more banked turns. You would lose the lateral Gs but you could hold more speed into the turns and would require less braking...

yea Hank, I misread your original post. I agree with you if the money is not there, then the park is not an option. However, when I was trying to rub 2 pennies together to make a dime, I scored park tix from giving blood. Wife and I made a vacation out of that. Probably was not good to go the next day to the park, being down a pint of blood... Good luck hank, Ill say a prayer for you and yours. -

Now I may push a few buttons here Hank, and i do not mean to at all. But I cant afford to do it either. So I will make plans to pick a day I hope will not be too busy. I will make plans to attend all day and if I dont get on everything, I dont get on em. My wife and I had a similar situation when we went to universal. We had made plans to hit certain rides first to make sure we rode em. After that, if we didnt get to ride it, we lost out. We ended up getting 2 free fast passes from the hotel and we ended up going on 2 very dead days (one for each park). Growing up we didnt have fast passes. We were happy. -
In order, SOB. It was a world record holder and brought the park national attention. Then the accidents and it brough the park national attention. Then it gets torn down and it will impact the future of the park opening up an area for future expansion. Beast because it took the park to a level that it previously was not at. It has actively remained a top coaster and still brings people to the park many years after it was built. Racer. Started the modern coaster boom...

Geauga Lake Thoughts

Shouka was never transferred out till CF took over. SeaWorld stopped transferring killer whales and dolphins to other parks for the winter during the 90s (there used to be pictures online of the killer whales practicing for next season shows during the offseason with lots of snow on the ground) My dumb question here... Can killer whales and dolphins survive in the cold lake of Northern Ohio? -
Which I figure would be a very hard task.

I am confused at why we think the dry part of the park is going to open up at the same time. Based on previous statements and pictures done by our own Gordon Bombay... The dry side looks like its about 2 years from reopening. The wet side will/may be the only part opening immediately...

Ok fair point. But would you travel across the country to hang out at the beach? Would you travel hours for just a water park?

I have no dog in this fight. As I never went and probably never will. But of the many people who do want to go, will they make the trip for a water park? Will they make a trip for a park with rides not running or operating. Ill be honest. If the park wants to attract me, an average park goer, what will they have to attract me from Cincy, just mins north of the KY boarder. Whats going to draw people from Louisville/Lexington/Etc to the park. When it opens/if it opens it sounds like it will be in phases. Phases does not mean many people to me. Best case scenario, from pictures and reading about the current state of the park, the water side opens first. Does Coney Island draw people from across the country of a dip in the wave pool? What will bring people to KK?

I wouldnt say people are crazy for thinking CF bought it to end competition, because there is a reason why a company would buy a park. Did they see an opportunity to purchase a park with rides and move those rides? Yes probably. Was the intent to close it completely? I wouldnt count that out as it might have been in been part of the plans, becase as you said no one will really know, because those who do know wont speak. I think you may be right, but I do not see it coming back for years. 15 or more. If the land is sold to a person who wants to invest millions of millions of dollars to build a local park. The place is a mess on the park side. I do not mean that in a disrespectful way. I honestly think that your point 5 was, IMHO, the most important one. Having lived in Kent, for a year, I made a few trips to the Geauga Lake area to just look at the old grounds many times. The drive from Kent to GL was a longer drive due to the roads. I felt like the trip to Cleveland was quicker than going to GL. The roads to that area are not easy to navigate on a busy day. http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthott/with/4563639687/#photo_4563639687 Back in 2010, I took my point and click camera with me and took some quick photos from around the park. The pictures are taken as I drove around that 700 acre park. I didnt break any laws as all of the pics are taken from outside of the gate or on the road. -
I know which row I'll be in this summer! And thank you CP for thinking of us larger folks... It's bad enough that I can't ride Millie, TTD, WT and Raptor (and CCMR, but I don't really miss that one). Everything else I fit on, so I know I'll at least have a chance with GK! Man I rode Raptor a few years back and I was good till we sat on the brake run. The restraint came down a bit more and I could not get a breath in. I think its because of my larger frame that I had difficulty catching my breath.

My wife's boss watched him give a speech. Made the comment about how companies can be like hippos. Big and powerful but with tiny ears. Meaning that you are not listneing to your employees or customers. He said the goal is that you need to listen to your employees and customers.- 36 replies

Could it not be argued that the typical guest either wont notice any of the changes (just the people who come into the park to ride the rides and leave) or that the typical guest experience is now being targeted for the people who only come to the park one or two times per year? Regional destination versus regional baby sitter? I honestly dont know. These are more legit questions than questions made to make a point...

At 27 I still like to ride with my mom. She got me to ride coasters so there is a bit of fun involved with that. My wife is not a big coaster fan

Dept 47, you my friend have never been in a class with a medical book that is more than 1 year old. I was in a communication/nuerological disorders class. In the middle of the class the prof stated, 'Dont read chapter 8, all of that info is now not correct." It happens, books are updated yearly to reflect the newest greatest research and info.

excuse me for bringing in logic here for just a moment. If the queue line is in the way, then the queue line could be shortened, not a big deal. The queue line is what 5 feet wide? Seperated by a grassy median? If the park wanted to expand that way, dont think the queue line would be in the way.... plus a non filled queue line is not a good reason to destroy an entire ride....

My wife and I went down to Universal last summer/fall. We had stayed at a resort park and bought our meal plan tickets. We were suppose to get our souvenoir cups from AAA in Cincy. We never did and AAA told us to get them from the park when we arrived. The park told us that AAA was wrong but they were going to take care of everything. To make up for the "lost time" (going to a restuarant, then having to find customer service and wait in line - a total of 20 minutes?) the wonderful woman in Customer Service then walked with us to a restuarant, got us our cup and bands, then walked through the park with us all the way back to the simpson ride and got us to the front of the line (we had fast passes so no other ride really needed to be jumped ahead). She also gave us a bunch of info about the park and answered every question, even if she probably shouldnt have. I will never tell those secrets, but she took care of us and we didnt complain. Moral of the story, sometimes you get more flies with honey than vinegar.

Well you can thank the change in education for all of that. As budgets get cut and funding is linked more and more to test scores, things that are not deemed important to fixing the test scores are cut. Sports/Shop/Art/Field Trips. Right wrong or indifferent, when you school has test scores that are failing, they lose money. Money gets taken away and something needs to get cut.
