  1. thats weird ive been working closes this week and ive heard it right on the dot at 8, maybe your watch is off? no, we got off The Beast right at 8. they told us the park had officially closed there, and only there. it was definately the walk from The Beast and i didnt first hear it till we got outside the park gates....
  2. i remember doing that one time last year. But i still cant believe i didnt hear it one time, at all... Others claim they heard it and i dont doubt them. Maybe it was just extremely bad timing, but at least more than a few people werent informing guests, and i definitely did not hear a PA announcement until after the park closed for a good ten minutes or so...
  3. did paramount have consistent pricing for food/drinks among its parks?
  4. I knew when the park closed way before i left. Many others did not. I dont think they did it EVERY time, just every 15 minutes or so on a random train. id hear it every few rides or so past 5pm.
  5. I was at the park sunday and to my delight the lines were almost nonexistant. Needless to say, i noticed something peculiar as opposed to previous visits when the park does not close at its normal time (10PM). On almost every other visit, around 5pm they have the announcements state that the park closes at 8pm, along with having the ride ops occasionally mention that they close at 8 to exiting riders, as well... I didn't hear a single peep that the park closed at 8pm, even once it closed. They didn't even have it on the little signs as you go past the entrance gates saying park closed... I did finally hear something over the announcements but that wasnt until about 810 as i was walking out. It seems like this was overlooked for some reason... Most people knew it closed but there were quite a few who were confused and agitated that the park closed at 8.
  6. it has been sold and scrapped. someone on this very site said this very thing. i just dont know where, someone else could probably quote where though...
  7. I know what you mean by this, but id like to point out that Kings Island did not build this ride. They built The Beast and Partly built Son of Beast. B&M is the one to thank in this case...
  8. i rode Drop Tower around 640 today, and was looking at Son of Beast, but mainly at its station because i saw someone falsely posted that the que was dismantled. i saw that it wasnt, but i wasnt focused on anything else... I sincerely hope this is not the case, but we shall see...
  9. more than a little angered that they answered a will it be crowded question and completely ignored my question about this past friday and why it closed...
  10. i remember one random day in 2006 when it started pouring rain and lightning was all around they very strategically ushered everyone to indoor locations, the festhaus, arcade areas, etc... there were no exceptions, and they had all available employees appease guests and make sure noone was roaming around or trying to go out in the mess... im very surprised they didnt take anyone anywhere during the tornado siren...
  11. it may be a factor, and they may have changed the policy this year, but the fact that i was there when sirens went off, and they reopened proved that it is not a reason to shut down the park the entire day. it would definately be a factor, but still not the only reason. if it were a saturday as apposed to a wednesday that would play a big role, as well... ive never heard of them closing the entire park mid day before, either...
  12. I have a feeling its a policy to close for the day if a tornado siren is set off. Could be wrong though! definately not. it is policy to take people to shelters. as i have stated before in this very topic, ive been there when this has happened. afterwards, the weather cleared up and they reopened the park, even though there was about an hour or so left...
  13. just an update. they posted todays questions, and to no surprise, they did not answer my question about yesterday.
  14. while you may be right about them worrying more about closing the park down ( i dont buy the safety reasons) Son of Beast opening on July 4th was not planned. I remember someone asking that specific question and them saying that it was just coincidence that it was ready on that day, and that they had done extensive testing to make sure it was running how they liked it before reopening it.
  15. They have done it before... when SOB opened on July 4th, 2007 they put it on the park sign... It probably doesnt take but one person and 5 minutes to change it... I just think they dont want to put up anything negative there.
  16. the parks main sign. as i left after talking to guest services waiting 30 minutes after the park officially closed, the park sign still said park open today 10am to 10pm.
  17. it was definately NOT due to cold temperatures. it was rainy the first time, and supposed to be rainy the second time, and they would have lost money due to extremely low attendance. period. I planned to go both times, and was very disappointed then but i dealt with it because at least they told us beforehand. This time was once it was already open... they didnt even bother to change the sign yesterday...
  18. ive been there before on a day when the tornado sirens went off around 8 or so,and they still opened up the park once everything was clear. and it was NOT a crowded day, it was like a thursday in mid june.... of course it was still under paramount ownership that year....
  19. I specifically went for the same exact reason and i live about the same distance (45 minutesish from beavercreek/fairborn), and was VERY dissapointed (I arrived at 7:25 and it closed by the time we got to the turnstiles). I asked the question on the 5@5 but i dont expect an answer. I did wait around 30 minutes at guest services to ask that very question, and got a generic its for the safety of the guests mumbo jumbo. I asked why this was when their website states that the rides may close, not that the park may close early. They just said it was because another storm was on its way, but that just seems like a load of crap. Of course as a season passholder, they offered us absolutely nothing, as well... so i was out around 10 bucks in gas thanks to this, and once again i didnt get to get a night beast ride. I just have a feeling that this may be more common, it has already started last year with the Thursday haunts and now closing early. If this were today, this would not have even been considered, and THAT is my issue. I almost exclusively o on inclement weather days to avoid lines, and was more than disappointed they did this.
  20. They have tornado shelters, just like any other place you would most likely be. I got shuffled there when they called a tornado warning one saturday last year around 9pm or so... We went into the basement of Action Theater... and im sure there are many, many other shelters throughout the park.
  21. They say that the calendar is subject to change, not the hours. That part of the website is referring to them possibly adding or dropping a whole day, not changing an already ongoing one... They also say nowhere that they will close the park for incliment weather at all on their website. They were definitely handing out comp tickets though, they even informed people of this, and had a dedicated line for it. You just had to have the ticket stub/eticket form. It was really difficult for most as most lose them, or if they had them they were soaked...
  22. i too arrived right as the park was closing at 730. I was not a happy camper, and neither was the group i was with. I had just told them how i loved that Kings Island stayed open even in the incliment weather like today, we arrive at 720 and by the time we get to the front gate they wouldnt let us in. Their process in guest relations for handling it was pretty annoying, too... people with tickets could get a ticket for another day but they had to have the ticket stubs, and they made them wait forever...
  23. it was definately down all evening saturday. i went by at 945 to get a night ride, and it was closed for the night with a trash can and a standing employee...
  24. there is only one in my area, and it seems to fair well. But its the ONLY one around. Its right off I-675 Exit 15 coming from the south or 16 coming from the north... and it seems to do well/ are they planning on changing things around? i certainly hope not, because i am a big fan of hardees (but mainly because its a southern thing and i was raised in florida...)
  25. If you look, there's a spot for the sixth car, they just modified the railing. Notice the empty, but still straight space, just enough for another car: also, keep in mind that all the models are of this roller coaster are practically identical to one another, so maybe Kings Island just decided to be different and only have five car trains and keep the track model unchanged. Kings Island had the FIRST one, so they would have no idea whether or not they would build any more after ours. Besides, they dont do ANYTHING just to do it, there is a reason, but if they tell you that or whether you like it is a different story...
