  1. I know what you mean. Since getting my camera, I'm finding more and more that I'd rather walk and take pictures each visit to the park than ride any rides at all.
  2. I believe the landscape of DB is absolutely beautiful. And to IceCream329, I felt that way when I worked KI in 2005. It was "THE" greatest time of my life. I enjoyed coming to work and staying for a doubleshift anyday of the week when asked. Many times, I even volunteered. "And cause I was a gazillionaire, and I liked doin it so much, I cut that grass for free." ~Forrest Gump, 1994
  3. Got it! It was posted while I was working on mine. Thanks. There's so much to "shoot" at KI on the park grounds than breaking rules of engagement!
  4. You know Interpreter....I'm sure if "urakan" marked this topic or when they come back to read the post again, that they will get the point that they did something wrong by violating park rules and hopefully they will regrettably learn from their mistakes. Human nature right? I was only "implementing" the fact that what they did was wrong hopefully because of the ingnorance of the rules. I didn't want them to feel the harsh lashing but let them know politely that they can't take photography on rides. Period. They're are many MANY people who violate this rule "INTENTIONALLY". And I'm only saying, that let's only give this person a chance to learn and not do it again. That's all. Because it does violate the rules...it should be deleted. Sorry urakan. How and Who does that? Geesh!
  5. Nice picture Urakan! I love the way you framed your pony. Of course, this picture was take before the carousel ride started.... "Right"?!!
  6. The season is just beginning...I am sure that more and more people will show off a photo or two! As for me, I have not made it to the park yet this year...but once I do hopefully I will have something to contribute. I'm heading to KI in a few days and I'll have plenty of pictures for you. I can't decide if I want to take my good camera to get great high quality shots or my smaller, cheaper spare. Hello everyone and Lakot88, I just have a basic 12mp GE camera my family got me for Christmas at Kmart. I just play around with the settings until I get what I want. I desire taking a High Dollar camera in, but as I've posted before about that, it's either take it in and keep it with you all day , or snap a few in the morn, noon and night with trips to the car inbetween. I had a Nikon, and while covering "The Arnold Classic" in Columbus, Oh in 2002 or '03, here came Arnold down out of an exibhition with his 20 some bodyguards, and another photographer got ancy and jumped out of line to get a shot in front of him, the bodyguard jumped on him, pulled him down to the ground and it happened on top of me, and I lost the camera out of my hand to whiplash from the incident as me and my camerea both hit the ground. It shattered the mirror inside it and I never had it fixed. So, I go the cheaper route today. And, no, I didn't get the photo of that. So, overall...I can't wait to see everybody's pics. I don't know what you think, but I tried to make it fun and to ask for one post a week, because people can get a little crazy and out of hand posting their entire roll. Ever had to sit through someones pictures and they keep going and going and...So, do you think that maybe two or three would work? Again, I would just like to see what everybody's tastes are.
  7. is looking forward to another day of photography at "My Favorite Theme Park"!

  8. Thank you standbyme. I love KI and taking pictures. This was only my 2nd trip to the park this year. Rain and Work has kept me away otherwise. I appreicated your compliment. It meant a lot. I would love to see more activity on this posting including any photos "YOU" have taken this year. I just wanted a place to see different aspects of the park from other peoples point of views. Please tell others to join in on the fun...including you! Thank you friend.
  9. Enjoy this pick of DB around 10:15pm on Saturday 05/22/2010.
  10. You know...I would bring my laptop to the park. I have teenage children who are able to enjoy the park responsibly alone now and I don't always feel like hiking around or having to ride everything all the time. Just this past Saturday, my Wife and I allowed our Son to roam the park with his HS band friends and I truly enjoyed just sitting, walking and watching people and the show at International street. My wife has difficulty walking on somedays and it takes all she has to make it from the parking lot to the front gate and as it's not fair for everyone to suffer and not come to KI, so, she comes and I sit with her here and there for an hour and we move to somewhere different to change the scene. I rode the DB at close and was VERY satisfied with my day. I also am in school again and would consider bringing the kids to KI during the Summer to study and have access to the Wi-Fi would help me spend more time in my studies while everyone enjoys the park.
  11. Alright Everybody...This Weekend Ki Opens Up Full Swing! Plenty Of Opportunities To Get Those Pictures In! Don't Forget You Camera and Extra Batteries! Have Fun & Be Creative!!!
  12. Your picture of DB and the Crypt...WOW !!! What a giant tangled mess of steel. I will definately check that part of Rivertown out as soon as the rain checks out of Ohio . Loved the picture! Thank you for posting.
  13. I was thinking the same along the lines of a really big game of genga, pick-up-sticks or build Snoopy a gigantic doghouse!!!!
  14. N I C E P I C ! I enjoy Delirium the most. Smoothest Ride In The Park! Thanks for Posting!
  15. Let's Have Some Fun This Year and Post Your KI 2010 Family Memories and Park Photos For Others To See Here! EACH WEEK, POST YOUR MOST FAVORITE PICTURE TAKEN IN THE PARK AND LET OTHERS SEE HOW DIFFERENTLY WE SEE KI! I received a camera for Christmas just for use at Kings Island and I'm so proud of it and my Opening Day Pictures...I just had to share! Fun Rules: 1) Must pick "one" and only "one" picture per week to post! Just One! 2) It had to have been taken with-in that same week to post: Mon-Sun...No cheating! LOL! 3) It has to be Grandma Approved!!! Nothing Obscene Please!!! 4) It had to have been taken somewhere with-in the perimeter of the park. The Road Connecting Out the Front Gates & Forward 5) It can be People or Scenery or Both, But MUST be atleast 75% of Something about KI in the background 6) Have Fun & Give It A Title, Description, Time and What Day It Was Taken...(only if you want to) & FINALLY....Let's Show Our Pride, Talent and How Much We Love Our Theme Park Right Here In OHIO....OUR Kings Island!!!!! I'll go first: Taken after my daughter and I closed The Beast on our way out around 10:40pm on International Street Opening Day April 17th, 2010. I used my Photoshop and took the original photo and gave it a "Twist". I added just a little color wash and this was my final result. If you still have your "BOO GLASSES ", get them and you'll get an AWESOME 3-D Effect. Enjoy!
  16. Can't KI put together a Yearbook Video of some sort that covers the past thirty years? I'm always interested in the history of amusement parks. Shoot, there is one on PBS that plays every Summer about the "old" parks from California to New York. I believe we have enough history and support that one should be made for us! Who doesn't like watching those shows on cable tv about them? I even watch where they find the finest made hot dogs in America...so there has to be more interest than just mine.
  17. My daughter and I arrived at 4:00pm today. Weather was great with a hoodie and pants until 8 or so. Then Brrrrrr! Ride Count: Boo Blasters = 1 Diamondback = 1 BONUS: was assigned 1st car-1st seat and it was my first ride on Diamondback EVER! AWESOME! Delirium = 1 Monster = 1 FOF = 1 The Beast = 1 Six rides in Six hours! Plus time for a Pretzel and Cheese...Yummm!
  18. Just for safety. I talked to a ride op about this standing in line last year being the next person to go then they closed down the ride. He said he thought it was kind of pointless because where they set off the fireworks is pretty far from The Beast. After we had our "late" ride on The Beast and on our way out of the park at the Rivertown restrooms I recognized my friend, a previous co-worker and Park Policeman from when I worked in '05, and I stated to him that this has got to be a bigger headache waiting to put The Beast to bed because of the delay of the fireworks and waiting for the last riders. He stated that it does take a bit longer as the season progresses into Summer. This was always how our family ends our day was with Fireworks on The Beast at closing. And, what was with the lights on in the Helex? Bad...Bad Idea!!!
  19. I bought the glasses for myself and my daughter who's 15. We both thought it was distracting . We truly enjoyed the special effects with the glasses, but then it made it more difficult to concentrate and shoot the little blue lights. We scored like a 300. I can't begin to tell you one scene from another that I can remotely remember except for the ending. I don't think I can say I remember seeing boocifer. Great Job On The New Ride. It was FUN! I'll have to do it again next weekend.
  20. What was with The Beast shutting down at 9:45pm for fireworks and not opening up until the all clear after the show. It wasn't until 10:20pm that the trains started back up. Also, have the fireworks been moved to a new location? I will state that it did build up the suspense at The Beast House. The Beast Crew kept us entertained as always. Great Job! The ride was AWESOME! Love the smell of the first tunnel! Memories or great Memories!!!
  21. I'm on my way down with my daughter...how was the weather? ALL My daughter wants to ride is FOF. So, I might edge you on that one. LOL .
  22. I know multiple times last year and the year before, there was a large Full Throttle truck outside the front gates giving cans away for free. I just thought of this...Having worked Security when it was PKI, giving cans of energy drinks (Full Throttle Being My Personal Favorite) is the crummiest idear yet! Four options there: 1) You run it back to your car so that it can save for later, so it gets all nice and warm plus, so you can walk and extra mile for the day 2) You give it up at the Metel Detectors because no outside drinks are allowed in the park and the Security Team Can Then Parties Like A Rock Star behind the scenes with the confiscated Drinks during shift rotation...(JUST KIDDING) They get tossed but not a bad idea though LOL! 3) You suck down the 20oz can of Energy Juice Immediately and be totally hyped for the next 6hrs before entering the gates 4) -or- Just don't take one and lose out I'll take option number 3, but still a bad idea!
