OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
TheSonofBeast replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
same with me. unless i ride it multiple times in the very last seat (which was known to happen...) i really didnt feel any pain or discomfort. I know people experience pain on it, though... many people i have ridden it with only rode it once. I did warn them, as well... and the website doesnt list the link for the Son of Beast page, but it is still there, just not visible. see here. Im just curious as to what they put on the maps... its getting kind of ridiculous not to have a map and not know the names of 2 rides and a show and not know if SOB is on the map by this time of the year.... -
OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
TheSonofBeast replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I HIGHLY doubt that any major new attraction is in the cards for any of the parks next year at least under current ownership (which is pretty much certainly going to be completely different in the near future...) That being said, I think Son of Beast could still make a triumphant return sometime late this season, after the dust is settled with who owns the park. They already would have two engineering firms looking into possibilities, and its possible the new owners could just say hey lets do this. I hope (but highly doubt) that Son of Beast makes a return July 4th like 2007! that would be awesome! Point is, i dont think Son of Beast would ahve interfered with ANYTHING coming into the park whatever year it would open... -
its gaining ground signifigantly. apple has remained stagnant in marketshare, while android has shot through the roof. it already now has 15.2 percent marketshare, which is around a fourth of iphones 63 percent. beyond that, google voice is thriving, and is extremely useful in many circumstances especially on android. It will be getting VOIP in the near future which will completely undermine skype. and apples lawsuit will go nowhere, i think in the end the courts will side with what makes sense, and that is that technology ideas shouldnt be patented, only the code behind it. either that or they would be forced to allow others to license the technology. they are really reaching in the lawsuit, anyways... some of those patents were from the 90s...

YES! im not the only one here who feels that way. The Iphone developing field is not a fair one, apps get pulled way too much and many are rejected for arcane reasons (like duplicating features even if the app does it better than the stock app, ala opera and google voice, to name a few...) anyways, i just dont see the point in this. only 16 percent of people using a smartphone (which would probably be narrowed down signifigantly when you think in terms of how many people would actually bring their smartphone and have it out at the park...) would be able to use the app if it were for iphone, and it doesnt really justify the exorbitant fees of creating an app and getting it published on their terms... with android, anyone can cook it up with the android sdk and publish it online anywhere, and people can install it on their phone by transferring onto an sd card!

There will not be any ERT opening day.
-
i would certainly hope not, as that would mean only about 8 percent of people would be able to watch it, which is not a sensible move for anybody at this point...

its seems to be much like maverick. it just slowly goes back into position and just relaunches. i missed it by one train last time i went...

Carowinds Gets CP Site Overhaul
TheSonofBeast replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
heh, but then we wont have those nice url switcheroos anymore... seriously, though it is a good thing they are finally getting around to it. although, i must say it would probably be best to get on that, as around park opening is when most people visit the website to buy passes and tickets, and doing a site switchover with possible hickups could be a potential disaster.... -
look! you can order your very own lifesize snoopy right here! is this for real? it just seems a bit much... lol
-
yeah, im pretty sure they dont plan on opening Son of Beast. just found this under the FAQs for Math and Science Days... Source
-
you know, this isnt going to get very far. As interesting as it might be to know, i doubt Kings Island would want to tell anyone this information for many, many reasons. Plus, there are probably a huge amount of factors.... They probably dont even have a firm number, just an estimate...
-
probably something to do about Apollo and the proposed merger, im guessing...
-
yes, you can. the point is, you are talking about a picture of a skyline that is highly inaccurate. We are talking about the REAL skyline at Kings Island... the stuff you see when driving into Kings Island and in the parking lot...
-
for real about Son of Beast. if theres one thing it has, is skyline space.... and honestly you dont really see Delirium except when its in operation, and even then not much in the skyline...
-
yes, apparently they do count it. see here. This totally kills my mood. It may not be official, and Kings Island may still open it, but its still dissapointing to say the least.
-
did they count that as a coaster? i was trying to find something from last year citing how many coasters Kings Island said, to no avail. i just counted coasters knowing the knowledge of a previous thread noting Kings Island counts The Racers as one coaster.
-
i noticed something. recently, they allow you to prepurchace general admission tickets for this season. on that page, it specifically notes 14 roller coasters. Taking that and going by Kings Islands count which includes The Racers as one coaster, it would seem that Son of Beast is here to stay and at least hinted at being open. Source While this doesnt specifically say that it will open, it certainly implys it will. Checking out a coaster to most people means hey lets ride it, not hey lets stare at it for hours and wonder why its still here... although i do admit that it does have an ambiguous meaning, but still interesting to note. I just wonder what they will do when jobs come up. If Son of Beast were to open, they would have to train somebody... It would also have to get its required hours for it to be certified this year as well... There isnt much time before something must be said or done...

it truly was an awesome spectacle. the passion and positive energy against the tax was phenomenal. I actually found it entertaining! +1 for the former councilman from when Kings Island was annexed into Mason, and Sen. Gary Cates for his speech, and professionalism! -5 for Tony Bradburn having a 10 minute power point on how technically they don't have to abide by the agreement because it wasn't written down. That was a bad move, in my opinion...

Son of Beast merchandise (well, merchandise that specifically mentions Son of Beast) has shown up on the website, 3 items, a mug, scrapbook, and photo frame. Interesting, to say the least. still dont know if its just coincidence or just selling any random item hoping people dont notice its there...
-
whats interesting is that there are quite a few items now with Son of Beast listed. a mug, scrapbooking kit, and photo frame. were those on sale last year? i didnt really check the shop for those types of items, so i dont know. ive seen the scrapbooking kit, but the others i dont think so. I did however buy a 4 pack of shotglasses that were fear the four as they had SOB on them... im still glad i got a SOB commemorative coin sealed in the package from its opening year, it has all the records, the old logos and everything!
-
I wouldnt say the ride is worthless, it could be recycled for money.... lol in all reality the park will make a decision that makes the bottom line look the best apparently not the case from what i could gather. its pretreated wood and has about as many uses as containers of radioactive waste... would probably cost a fee just to get rid of it...
-
Did some of the ride ops at AT get a little annoyed with SB? actually, i just think it was going bad from being overused. there was a long while that they had to use a crappy 2d version of it...

Kings Island's 2010 Schedule Released
TheSonofBeast replied to Diamondback FOF's topic in Kings Island
Wouldnt count on it! They did cancel both Thursdays this year. One with good reason, the other was just rediculous. Thats what they wanted you to think, (at least the second thursday). That day hardly rained, and it was only a chance to begin with. From what i remember a lot of people mentioned staffing issues. Needless to say, i was ****ed i planned to go both thursdays and both were closed. -
I went there 2 saturdays ago, from behind Great Wolf Lodge there is a dirt road with a locked gate, that if you go right before it you can see right up next to top gun, and can see a little bit of the rose bowl, and the lift among a few other bits and pieces. it was still all in one piece, with no construction crews in the area. on another note, who owns that greenhouse? its just so randomly placed, and an odd thing to have. its not abandoned, either.
