  1. I wouldnt say people are crazy for thinking CF bought it to end competition, because there is a reason why a company would buy a park. Did they see an opportunity to purchase a park with rides and move those rides? Yes probably. Was the intent to close it completely? I wouldnt count that out as it might have been in been part of the plans, becase as you said no one will really know, because those who do know wont speak. I think you may be right, but I do not see it coming back for years. 15 or more. If the land is sold to a person who wants to invest millions of millions of dollars to build a local park. The place is a mess on the park side. I do not mean that in a disrespectful way. I honestly think that your point 5 was, IMHO, the most important one. Having lived in Kent, for a year, I made a few trips to the Geauga Lake area to just look at the old grounds many times. The drive from Kent to GL was a longer drive due to the roads. I felt like the trip to Cleveland was quicker than going to GL. The roads to that area are not easy to navigate on a busy day. http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthott/with/4563639687/#photo_4563639687 Back in 2010, I took my point and click camera with me and took some quick photos from around the park. The pictures are taken as I drove around that 700 acre park. I didnt break any laws as all of the pics are taken from outside of the gate or on the road.
  2. I know which row I'll be in this summer! And thank you CP for thinking of us larger folks... It's bad enough that I can't ride Millie, TTD, WT and Raptor (and CCMR, but I don't really miss that one). Everything else I fit on, so I know I'll at least have a chance with GK! Man I rode Raptor a few years back and I was good till we sat on the brake run. The restraint came down a bit more and I could not get a breath in. I think its because of my larger frame that I had difficulty catching my breath.
  3. My wife's boss watched him give a speech. Made the comment about how companies can be like hippos. Big and powerful but with tiny ears. Meaning that you are not listneing to your employees or customers. He said the goal is that you need to listen to your employees and customers.
  4. Could it not be argued that the typical guest either wont notice any of the changes (just the people who come into the park to ride the rides and leave) or that the typical guest experience is now being targeted for the people who only come to the park one or two times per year? Regional destination versus regional baby sitter? I honestly dont know. These are more legit questions than questions made to make a point...
  5. In response ^^^ I may be mistaken, but are there not rules and guidelines in place that actually say to keep both hands in the car and to hold on to the bar for safety during the ride? So techincally when you have your hands up you are breaking a guideline
  6. At 27 I still like to ride with my mom. She got me to ride coasters so there is a bit of fun involved with that. My wife is not a big coaster fan
  7. Im not a fan of tax at the bowling alley....
  8. eh its worded weird but if your are asking "is this your favorite last-looping arrow" means there is more than one last remaining....
  9. Dept 47, you my friend have never been in a class with a medical book that is more than 1 year old. I was in a communication/nuerological disorders class. In the middle of the class the prof stated, 'Dont read chapter 8, all of that info is now not correct." It happens, books are updated yearly to reflect the newest greatest research and info.
  10. excuse me for bringing in logic here for just a moment. If the queue line is in the way, then the queue line could be shortened, not a big deal. The queue line is what 5 feet wide? Seperated by a grassy median? If the park wanted to expand that way, dont think the queue line would be in the way.... plus a non filled queue line is not a good reason to destroy an entire ride....
  11. My wife and I went down to Universal last summer/fall. We had stayed at a resort park and bought our meal plan tickets. We were suppose to get our souvenoir cups from AAA in Cincy. We never did and AAA told us to get them from the park when we arrived. The park told us that AAA was wrong but they were going to take care of everything. To make up for the "lost time" (going to a restuarant, then having to find customer service and wait in line - a total of 20 minutes?) the wonderful woman in Customer Service then walked with us to a restuarant, got us our cup and bands, then walked through the park with us all the way back to the simpson ride and got us to the front of the line (we had fast passes so no other ride really needed to be jumped ahead). She also gave us a bunch of info about the park and answered every question, even if she probably shouldnt have. I will never tell those secrets, but she took care of us and we didnt complain. Moral of the story, sometimes you get more flies with honey than vinegar.
  12. Well you can thank the change in education for all of that. As budgets get cut and funding is linked more and more to test scores, things that are not deemed important to fixing the test scores are cut. Sports/Shop/Art/Field Trips. Right wrong or indifferent, when you school has test scores that are failing, they lose money. Money gets taken away and something needs to get cut.
  13. If only Scooby and the gang were still here... now we are stuck with a boy who cant kick a football and a dog who fights German Warplanes....
  14. My goodness. You could never do something like that now. That is opening yourself up to too many potential lawsuits. If the teacher did do it recently, and the parents ever find out, its his licensure for sure...
  15. once we had a school trip take use to Rumpkee.. No joke... rode around in a school bus and looked at dump.... however I did learn about methane release...
  16. Could the Crypt removal be that as the Crypt out lived its usefulness they saw an opportunity for a haunt attraction and use of the structure without the ride. However, without insider info, anything can be made to fit into anyones logic.....
  17. Low ridership, cost of fuel wouldn't justify it's removal? Since we all are predicting....I predict at least one more removal of something...whether it be building or attraction. I predict the area to be a little bit more open. I personally cannot wait to see what AZ will look like this year. But low ridership and the cost of fuel wouldnt justify plowing the land unless there was a plan. I believe what you say, that it was in the works, maybe, to close the ride, but no real reason to plow the land unless there was a plan. The plan could be 2013/2014/or beyond but things are not torn out when there is no reason. Look at SOB, sat idle for years before being returned to the land.
  18. http://www.thebeachwaterpark.com/ website is up and running... it also has a theme song... come to the beach...
  19. When ever I'm at the park, I always go to Charlie Brown. He always tells me the most accurate information... I prefer the: hes a clown, that charlie brown, hes going to get caught, just you wait and see....
  20. CF does need to take part in the blame, but how much is all a matter of perspective. Sea World was a draw for the area. Without it, the whole area is just another park.
  21. 20 years.... and now I know how my parents feel... I was 7 when this ride opened? I remember being so afraid of the ride that the first time my family rode it, I stepped out and hung out in the little kid waiting area....
  22. the video makes me miss hearing the movie themes when walking into the park...
  23. When does the park start to prepare for the next season and how much time does it take to get the park ready and open? How many people are on these crews? Is it one of those things where there is plenty of time, or do you ever wonder if you will be ready on time? Also, whats your favorite food item, past or current in the park?
  24. Looks similar to the Universal City Scape in Florida...
  25. Ah, Surf Cincinnati's go cart track. That place was sweet! I still remember picking up all of the "speed" by coming over the bridge and going down in the turn... it was awesome!
