  1. Just like with everything in life, moderation is key. For the older crowd, going to a local watering hole every now and then is a great way to have a good time or you can stay at home and cook out. You can grill a steak once in a while. But if you do something for way too long, it will become boring and you will eventually leave it (not always, some do turn obsessions into careers). Moderation my friends, moderation.
  2. forgive me for asking this. Was the backwards racer just flipped as in just turned around. Or did they have to switch the chassis to run correctly... I hope this makes sense to someone answering my question. I didnt know if they had to just turn the coaster around or re-engineer the chassis... If the coaster was just flipped to run backwards, couldnt they build a backwards seated coaster car that would function like the forward coaster but with the seats in reverse?
  3. when did they remove the buzz bars and add the seat dividers on The Beast? I mean I sort of remember not having them on the ride when I was little.. but I cant remember for sure or if it was just my imagination
  4. terrified children in the air also Terp. Imagine family members who were suppose to meet up and couldnt find their children who may have been stuck in the air. They may have assumed their kids were lost/stolen.
  5. hopefully this doesnt create a push to make guests tied into the train or to have the train have sides... 1 person's inability to make a good choice will cause others to have things changed on them.
  6. this is awesome. I love going to zoos. The wilds is def worth going to if someone has never gone.
  7. well even if you are stuck 30 feet off the ground for 3 hours is slightly different than being up at 300 feet for a few mins... plus what would you prefer? to be 300 feet up on a functioning ride or 30 feet up on a ride thats broke? maybe its just me but i freak out when i cant move anymore.. When I would go rock climbing and rappelling it was no big deal to go up 50 feet or higher. However, when my buddies would lock me off about 25 feet up where i couldnt go up or down... it was a frightening experience.
  8. So here is a dumb question... If it has to be hand cranked, why dont they have a machine to do the cranking? Like an oversized drill? maybe speed things up? maybe buy a socket wrench so they can use just one motion? #sarcasm
  9. as people clamor for pictures... please every respect the boundaries of the park. not really worth going to jail or getting a fine for driving too far down that back road...
  10. In the video, the sound of the crate hitting the lock sounded almost as loud as the lift hill...
  11. Fred Flintstone... Mainly because I miss the statues that marked the entrance into Kiddie Land
  12. Just like Terp said, but I may add Mythos at Universal. Went there (on people's advice) and it was great food, great service, great time, and not too expensive. The restaurant had plenty of table turn overs. Heck there was even an hour wait for lunch (at 2 pm). If I had not gotten reservations I would have had to wait. Imagine the families that would sit down and enjoy a lunch break in a shady beautiful location, while taking a break from running around the park...
  13. no I was not discounting that... please dont think I was.. EDIT Actually looking up the financial issues.. it looks like 03 was the end of the '00-03 financial crisis... so even my thought was wrong before, i was thinking of the wrong bubble bust...
  14. In 03 were we recovering from the internet bust? Now the housing bust?
  15. Well after the incident many bolts may have been loose. Many times in wood structures the bolts are tight when the structure is good, but when the structure fails, many other bolts will be come loose because of the lack of force on them.
  16. Only knew him from his posts here on the board. Sad Ill never ride diamond back and see him on it. He brought many things to this board and made us better, just like he did in the real world RIP
  17. But there is the idea that if you lower your prices, you increase sales. You make less per item but you make more over all... Example: 10 people by 2 cheese coneys each at $5 a piece = $100 - the price to make 20 chesse coneys you are left with about 80 dollars in profit 10 people by 4 cheese coneys at $3 dollars a piece = $120 - the price to make 40 cheese coneys you are left with about 80 dollars in profit but at cheaper prices odds are more people buy... so theory again... At 5 bucks a piece All day you may get 100 people to buy 2 cheese coneys each = 1000 - 200 (price for product) = 800 profit At 3 bucks a piece All day you may get 200 people to buy 4 cheese coneys each = 2400 - 400 = 2000 profit.... EXAMPLES the idea that each cheese coney costs 1$ to make just a thoery though... business people get pair more than I to figure this out
  18. a wrist band for either would be good... but the tea/lemonade mix is better... IMO
  19. Favorite quote ever? Maybe. "We like rides that make you find religion as you are on them"
  20. At Universal they do this on most rides. I would think if the picture is digital it should be fairly easy to do. You can do it on your computer at home as well, so the software is available for free.
  21. Actually thats an interesting site you linked to... anyone here want to buy a greased lightning?
  22. At Islands of Adventure they too had free style machines, and for 85 cents you could refill your souvenir cup....
  23. So the decision has been made and the trip is booked. We leave tomorrow for 4 days in Orlando. Monday we will be at Universal and Tuesday at IoA. We have lunch reservations for Mythos and we got our fast passes to make sure we are able to hit every ride in the park.... so excited a TR will be coming sometime when we get back.... Thanks for all of the help KICers
  24. to think people pay money to break a law.... haha it is against the law to deface currency... saying that, the pennies are nice and cheap memories for families and kids
  25. Man oh Man! How many people have worked in food service in here? Yes it seems easy, your order was simple. But on the other side of the counter, there may be a fan. Its loud. its hot. The person may have been working for 6 hours straight taking orders. All of a sudden the simple order is nothing but. Sometimes a person is bad at their job, sometimes its just a bad mixture. AKA good try today come back tomorrow and do better! Maybe she was normally a food prep person and the cashier was sick/called off. She had to step up because she "knew" the register. Doesnt mean shes good at it just knows what she is doing... Things, I will also complain about at a restaurant: Dirty Bathrooms (clean bathrooms usually means clear restaurant), cold food, rude service. Other than, some things can be over looked. But really getting upset at people who may never have had a job before is stupid. People go to KI to get a job (sometimes their first job). I dont expect Suzy (16yrs old) with her first job to be as good at Susan (24) working for 8 years... Man oh Man....
