As many of you know, I have been racking up coaster credits pretty fast. The down side of this is that many coasters no longer offer any thrills. Yesterday I rode TTD at CP and it barely raised my heart rate. Fun sure, thrilling not so much anymore. Diamondback is another great ride, but the thrill is gone. So far, the only coaster that comes to mind that delivers on every lap is Voyage. What coasters still give you that Whoa!!! feeling? Maybe I need to take up Skydiving.

It is possible that the ride is the same and that I have become desensitized to it. That plus riding a bit defensively to avoid getting thrown from side to side.

SFoG Questions
DaveStroem replied to dragsterfan420's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
For us, I like the GFP. Since I am driving down from Columbus to go to the park, the extra $$$ to guarantee that we will get a ton of re-rides is a great value. Now if the park is empty, that is a different story. When we went to SFGAm the locals told us that Sundays had been pretty light. When we got there we decided to get the GFP and were glad we did. Most coasters had over a 1 hour wait. With the GFP we got 3 rides on Superman with only a 5 minute wait while the sign said 2 hours. -
I was on it yesterday. Yes, I would say it was a little tamer. Still a great ride. It was down last night for at least 1 1/2 hours till I gave up. I then walked to Magnum and it too was down so I got in the car & drove home.

Coaster Club Memberships
DaveStroem replied to KIfan1980's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I joined CoasterBuzz for CoasterMania. Since then my membership has been paid in full by the discounts to Holiday World & Indiana beach. With CoasterBuzz though these & no ads on their site are the only real benefits of being a paid member vs just visiting the site for free. Again though it paid for itself in savings. If you were to join now, You could get in on BooBuzz at CP on Sept 19 with ERT on Maverick and a tour on Millennium Island and Fall Affair at Holiday World Sept 26th. Joining now would also cover you for next years spring events like RWW, Coaster Mania & Holiwood Nights. -
SFoG Questions
DaveStroem replied to dragsterfan420's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I really don't have any answers to your questions as I have not been there yet. One thing to look out for is to make sure they are open. When we were planning our trip, I was suprised that they go to weekends only starting on the 10th of August. If they are only going for 1 day and want to make the most of it, tell them to consider a flash pass or better yet a gold flash pass. We will be spending the $$$ for it when we go enless the park is empty. I just checked their calendar and those dates are open but with early closing hours (8:00 PM). -
Yes, I think it is a great family park. If you are a member of a coaster club with a membership card, you can get your tickets for $26.95. The area hotels also have discount tickets in the $30 neighborhood.

Nice TR. I was at CP today with similar very crowded conditions. I guess I just got spoiled by our May-June trips.

Thanks for the PRT. we will be heading there Labor Day weekend. Doing this and Freestyle Music Park in Myrtle Beach.

Jo, it was closed with thick cobwebs all over the cars. Didn't look like it had been open this season.

I was at CP today and got one of those little waters up front. Back in Frontier land I got a larger sized one. What I find interesting is that they are now using a plastic cup for the free waters instead of the paper ones. I would think that the paper ones would be cheaper and better for the environment. Also giving 1 larger water verses several smaller ones would be more environmentally friendly.

We didn't get to stay late enough for a NR on Voyage. We will be going to Holiwood Nights for sure in 2010.

I have never been to a Haunt, so this year will be interesting. I have no idea what to expect. I am assuming that the Haunts are only on Friday & Saturday evenings, is this correct? Details would be appreciated.

I have another epic ride to add. Our 100th different coaster of this year and our 1st ride on the Voyage. This is the only coaster I have been on that left me breathless. Each of the 5 laps I did were epic. But the first ride in the front seat was by far the best.

Your definition works for me. But since Ka is down, wouldn't that go to TTD instead -
Disney World raising ticket prices
DaveStroem replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Disney is not about going for a single day. It is about a vacation long trip. We are going to the mouse house for 5 days the total for the 4 of us will be just under $1400 including hotel, tickets & the dining plan. The meals that we will be enjoying will include Filet Mingon at Le Cellier & other fine dining that is just not available at any other park I have been too. Since my trip is booked at the old prices, I wonder if my Birthday gift card will be for the new or old amount. -

There is quite a bit of space on Millennium Island. Add that to SRF & CCMR you would have plenty of room. Another thought would be an Intamin AquaTrax. I think of other parks that have creatively squeezed so excellent coasters in when they seemed to have not space. Kennywood & Indiana Beach both come to mind. -

new coaster at the point?
DaveStroem replied to Ironite's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
If they build a 500 footer, I doubt it will be a launch. It is seeming likely that the new giga at KD will be a vertical lift. If they can make that work for 300' + ft, I doubt it would be that much harder to engineer to 500'. I personally see them taking out SRF and maybe even CCMR. What ever they do, 2010 is going to be a great year. KD, CarW, HW, CP & KW all with speculation of new major rides. -

It isn't the height that caused the problem with TTD, it is the launch. While a full circuit coaster of would have it's own issues, I can see it being done and if anyone is going to do it, CP will be the one. -

One of the responses on the Facebook page is calling for a 505 ft Intamin. 200' = Hyper 300' = Giga 400' = Strata 500' = ????? -
I have not been to it since it was Days of Thunder. Now that it is Sponge Bob, I will not get with in 100 ft of it. If my girls are watching SB and I come into the room, they know to change the channel I loath it so much.

Holiday World New Coaster?
DaveStroem replied to DaveStroem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They did not say that it would or would not be the 2nd largest ride investment in park history. They just left it at 2nd largest park project. That could mean longer then Legend but shorter the Voyage. Or could mean cost, height, or what ever else they want it to mean.
