  1. "Long and Burgel both said they had posted comments about the incident to King Island's Facebook page, but the comments were removed. When Johnson checked, two similar comments were still posted on the Facebook site. "If you've used a debit card at Kings Island in the past few days, check your statement. They billed me 10 times for one purchase. Heard of another person being charged $500 for a $25 pizza. They are deleting these comments, so pass it along!" one read." On the one hand, they were trying to warn other people about the incident, but at the same time, the first thing many people want to do these days if they were slighted in the least bit is plaster it all over social media and make a mountain out of a molehill. Anyways, it sounds like many customers' issues have already been fixed or are in the process of being fixed.
  2. Kudos to these guys for the hard work they do. Glad to see they're getting some recognition. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20130402/NEWS01/304030056/Kings-Island-crews-always-testing-fixing
  3. Oh yes do I remember Fantasy Farm. Practically grew up there as a kid. Great little place. What always stands out to me the most when I think back on that park is the old haunted house. It used to scare me to death as a kid! It seems like I remember it being in a white building and there were the faces of Frankenstein, it seems like a purple gorilla and other characters painted on the outside of the building. I remember standing in line and hearing the soundtrack of wherewolves howling and just other general scary sound effects from the speakers. You didn't walk through it, but instead you rode in the black people mover cars. I remember one scene that was like a Christine type of scene. It was a scene of car headlights suddenly turning on and a horn blowing. It scared the crap out of everybody, lol. Boy do I miss those old dark rides. They are a treasure. I would love to see what that old haunted house building looks like now. I wonder if it still has the characters still painted on the side and any of the props still stashed away in there? Oh well, one can always dream.....
  4. On a related note, Star 93.3, WAKW in Cincinnati started playing Christmas music this past weekend.
  5. At the very least, wait until Halloween is over. There's nothing that irks me more than going into a store and seeing Christmas stuff next to Halloween stuff a month and a half before Halloween.
  6. For adult attractions, I voted other. For me, it's a toss up between Lewisburg Haunted Cave and Chamber of Horrors in Middletown. The idea of using a cave for a haunted attraction is genius in and of itself. That element alone makes it scary. But the scenes and actors are top notch also and provide genuine scares throughout. It's definitely worth the drive up there to experience. It's one unique experience. Chamber of Horrors just doesn't get enough love around these parts, but I think it's one of the best around. It's definitely a hidden gem. The actors are some of the most intense that I've ever seen. They really get into their roles. They don't have the most high tech, expensive props and scenes around, but they make the best out of what they have. If you're into the high tech, expensive robotics and fancy props to scare you, this wouldn't be the place for you. But if your into a good old fashion haunted house experience, then I highly recommend this attraction. As far as kids attractions go, I answered other, only because based upon the way the poll is set up, I had to answer it, lol. I've never attended any of the kid attractions, so I wouldn't know the best ones around.
  7. How do you get all of this inside information, man? I mean, I'm assuming some way or another you have some connections to the higher ups, but I'm surprised they would even give you any information considering you're an "outsider."
  8. There is a show on PBS Think TV Channel 16.2 called Great Old Amusement Parks. It's on right now, but according to the Think TV website, it will be aired multiple times in the next few days. Below is a link for more info on the show. http://thinktv.org/externalPages/tv/onai_bro_episode.php?versionId=224401 **Mods, if there's already been a topic posted on this, please delete this thread. I searched, but didn't find anything.
  9. What?? SMDH!! I mean, where do people come up with this stuff? I just don't understand how this statement would even make sense in their mind. I would hope that they are just joking around, but sadly I doubt he or she really was. I mean, do they think these towers have legs and they move around at night? Ugghhh, just don't get it.
  10. I'm not quite as tall as you, but I'm almost 6'3" with broad shoulders and those over the shoulder restraints have always been uncomfortable for me. Their definitely not made for big shoulder people like myself. As far as the running goes, try to keep with it because it's one of the quickest ways to lose weight. I've lost about 23 pounds over the last 3 months by running and eating better. If I were you, I would start off running just a little bit and gradually increase the amount of time you run. You don't want to overdo it at first. Eventually, your body starts to get used to it and you'll be amazed at how far and how long you can run after a while. I jog at a local park and there is a hill there that is a beast to run up. When I first started running, I could barely make it a quarter way up the way. But everytime I went out to jog, I'd try to run up the hill just a little further each time, even if it was just a few steps further. I am now at the point where I can run up the hill with no problem and it's an awesome feeling.
  11. I concur with Interpreter; it existed. A family member of mine (Bill Johnson), used to own the park and I also remember riding it a lot as a kid.
  12. Boy I hope we don't have another Bat or Tomb Raid/Crypt ride where it's more trouble than it's worth. Sure not off to a good start.
  13. Great to hear that! Good luck and keep it up! Kings Island also gave me a good kick in the butt to lose some weight. At Halloween Haunt last year, there were 2 different ride operators who tried to buckle my safety belt on Drop Tower. The second one was finally able to push down hard enough to get it buckled, but nonetheless, it was a very tight fit. Then when the ride was done, everybody else was leaving the ride, while I was waiting for a ride operater to come over to unbuckle my safety belt because I couldn't unbuckle it myself. It was that tight. It was very embarrassing and I vowed that that would never happen again. I've lost about 35 pounds since then and still losing. It may have embarrassing then, but now that I look back at it, it was actually a good thing that this happened to me. It was just the motivation I needed to lose some weight.
  14. I agree. I've always had broad, big shoulders, which have always caused problems for me on rides with shoulder harnesses. Even when I was in shape, the shoulder harnesses always were always uncomfortable for me because of my big shoulders. So, the combination of big shoulders with a bigger gut, certainly didn't help with trying to buckle the safety belt on Drop Tower at the time. That was the only ride I had trouble on and I was at 187 pounds at the time. So, I definitely agree that it's all about body proportions.
  15. Kings Island's marketing department should use this as a promotional gimmick. Something like, not only is Kings Island fun, it also helps you lose weight!! In all seriousness though, it truly did provide me with the kick in the butt to get myself into gear to lose weight. I was at Halloween Haunt last October and I noticed that things were just a little more snug than usual on a lot of the rides. The last straw was when I got onto Drop Tower. After getting in my seat, I pulled the shoulder harness down. I then tried to snap the safety belt together and it wouldn't quite reach to snap in. So a female ride attendant had to come over and push down on the shoulder harness a little more, but she couldn't get it either. Finally a male ride attendent came over, pressed down really hard on the shoulder harness and was able to get it snapped into place. Boy was that a tight fit. Anyways, after the ride was done, I then couldn't get the darn thing to unbuckle because it was so tight, I couldn't press down on my shoulder harness enough to get the darn thing to unbuckle. It was very embarrassing to say the least and after that incident, I vowed to lose weight. I'm proud to say that I've lost about 30 pounds since then and am working on losing even more. I'm bound and determined not to let that happen again.
  16. That's awful, just awful! If I were those people, I'd be suing the living crap out of them. Unfortunately, it's the sign of the times. Greed over customers. What a shame.
  17. @thatbandguy8807, yep that's what I'm going to tell her. Thanks **Mods, you can close or delete this topic.
  18. Lol! Ok, so is that really the name of it lol. I mean it wouldn't surprise me since they changed everything now pretty much to just generic names lol.
  19. Just a quick question. Somebody recently asked me about the "smurf" blueberry ice cream and if they still sold it. Yea, they haven't been to Kings Island for a long time, lol. Anyways, they were asking me what it's called now so they can get some the next time they go. I know they still sell it, but I never bought any the last time I was there. So my question is, is it now called something else or is it just like a generic name such as blueberry ice cream? Thanks for the help guys.
  20. Why would people bring their pets to Kings Island? I'm not saying this as an insult. I'm just curious. What kind of people use the Pet Care service? Is it like people who are traveling through the area, have pets and decide to stop at Kings Island for the day? This is interesting.
  21. I would hope not. As someone mentioned before, I could just imagine that being a mess and the germs on those machines.....Just makes me cringe thinking about it.
  22. I've never worked at KI, but since I have a degree in mass communications, my dream job would be in the marketing and public relations office. I'd be "in the know" on new and future projects planned for the park and I'd be right smack in the middle of an amusement park! Can't get any better than that.
  23. Oops ok thanks. I searched, but it didn't bring up anything. The search engine for this forum leaves a lot to be desired. Anyways, if any moderators out there see this, please delete this topic.
  24. "Think about the tallest, wildest roller coaster you've ever been on. If a Southern California design firm has its way, you haven't felt anything yet. BRC Imagination Arts is proposing a "zero gravity" roller coaster that would give thrill seekers a stomach-churning ride including at least eight seconds of microgravity...." http://www.space.com...er-coaster.html
  25. Ok, well that makes me feel a little better then. I guess what I'm trying to get at is kids are just exposed to so much bad influences these days that there's hardly any escape. If the world becomes such where a parent has to worry about having to take their kid to Disney for fear of being exposed to a drunken patron/s, then God help us all.
