  1. Option 1: Sell it for $4 and make $2.50 per sale (I'm guessing here) Option 2: Sell it for $2.50 and make $1 per sale It all comes down to how many more or less you would sell at each price point. Many on here would argue that you'd sell enough more at the lower price point to justify. Others in CF HQ disagree.
  2. Pretty sure I played Lazer Tag (Photon) before you were born, so the the whole "first came out" thing is slightly off. 5 minutes later, I'm still laughing at this comment.
  3. Agree with the positive feedback in this topic. The effort put into the 5@5 has taken the KI Facebook page from a never visited fan page to a daily check page for me. I hope that KI sees it as valuable and keeps it up.
  4. Regarding the 5@5. I too am very happy with the whole concept and how well they are answering questions. The cynic in me wonders if the answers getting better and more free with information had anything to do with the PR Manager helping out at Carrowinds recently
  5. And the good news is that in about 3 weeks - we'll be able to let the kids decide whether they are happy with Planet Snoopy or not. Mine are looking forward to it greatly. They are excited by the new paint on Woodstock Express, the new ride names and logo's, and the pictures on Facebook - and yes, they knew who Snoopy and Charlie Brown were (although I'm not sure from where). I'm willing to bet they'll have fun - although I tend to agree with Railrider, you could put the rides in a parking lot with no theme at all and they'd still have fun.
  6. Great photo and memory Dave. For those of us with kids, we know how special those first coaster rides together can be. It is also great that we can continue to build lasting memories and bonds with our families at amusement parks. I will never forget the night my son and I had the first time he got the purple 48" wristband! Not trying to hi-jack your thread, but when I saw this I felt a need to share my first ride pictures (had to buy the on-ride photo for these events). 2007 - My now 6 1/2 year old - while not hands up for the first ride, he got right back in line and the hands have been up ever since. We are now at 16 different coasters together - which should increase at Dollywood in early April. 2009 - my now 4 year old - trying hard to keep the hands up! We are now at 3 coasters together - FOC being the biggest so far.
  7. Looking forward to seeing you during the lap around the park Sunday mornings again this year Dave!
  8. Nice photo - although I imagine that shows in the theater to the right of the drop bottom may get a little frustrating. Think of trying to sit and watch a show in the KI&MVRR Station.
  9. The van was seen at various events around town including the 4th of July Festival in Mason and a couple of parades I was at. I'd guess it was the same van as the Planet Snoopy one by my recollection.
  10. I can see nothing wrong with this at all. It looks like KI is being a good community partner. I wonder if this is occuring at all parks with new Planet Snoopy's or just KI?
  11. Gator - you are welcome. Based upon the response, I'm hopeful that 2010 information will at least be available and accurate at Guest Relations (unlike the past couple of years when GR info was outdated/inadequate - the binder cover that said "2006 Allergy Information" didn't inspire confidence), but I'll also continue to push for information to be posted on the website as well to simplify our lives.
  12. It might be a work of art, but considering the problems created by poor engineering and/or construction, I wouldn't call it "engineering art".
  13. And yet the same video can be used to show that the amount of trimming on Beast has increased over the years. If you check the skid trim on the first drop (1:48 on first video, 1:29 on the second video) you'll see that the length of the trim is significantly longer in the later. For the umpteenth time, even though the brake run is longer, it was a skid break and needed a long run of friction resistance to slow the train, the new magnetic brakes rob the train of the SAME amount of momentum, only quicker. Cory - Based upon your response, it looks like you failed to actually view the videos and look for what I was talking about - instead you assumed you knew. If you watch, you will see that: - BOTH video's have SKID brakes (while the 2nd video was posted to YouTube in 2006, it is older - before the transition to magnetic brakes) - The earlier video has a shorter skid brake - The later video has a longer skid brake Now, I'll state that I have no idea as to the other parameters that could affect the impact that each of these skid brakes has on the momentum of a train (material and loading come to mind), but it is obvious that between the time the first video was taken and the second video was taken, someone increased the length of trim on the first drop. And yes, I know you are correct that when it was changed to a magnetic trim, it became much shorter - taking out the momentum of the train much quicker.
  14. Actually I would find it somewhat disturbing if people would go back and edit posts from 6 months ago. And as a side note - I'm not trying to "call-out" the people who made these statements. People are absolutely allowed to change their mind (one of the few constants in life is change). I asked the question because I'm interested in understanding the current viewpoint of those that held this viewpoint last fall.

  16. Quoted from the locked SoB thread - just wondering if feelings have changed now that we know SoB will be SBNO for 2010.
  17. I know I wrote this before, but can't find that post (or thread ) - but have to agree with tggrr to a degree here. - While the $30 million spent to date is unfortunate, it is also irrelevant to the path forward. Nothing is bringing that money back. - The real financial question is the cost and benefit of any proposal to make SoB right versus the cost and benefit of an alternate option, which could be anything from leave SoB SBNO to replace it with a different ride to remove it and do nothing with the space. The park obviously believes that make SoB right is a legitimate option and is soliciting proposals to do so. Whether they find an acceptable option that wins in the total cost/benefit equation is to be determined.
  18. DeLorean - thanks for the detailed explanation. I think what you said validates my memory - although it has been proven wrong a couple of times so will ask for some confirmation. Was the brake shed actually used as a block in the past (1980's) allowing a train to leave lift hill 1, when the train ahead was either on it's way too or on lift hill 2? If so, any idea why this capability was changed - I can imagine things like risk of a train not making it to lift 2 from the brake shed block (cold weather mornings come to mind), additional cost/maintenance of having caliper brakes in the brake shed, and slower load times with the individual ratcheting lap bars and seat belts making it obsolete. It just seems like capacity could be higher (shorter ride duration) without the extremely slow lift hill 1.
  19. Based upon everything I've seen the last two days, I was expecting a different answer when I saw that they were answering this question today - something upon the lines of Son of Beast will remain closed for the foreseeable future and will not reopen until we are comfortable with the ride.
  20. Well either I meant to say "Opened late last off-seaon" or I totally lost track of time. I'll let you guess which.
  21. I'm actually excited by this news from Q. It indicates they are not just in the game to make a quick buck (higher sale price on their and units from a raised Apollo offer). They obviously believe that CF has a long term potential to be profitable even with the high debt load. At this point, to me at least, I think Apollo seems more like the make a fast buck company than Q. They came in with a pick up the pieces from the trash heap lowball offer. .
  22. From South on KI Drive, turn Right on Western Row - go under the freeway and less than a mile down on the right hand side. Opened late last season.
  23. Not sure I like the monorails being used as advertising billboards, but I guess that is to be expected in today's world. As for TRON, my funniest memory has to be from college where a guy in my dorm had a motorcycle with a LYTCYCL (or something similar) license plate, leathers and helmet designed to match the movie look, and a full sized video game in his room (although this was eventually moved into the hallway).
  24. Kind of cool - I'm looking forward the 2010 album!
  25. Doubtful, it was rumored that they recently changed the SoB signs to Diamondback for 2010.
