Ha yeah same in my family. always wondered what the real name was.

Do you happen to know what it was called and please enlighten the rest of us That bugs me to. If the gate is closed it just looks smoother. However without the animatronics, it is sort of a boring ride view. Not much to look at. I'm confused...what is the gate? Not my photo, linked from google, which I think linked from this website.... so its sort of like a giant loop....

I hate how they always leave the gate open too! My 4 year old was confused calling the town fake the first time she rode.Little things like that bother me,keep the dang gate closed! That bugs me to. If the gate is closed it just looks smoother. However without the animatronics, it is sort of a boring ride view. Not much to look at. I would disagree. While I do hate how far back the Picnic Grove is, it is sort of nice to be so far away from the noise of the park and enjoy and sit back there. Wasnt there a ride on the way back to the Picnic Grove or close to it where people could either be in a tank or shoot at the tank?

Well may I ask why it would be highly unlikely? If you talk about rides at Universal well I dont see why you wouldnt see similar rides at a CF park. If not for the ability to Universal and Disney to have rides with movie/tv show themes, the rides could be similar. The old back to the future ride / simpsons ride is just a motion sensor ride right? Just a well done ride. just playing devils advocate.

Underpowered cars going in a small circle cannot and should not be compared to world class rides. TA is closer to the Great Pumpkin Coaster than DB or Beast That's why I said "what if"... I think I misread your sentence. I thought you meant that as "what if people look at Thunder alley like we look at DB" versus what if Thunder Alley were great... My B. Respectfully forgive...

TA is closer to the Great Pumpkin Coaster than DB or Beast There are some true world class Go Carts or Karts in Gatlinburg. Multiple layers, layouts etc. Even Surf Cincinnati had a very nice Go-Kart track.

I dont have a specific memory for SOB but more a combo of all the memories. The sheer fear I had before I rode it the first time. Squeezing into the seats on both the old and new trains. Hating getting the picture taken before the first hill. Pushing the lap bar down because my mind said "Hey, you dont want to fly out." Cursing the ride because I couldnt move my feet, had no wiggle room at all, being crushed into those seats. Talking to a friend/yelling at a friend on the lift hill because it was so so loud. Seeing the park come into view as we crested the hill. The sudden dread of the drop. The feeling of riding in the very front seat as you scream to the ground on that massive first hill. Getting beat up and wondering if the train would jump off the track in the first helix. Then rollin up the hill and down into the beautiful loop, it was smooth as glass. Going into another Helix and getting beat up. The entire time hating how my feet were stuck and I barely fit. The ride ending and sitting on the brake run at the end, still cursing the ride for how much it hurt and how tight it felt. Getting off and thinking I am never riding it again, till the next time you go on. Beautiful moments with parts of evil. Reminds me of my first love. Sometimes memories are best in the mind because they can be what we want them to be, which may be very different than reality.

"Breaking records again"? They added a rocket to it...how is that Planet Snoopy related? Then the countdown started awhile back...which gave a lot more time for people to get excited. Also, I edited my post before for Terpy. Nevermind. You know what I mean. -

I have been following this but not greatly. Did they fill in parts of the 20,000 leagues area? -
usually if a person puts their name, I assume its genuine but I have been wrong before.

Yes, but I'm assuming they aren't completely pulling the contents of Mr. Helbig's quote from thin air. 2 things. 1 The Enquirer has been going down hill for the better part of the last 4-8 years. Add onto that it is an electronic article, which makes me think there will be edits before going to print. But yeah the Cincy Enquirer has been decreasing its product while increasing the price, so no surprise there are problems. The other thing could be that the quote was from Don a few weeks prior. There was not even a current photo attached to the article (at 835). So its possible they interviewed Don in October and are now running the article.

vague but true rumor of the day^^ Again, not that hard to state that "other old Arrow coasters at various CF parks." I count 3 vague words (other, old, various) in that phrase. What is old? 10, 20, 4 years? various? the true part being that at one point most if not all of these various old arrows will be gone... but when? So which KI arrow would be considered old and leaving? Flight Deck, Vortex, Adventure Express???

While it may be jumbled, I get what you are saying, but isnt Flight of Fear and Firehawk in X-base? Different than Coney Mall. X-Base is technically part of Coney Mall, not its own area. for now!

While it may be jumbled, I get what you are saying, but isnt Flight of Fear and Firehawk in X-base? Different than Coney Mall. Plus Racer runs the length of Coney Mall. Vortext is sort of like the bridge between River Town and Coney Mall. And to be serious for just a moment. Can we try to have a conversation on here without the flaming. You both are to blame and frankly I dont care who is more right/more wrong. You both come off as big @$$ #####... I edited it myself so deal with it

Is that because of the ride or you? I dont mean to be rude, but as we all get older and some of us get bigger, cough, rides dont fit like they should. When they dont fit like they should/did the ride experience suffers...

Geauga Lake 1982 promo video
shark6495 replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
so, I am not sure why but I think its because of all of secrets about GL that keep me interested in the park I never visited, except once to see Sea World. But if one would venture over to the GL message boards, http://geaugalaketoday.freepowerboards.com/index.php there are some people, who iam sure would be as upset as we would be if our park closed one day. But there is a rumor on their site about Big Dipper going to Coney Island?
