That does not happen anymore. In fact, I never knew that it did. A neat idea, though. Really? The 2 times we rode it on July 13th it did. Once stopped a small light could be seen going over a few seats before the ride took off. Then I guess it might happen. As I said, I typically sit in 1-1. I might have to check that out. Even if that's the case, it's an effect that, I'm sure, was complimented by the synchronized soundtrack, which is inaudible when it even plays at all. I'm very interesting in seeing this effect with my own eyes, though! I am with you I have never seen that effect, ever. I even stood inline its opening year and have made it a ritual of the park to ride it. But again like you I either sit 1-1 or 2-1. So if it happens mid train I have never seen it on that ride... how sad am i? almost ten years (or so) of riding a ride in the same spots....

I feel like you guys do but I have to admit sometimes I am a bad line person. I have been known to hop out of line (while my family/group) is in line, and bring back 4 or 5 waters. I never do this if the ride is in the que stations but if its lined out past that (FOF in its older great popular days) I will.... please dont stone me, I just dont want my family dead.... lol

Dorney: $8 Million Planet Snoopy
shark6495 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
so if this is a success what are the odds that this would role out company wide over the next ten years? (thats a big if CF still owns 11 parks). I liked this part. Parents and kids riding together = awesome. Parents dont have to just wait for the kids at the exit.... and there goes the idea CF doesnt do themed areas... -

correct me if i am wrong, but isnt it only illegal discrimination if the business takes federal money? I mean if I own a small business and take no federal money I can hire who I want for whatever reasons I chose. However if my business does business with the govt then I am not allowed.... -
Cincinnati Zoo Won't Hire Smokers
shark6495 replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
my thoughts exactly. It has to be a protected class of people. I wonder why kentucky lists tobacco users as... oh wait I know why.... Bans on people, i can understand. But a ban on an optional use instrument at personal property? not sure I follow the unconstitutionalness of it.... ^ Workers are always supervised. Maybe not by a superior, but by customers and fellow workers. If a customer saw a person light up a cigarette, I'm pretty sure that they'd tell customer service if it bothered them. And if they are somewhere that no one can see, rather it be a customer, superior, or co-worker, then what's the harm (especially if it's in their own home)? the ban takes place not just at work but at home...... -

shark6495 replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
well if they make a practice of hiring non-smokers then maybe they look at it as a way to cut costs on their health insurance premiums. Being a smoker, usually, means you are less healthy than a person who does not smoke. (if all other things are the same) ie. two men are both 24 years old, 6'0" and 190 pounds. the smoker will have more issues (usually) with pulmonary, cardiac, and other issues that can arise from smoking..... -
just to be sure are all getting paramount ownership confused with the cbs days?

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
shark6495 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Oops, I forgot that one! Thanks for pointing that out. *I'm not referring to everyone on here as kids, it's just the ones that are being rude and hateful about it that are (and have been) getting on my nerves, along with several of my friends who do enjoy the ride. My point of view is "as I see it," and is not intended to be argumentative, so I'm sorry if it sounded that way. I thought you might have. revamping and maintenance costs are 2 different things that determine a rides future.... i know you were not be, I was just bringing the conversation back around to the point of the thread. SOB is not running this year because someone, who gets paid for their opinion, does not think SOB is either safe or enjoyable enough to be ridden this year. Nothing more or nothing less. I personally dont like the ride but my day is not ruined nor made better by the ride being torn down or running.... -

where does major revamping sit on this list? Those are good reasons to tear down the ride but obviously someone high up is not happy with this ride. So its not just some "kids" on a forum wishing it would be torn down. -

*memory loss is a sign of a concussion or a serious neural injury.... hahah in all seriousness if you didnt ride the ride with the loop you missed the good years of SOB. I have stated earlier SOB was one of my favorite rides till the loop was lost. Then it was not as fun then the newer trains and the ride just kept getting rougher.... so will I miss the ride of 2009? no. 2001? yes... -

^ Agreed. Taking out the cars was one of the things that old and new could ride together. Coasters are great but if you have a small child or an older adult you can not take them on Diamondback or Beast. The shows are getting better. For a while (a few seasons ago) it felt like it was nothing but the "b" cast. Now its starting to get a bit better. But again I think the point is that there is not enough at the park for families to do, as compared to years back when there was.... -
(btw, I was referring to the cams that take your picture while on a ride. I would not suggest it for any other cameras.) So....... by "Family Park" you mean sell Alcohol to parents in the park to support Child Abuse? Alcohol + Parents = Child Abuse but.... by societies terms, Alcohol is a family thing. Words such as "Obscene, Offending, and Indecent" are "Control Words". Words used to mean whatever the user of the words want them to mean at any given time when they want to suppress people according to their own personal feelings and views. Much like the Nazi Police of Germany or the Thought Police from the book "1984". The people and businesses spreading these kind of laws do so in chain reaction out of fear and hate while they help to create more hate and fear by placing laws against love and freedom, usually putting profit before people and making the people think and act like robots. "What is really considered Family and would you choose which groups of people deserve to be in the park more than others?" If a stranger came up to you and wanted to give you a hug, would you let them? I narrowed it down, and I feel bad because I am still not sure if this guy is real or just trying to PO people...... When did alcohol+parents= abuse? Alcohol does not make someone a bad person, please step down from your high horse.... Do you have issues with obscene and control words? are you one of those people who think the govt is becoming facist/communist depending who is in power? Look everyone has rights as long as your rights do not take away rights of others. And yes to the hug thing. I actually was at work (back during the school year) and this older lady hugged me because I carried some stuff out to her car for her. She said she never met someone who was so nice working for mart-Wal...... yes kissing is not bad but I think Selective was suggesting something a little less pg.... Agreed

and that is why i still frequent this site versus that one.... -
well i sit in the middle of the road on this one..... if you dont run a red light, then well what do you need to worry about? Yellow lights mean slow down and prepare to stop, not gun it hoping to beat the red.... now with that said, I do know that sometimes the lights are triggered by approaching speed (the camera decides if the speed at which you are approaching is enough to stop or are you planning on rolling through) or if you cross the line (IE if you roll 2 feet over the line its the same as running the light).... what I find works the best for traffic flow and speedsters are what were in covington/newport. It was the lights that monitor speed. If you stopped at the first red light then when it turned green you would have a direct path as long as you kept the speed limit. If the light saw you going faster then it would trigger the red light causing you to stop... keeps everyone at a nice pace.... There is a solution to many of these "crime preventors" and thats to not break the law.... whats the difference of a red light camera or paying a cop to sit at each light ready to pull over light runners?

my apologies in advance but maybe I too am missing the issues with this article. Aside from the vulture comment, not really much was said derogatory. KK died, and the other parks swallow up the people who visit that park. Sadly not too many names start with v, that sound similar to voyage, that can be used to signify that other businesses are reaping the benefits of the void in Louisville. Also this is a louisville station, so in the grand scheme of things they only care enough if it results in less revenue dollars. I mean would anyone had been upset if he wrote "just a few hours north, The Beast munches on the remains of KK park goers." So he used an animal that is opportunistic.......

Should we blame it on it's age or our ages?...hahaha I think it's a 50/50 split, lol. As for the building, it should remain forever. I would go with our age.... Every year the rides get rougher and rougher.... the rides are maintained very well... i cant say that about our bodies... haha

SFKK on Delta's Boarding pass
shark6495 replied to stephatron's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes! On my way to Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom last week, I drove by a small billboard advertising Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Campground (an old family favorite) "located only two miles from Sea World." "And SeaWorld," I remarked, "is only 1025 miles from Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom!" But "Sea World," as the sign proclaimed, is in Australia. I figured that was a typo. I know the sing you speak of... I thought I was crazy and went back and redrove by it.... isnt it a yogi bear camp too?
