributors just because we were not welcoming? It's a shame... To answer your question (as others have, but I'll verify), yes, your pass will get you into Halloween Haunt. At Kings Island, the Halloween event is not a separately ticketed event - you can come during the day, and stay into the evening when the "festivities" begin at no extra charge. Not all Cedar Fair parks offer that, but Kings Island's does. Goodyellowkorn182, this site wouldn't be the same without you. I, and I'm sure many other people look forward to your posts. KirkSheppard, I hope your time on KICentral has improved completely since your first few weeks of posting. And great new site, by the way! I do not go to Kings Island very often, so barely ever have the pleasure to experience any part of Kings Island's entertainment sector. Most fan sites seem to shy away from discussing their home park's entertainment. In conclusion, as The Interpreter has said, "Things are more like they are now than they were when I got here." So very true...
  5. I'd say the next coaster should be a family coaster. Particularly about one with Diamondback style hills, with The Beast styled terrain zooming. (There's a certain model I have in mind that would be perfect, but can't recall its name.) // I'd expect the next coaster addition to be B&M... Likely inverted or floorless.
  6. Or they could add some sort of park transportation system, just about eliminating the problem.
  7. Well... There goes my chances toward getting a season pass!
  8. During Chemistry, my teacher was teaching us how real milk is heterogeneous but store milk is homogeneous. Kid 1: What about blue milk? Mrs. Hansen: What milk? Kid 2: Kings Island Milk!
  9. Also, Wildebeest has been considered (by Holiday World) a coaster. I doubt they'll get another one too soon... Especially with the general 5 years between coaster additions. Also see: http://www.KICentral...=1entry381191
  10. The PM feature is broken. Your phone working?

  11. If you're thinking of getting into Halloween events, Kings Island's Halloween Haunt is a good start. Out of the three Halloween events I've been to, USS Nightmare, Dent Schoolhouse and Halloween Haunt, Halloween Haunt (in my opinion) is definitely the least intense. But, keep in mind that both USS Nightmare and Dent Schoolhouse are award winning. Also, Intense attractions necessarily going to be good. The day I went, the park was extremely busy; As a result, I've only walked through Massacre Manor and Trail of Terror. Massacre Manor: Very well themed and great fun, but rather short. The many amusing theming fixtures make up for the not too scary atmosphere. (Make sure you don't miss any of the "Emily" portraits!) Trail of Terror: Much longer and scarier than the former. No animatronics, but with such great scare actors, high tech thrills are not needed... nor preferred. The closest you can get to an old fashioned Haunted Trail. (Also, have you seen the movie "The Mist"? Trail of Terror's fog is THAT thick in some areas. Scare actors emerge from the mist... They look like ghosts!)
  12. Raven has my very favorite element on any coaster I've ever ridden. Of what I've experienced... X2's Summersaults. Tornado's "Cliff." Beast's Final Helix. Giant Dipper's (Santa Cruz) Tunnel. Expedition Everest's Final Drop. Top Thrill's Launch. Millie's Forces. A certain element on Raven tops all... And by far!
  13. I'd say its much more likely something new is built, than the area's current attractions just being refurbished. Wether it be the Wyandot Lake slides, the log flume pieces or the "miniature golf" Screamscape rumor, I'm not sure. // Also, I'd much hope Snake River Rapids not to be removed. Its a very fun and unique attraction for the whole family... Another one of those deep forest rides that makes The Beach so unique. (My third favorite attraction in the park... Hidden Rapids first, Aztec Adventure second.) 1 The archived 1997 website has a lot of great descriptions to currently operating "flumes." http://web.archive.o...hwaterpark.com/ Edit: Looking through archives, found a much better description to Snake River Rapids:
  14. http://www.KICentral...showtopic=21883 In a post by TOPGUN1993, there's an overhead view of the Wyandot Lake slides. As for the log flume pieces, I have no idea... // The Beach has had a number of rather large general improvements this year. I'll post the PTR, if I can find the time.
  15. 1. Enchanted Voyage 2. Phantom Theater 3. Lion Country Safari Monorail 4. Kenton Cove Keelboat Canal 5. Zodiac
  16. McSalsa: Do you mean "flat" in the literal sense? In other words, would the transportation rides and dark rides be available? (Log Flumes are, so yes?)
  17. Or welcome back, I guess? ^_^

  18. Welcome to KICentral!

  19. Taken from my Nokia Phone: Interesting... I'd guess that both Snake River Rapids and Jolly Mon Shores will reopen. They're definitely not pretending these attractions don't exist, as Cedar Fair or Six Flags would try to do.
  20. It would of make sense for Cedar Fair to have bought many of these, and fit them into each of their parks' 3 year rotation. Extremely marketable, and fairly inexpensive... Leaves many, many millions to be distributed among the parks, for general park improvements.
  21. Even though the signs point directly to Cedar Point getting a WindSeeker, nothing is official nor will be until next week.
  22. Knott's makes much more sense than Canada's Wonderland... But still... The Hint.
  23. According to RCDP, Python no Pepsi: http://www.rcdb.com/406.htm That was pretty fast, considering all the work such a website must be...
  24. Originally, Amusement Parks always included two elements. The element of Amusement, and the element of Thrill. More recently, the thrill element has taken over almost completely, in certain places. See Cedar Point. They still have shows, part of the "Amusement" category, but their shows, for the most part, are not near the level of their thrill rides. (Not that an impressive show schedule is hard to come by... Sea World, Universal, and Disney all have a large variety of shows, many of which are outright amazing.) Although Cedar Point's gardens, also part of the "Amusement" category, are truly breathtaking. (If I must say so myself!)
  25. Does the Eiffel Tower at Kings Island have any particular life span? The Eiffel Tower in Paris has been standing since 1889... But I'm not sure Kings Island spends anywhere in that ball park, maintenance- wise.
