  1. I also am thinking it will be back by PP. that area is kind of void right now. In 2 weeks we will all find out.
  2. It seems that in a couple of weeks Holiday World is going to be making a major announcement. They say it will be the 2nd largest ride project in park history. Could HW be getting some Steel? Maybe from Intamin since Pilgrims Plunge came from them. I know that I will be heading there next year no matter what they build.
  3. These rumors go back to the beginning of the season. They cleared a large area on Millenium Island and I had also heard that they were going to drop SRF which to me would be no loss. There is also talk that a lot of early steel is reaching the end of its life cycle. Something like CCMR is getting up there in years. If you took those 3 areas, you could put in a good sized coaster. While this would keep CP at 17, I don't think that 2 companies with as much debt load as SF & CF should be playing that game. For more fun Holiday World is making an announcement on Thursday, August 13, at 11 am CDT. They say it is going to be the 2nd largest ride project in park history. Also the ACE folks put out that Kennywood had a big announcement that was to be made at KennyKon. From reports, they jumped the gun and their big announcement was that they were going to have a big announcement. With the possible 3 above & the new rides at KD & CarW. 2010 should be a good year.
  4. Nice TR Jackson. If you shot one of the TTD trains before the shot of Jessie, you would have had me in the pic. BTW, in your first line you have the dates at July 5 & 6 instead of June.
  5. What I am trying to get across is if you put DB in 1972, you would have far more afraid to ride it then those that would IMO.
  6. You must only goto KI then lol The best? Well that's pushing it First off, he said "One of the best". I have been on 120 different coasters this year. DB is one of the best I have ridden. As for B&M coasters that I have ridden it is the best. I have not been on Manta or Prowler so I won't comment on those. Last year Behemoth finished 3rd behind Ravine Flyer II (great ride BTW) and Boardwalk Bullet.
  7. We have gotten good use out of our Platinum Passes. KI-5, CP-4, CanW-2, KD-1 and we still have trips planned for DP & CarW. The real questions is what do your folks think? Are they ready for a year of the Coaster? It would be a total waste to get the PP is you only end up going ot KI.
  8. Chances are that the brochure that you got was printed before the season started. Maybe even before the trains arrived. Most people wouldn't catch it.
  9. Hmm... thats cool. My mom rode Bavarian Beetle in the late '70's with her sister (My aunt). She said they were so scared that they crawled out of their seats and layed on the floor for most of the ride. I'm not sure if this is true, or if it was even possible, but it was kind of funny, knowing that the ride was only like 25 feet tall. But very nice report! I must go there sometime! All those rides look very fun! What people expect now compared to then is quite different. I have heard stories of Racer making people ill on a regular basis. Now it is considered to be a beginner ride to take young up and coming coaster kids on.
  10. We should consider ourselves lucky to have the suspended boomerang instead of the typical sit down version. Having been on a number of these shuttle coasters Invertigo is 100 times more fun then the others.
  11. WOW this is one heck of a TR. Are you still alive? Did Diamondback eat your iPhone?
  12. No, I didn't know that. I think I rode BB way back in the day, but honestly I don't remember. We made a yearly trip to KI from when the park opened in 72.
  13. I have to agree about cargo shorts or as we call them Coaster Shorts. Try to get some with zippered pockets. I am sorry that you lost your keys.
  14. Nope. paratroopers don't do it for me. That and the fact that the flying bobs made me feel a bit green. !0 minutes is to long of a ride cycle.
  15. Rustbelt, I don't see Raptor on your inverted list. Have you ridden it, or didn't rate it as high? To me, it was much better then Alpengeist. Which Bizzaro are you referring to as your #1 SFNE?
  16. I bought 2 one for me and one for my hubby I also bought 10 of the Mid Summer Scream buttons for the Diamondback crew!! Gonna be fun! But will they have Bling? Unfortuantly we will not be able to hit this one. Why are most all coaster events on Saturdays. I can't take off 2 in a row and the weekend before is our big 5 park 4 day trip to PA/NJ
  17. Glad you had fun at MA, we were thinking of heading there as part of our Chicago trip but opted for Indiana Beach instead. From the reports that I have seen, I don't think this park is worthy of a long drive (6 hours). So I doubt we will be getting there this year.
  18. Glad you had fun. When we were there on a Saturday, the crowds were a little heaver, we had to wait for 2-3 trains on Griffon.
  19. I agree with the Hold on to your Buns slogan. It was also plastered everwhere at SFKK. I don't know what the deal is with the Space Shuttle there. If it is new or being renovated. The area was open, but nothing to do there and it is not on the park map.
  20. After a full day at SFGAm on Sunday we headed out Monday morning to Indiana Beach in Monticello, In. Luckily they don't open till later as we spent the first 1 1/2 just getting out of Chicago. Indiana Beach is on Lake Shafer that was formed when they built a dam on the Tippecanoe river. The park itself is on a peninsula that extends into the lake. Due to this, the park is very tight with many things built on top of each other or even over the water. We parked in the South lot and after spending 10 minutes waiting in line we were able to purchase our wristbands. I showed my CoasterBuzz membership card and got 50% off the POP price of $29.95. They also have other offers on their website http://www.indianabeach.com/files/1906-PR-INBC_Gas.pdf When you enter from the South Lot, you head down the hill for a view of Coaster Nirvana. The first coaster that we came to was The Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain. This is a strange little wood coaster that has the tightest curves I have ever seen on a woodie. The line for this was only about a dozen people but still took forever. They only run one train of 2 cars that hold 4 people each facing each other. After you get in the train, you go up an elevator before you ride down this wooden "mouse". Next up was Tig'er. This was an odd little coaster that looks kind of like a big kiddie coaster but packs a much bigger punch. Again this was a slow loader with only 2 cars that held between 2 & 4 people each. This park could use a good graphic designer to update the signage. This was the only thing we found with the name of the ride on it. After Tig'er we walked across the way to Cornball Express. This Coaster is on a lot of folks top ten woodies list & I understand why. So after climbing the 3 flights of stairs to the load station we were off for some air filled goodness. Since we were on this side of the park we headed over to the Air Crows. This is IB's name for the flying eagles. The one here has to be the coolest location for an eagles ride. It is built on a platform over the lake. When you get going you are completely over the water. A short distance away was the entrance to the Hoosier Hurricane. After we climbed the stairs to get to the load station in the sky we got on the next train. This is the coaster that runs from one end of the peninsula to the other. The bottom of the first hill is actually over the water. What a cool view. This ride had moments of air and was quite bit smoother then I expected it to be. Next up was Steel Hawg. IB claims this to be Indiana's first major steel coaster. While the ride was interesting, I did not find it trilling in anyway. We decided to get our last credit in before doing more flats & rerides. So on to Galaxi. If you didn't look for this one you could have easily missed it since it is surrounded by water slides. This reminded me of wildcat at CP with it's 2 car trains. It was time for a break so we boarded the Shafer Queen for a short spin around the lake. After we got off boat I was getting a bit of an upset stomach from the flying bobs (10 minute cycle with half of it going backwards) followed by the boat ride so we headed back to the car so I could get some decent water and a break from the noise of the park. When we got back we got on the Giant Wheel which gave a decent aerial view of the park. Unlike most Ferris wheels this one moved quickly and before you knew it your ride was over. Since I was now feeling fine we took a spin on the water swings. Like the Air Crows, this was built over the lake for a very different feel. We even got my wife to ride this while I shot photos of them and then we switched. After this we walked to the other end of the park re-riding as we went to get to the Double Shot as my non-riding wife said she would do this one. There was a water show starting in a few minutes so my wife and Katy went to see this and Elizabeth & I went to Dr. Frankenstein's Haunted Castle. This was voted as the #1 walk through of 2008 earning it a Golden Ticket award. The attraction was not included in the POP price so we shelled out the $4 per person. It was a lot of fun and quite long. I loved the room of doors. It actually made Elizabeth scream several times. We had a great day at this quaint little park in the middle of nowhere. While both the major coasters were only running 1 train, we never had to wait for more then that train to make its lap. Ride count Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain 1 Tig'er 1 Cornball Express 5 Hoosier Hurricane 4 Steel Hawg 2 Galaxi 1 Air Crows 2 Water Swing 1 Giant Wheel 1 Flying Bobs 1 Tilt-a-whirl 1 Double Shot 1 Shafer Queen 1
  21. Here are the photos. Ragin' Cajun was a typical spinning mouse. Some B&M goodness
  22. We just got back from SFGAm and our first B&M flyers. Speaking only of the restraints, I much prefer the B&M style. On FH or Batwing at SFA when they lower you down the blood rushes to your head till your on the lift. While being dangled in the brake run is not the greatest felling, it did not give me a headache. As to the ride itself S:UF had an incredible positive G-force loop that made you feel like you were a man of steel. I would have to go with B&M over Vekoma when it comes to the flyers that I have ridden.
