I understand your thought, but this mother did not leave home thinking Im going to drop my child into the dog pit. I am not saying she does not need to face charges but ultimately anything the law can throw at this mother, will most likely pale in comparison to what she is feeling. Gibson, I do not know if you have a child or not, but if you did and the child were to die under your watch, say drowns in a pool. Would it really matter to you what the law says or does to you? Again, I am not saying she should be let free because of remorse, but ultimately, anything that the public would/could charge her with would never match the internal conflict.

Its bite is the strongest of all carnivores and second strongest of all animals second only to the the marsupial devil.

Sonofbaconador things can still happen at the Cincinnati Zoo. Precautions can be made, but sometimes the precautions cause people to try and do stuff to get a better view. I think of the lion at the zoo (the old set up). I could have leaned over to get a better picture, get bumped, and go over into the pit.

while this is horrible and tragic and other words that do not accurately state what this event is. Should she be punished further? Will her family always ask her what was she thinking? Every day she will look at the room where her child played and the place where her child ate and know she was the reason that her child is no longer here. Family will try and help her through these times. Sure we could throw her into jail. But the jails are already over crowded as they are. Odds are to this mother a life time sentence in a jail cell would be no different than told to live in her home for the rest of her life knowing what could have been. Its not like she OD'ed on a drug and passed out. She raised her child and he fell out. Horrible horrible news.

Reading this just made me sick. Many questions will be asked but right now the only thing that should be asked is how can we help the mother/father of that young child? For many of us it will be a simple prayer for this family to find peace. For others it may be donating to the family in the future. Either way, what a horrible moment for this family, so close to the upcoming holidays.

I hate at work when people comment on what I am wearing... I work at a school as a professional (speech therapist), Very seldomly do I ever dress "down" even on Jean days. Since I am not a teacher, I like to dress professionaly, button up shirt and dress slacks while working... Terp's right, being privately curious is good, asking questions is just rude. Some people want to dress to impress or dress to be comfortable...

well based on the shorts conversation... I will many times be cold on my arms and hands but not my legs... If I am running to the store Ill wear my shorts and a hoody, even if its 34 out. Not a lack of common sense. Just me knowing my body. But if I am going to be out all day, Ill wear pants of some sort if its chilly.... but its all relative... if we are talking 50/60s in October we are cold... 50/60s in april we are warm...

Wasnt he on a show about kids who moved from Indiana to California, then they went to college? He was like a magic waiter or something right?

I am not doubting you, but I will believe this when it happens. Sort of like, watch what happens not what is said. They may dig up all of those footers, but realistically, may only dig up the ones that are in the way....

OFFICIAL: Cedar Fair Pairs with Coke
shark6495 replied to jcgoble3's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
3 for a bottle of Coke compared to universal.... universal's prices were very reasonable. 99 cents to refil a bottle? I believe bottles were like 2? -
TR I got your joke, and my point was just my personal thoughts on it, not connected to yours. I do applaud your effort at getting every SOB talking point into one post (had you done that over at the SOB page, it might be 40 pages shorter). Dwight, Im with you. 3 hours makes me rethink about climbing into the ride. If Vortex breaks down, or The Beast, you get climb down a set of stairs (which is super frightening for me anyways), but it would be done and over. 3 hours waiting for someone to use a hand crank... yeah not cool

This summer, my wife, sister in law, and nephew saw the Alonzo show. It was most def worth it. I hope he comes back next year. I also hope KI gets more of these shows. I love the fun for the family atmosphere.

Im not sure about anyone else but if I got stuck on WindSeeker for 3 hours, Im not sure I could ever ride another ride. I am not a huge fan of heights. I ride rides to help control and conquer my fear. Standing on the Eiffel Tower at KI makes my hands sweat and when the tower shakes I get super nervous. I usually dont like talking while in line for a new coaster and thought I was going to die when I rode Griffin at Busch Gardens, my wife made me ride the front seat, but the hanging scares me to death. If I would ever get the nerve to ride WindSeeker (and I probably never will) and it got stuck for 3 hours, I would probably pass out, vomit, or even worse. I go to the parks to help conquer fears and to enjoy the thrill of saying "I rode that." I dont plan on a ride breaking down, and if a ride breaks down time after time after time... then well the park must do something to assure me that I will not be stuck up there. If I got stuck on WindSeeker, I would demand my money back for my ticket/pass and would probably avoid theme parks for years... Im not kidding, when things like this break, and if Im on it, Im sure I would/will be freaking out.

Geauga Lake 1982 promo video
shark6495 replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
When I lived up and went to Kent I drove down to Geuga Lake to snap pictures. I took these photos in 2010 with just a standard Point and Shoot http://www.flickr.com/photos/49728734@N02/archives/date-posted/2010/04/29/ I didnt break into the park, just pictures you can get from public land around the park. The pictures of the big dipper were from the screen in front. I didnt venture to take any pictures on private property. But sad to drive around the park and see remnants of what once was... -
IRON MAN coming to Disneyland Park?
shark6495 replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Part of the reason Disney aquired Marvel was to give them access to things boys would like. If you have been to Universal when the Super Heroes go on parade, every young boy (and young girl and mom and dad) get excited to see them come driving by. Now at a Disney park, you are telling me both a boy can hang out with Iron Man and the young girl hangs out with Cinderella? And if Disney owns Marvel, its a Disney property. Its not like they are putting Deadpool in the park.... -
Geauga Lake 1982 promo video
shark6495 replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I went to Sea World Ohio when I was younger but never made it to the theme park side but it makes me truly sad to know that in Aurora and the area around there is filled with families who have lost the park that have been parts of their lives for years. Similar to KK. Imagine if KI were to close one day. Many people would lose family traditions. Sure you can travel to other regional parks but its just not the same. I have memories of my gpa linked to KI. By going to another park, it wouldnt be the same. Samething with Geauga Lake. Someone has a memory of their grandma sitting at a bench outside of a ride and will never get to see that bench/ride area and smile with memories... -
well an improvement could be a simple, chart stating what you get for how much you spend or the number of visits made. Still can had bonus days or special double secret surprise bonuses. With it being early in the program its understandable that things may change but if its to be improved it needs to have a set number for each level. 100 points at krogers gets you 10 cents in gas (or something).

what is happening currently with the WindSeekers... not much has been happening or being said publically...
-
But how much money must be invested to get the park back up to snuff? Plus money to make it competative?

Does ICEE offer both Coke and Pepsi flavored drinks or just Coke flavored?

Move One Ride from Anywhere in the Country to KI
shark6495 replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Coming Attractions
physically or financially? -
Again, its not about the value of a season pass (which is a great value). Its about the perceived value and savings. JCPenny recently went "rock bottom" pricing. They do not offer sales or coupons, and their goods are rounded to the nearest dollar. However, people do not shop as often because they are not getting a "deal." People love hearing they saved money. Remember when Circuit City closed their doors? A company came in, bought all of their goods, marked them up to above normal pricing, offered a 15% discount (which was about the same or more than the "normal" price), and people flocked to the stores to buy "clearenced" items. Same thing here. If you want to make people feel good, offer a "savings." Renew your season pass and get a free drink, renew your season pass and get a free fast pass for next year, renew your season pass and save 5 dollars.

Right or wrong, its about making customers feel they are important. Even offering a few bucks off (5) it may not hurt the bottom line too much but it would make the guests feel good. Just like the rewards system. Spend hundreds of dollars and get a free pop (exageration). Customers feel good and are willing to spend even more money..

I think we all need to really appreciate how much Don adds to this site. While fans of other parks have to sneak their way onto the property to get shakey cam footage or out of focus pictures, there is Don posting videos and pictures. Plus he helps put members in their place... someone give this man a medal! Side note: Does Don still hold The Racer Record? And cross threading here: Don's a good example of how an enthusiast can turn his hobby into a career.
