  1. i didnt say that its problems were because of how it was handled, but merely pointing out that Cedar Fair definitely has not helped the situation at all in how it has been handled. I do know that Son of Beast has its problems, of which Cedar Fair had nothing to do with, and was just handed off. Son of Beasts problems are in flaws in the design of the monster of a ride.
  2. but didnt terpy note that he hadnt given Kings Island the number he had been called on? and i would not be surprised if they added something like that with the season pass agreement... its in such small print. i just wish they would actually follow the agreement in stead of just when Kings Island deems fit.
  3. i honestly hope it will reopen, but it is only hope at this point. Honestly, this could have been over and done with a LONG time ago, because all the management at Cedar Fair has done is create a mass amount of confusion and sending of mixed signals. They are so far behind the game on this issue. It took them what a month after the investigation cleared the ride to actually just say hey we are closing it for the year. They had the guest relations personnel lie to everyone, they just slowly removed things with no explanation, and then just test it out of the blue for no apparent reason. one thing is for sure, this has been a disaster and will continue to be so until it is over.
  4. something i should note. if they were to put in timberliners, which i would say is doubtful... anyways, if they were, from waht i can tell from them testing it on the raven is they glide along the track, a lot faster than other trains do... would Kings Island really want to have Diamondback lose its speed record? i mean its only got to go 2 mph faster to beat it....
  5. yeah. i dot think it really would surprise anybody. the fact is, if they have truely given up all hope on the ride, why pay a ride op, a few workers, and some maintenance staff to sit around and test this thing for a few days?
  6. haha dont you mean this.
  7. heh, if you could find a buyer... didnt someone point out that there are a whole slew of coasters up for sale, that normally would sell within a short amount of time? i vaguely recall reading such a thread...
  8. given the possible chance of rain that day, and it being early in haunt season, topped off with the fact it isnt open during the day to the public should make for the BEST saturday of the year to visit haunt. It will just get more crowded from there...
  9. there were more than a few of them...it was heavily advertised. i myself have a commemorative coin celebrating its opening and all of the new records it achieved. There is a promo spoof of the blair witch project that Kings Island did for it, i think on the KICentral videos somewhere....
  10. i think his point was that Six Flags was using cables that were inferior, and not to the manufacturers specs and werent changes as often as they should have been if i remember correctly?
  11. this is almost as bad of an idea as the arcade tournament style corn hole game that ive seen a few times, i think at dave and busters...
  12. i highly doubt they would have last rides this year. For one, that would basically be telling the general public the ride is gone, before the offseason. Im sure that would have a damper on season pass sales, something they do not want... My guess is they are doing some sort of tests to see what they want to do if anything to the ride, or as someone else pointed out just to keep the ride controls and whatnot up to date....
  13. King Cobra closed end of 2000, Delirium opened 2003- two full seasons in-between with empty space. Bat closed sometime in 1982, Vortex opened 1987- a bit more than four full seasons. Wrong...King Cobra's last season was 2001. Bat did not close in 1982. It ran from '81 until '84, and was removed before the start of the 1985 season (though it was closed most days while it ran). Vortex did indeed come 3 years later, in 1987. As for Delirium replacing King Cobra, that came a lot quicker, as King Cobra was actually still standing when the 2002 season started (not 100% sure, 90%, and it was not not shown on the park map that year) and was torn down during the 2002 season. Probably confused people who didn't know KI or visit it before. ("Mommy, why isn't that big green rollercoaster that's half buit on the map?" "It's probably what's new for 2003, honey..." Always tear rides down DURING THE OFFSEASON. actually, The Bat did not operate in 1984, it just sat dormant while management figured out what to do with it. (havent we heard that again?) then it was announced that november it would be removed. It wasnt even all the way removed until 1986 so they could get The Vortex in its place...
  14. you have a point but your Flight of Fear argument is NOT valid. there are quite a few EXACT copies of that ride, and there is at least one with no MCBR even installed...
  15. haha, it really is. i honestly dont even know why they open it early, as its so boring. i went one saturday, and i was the only one on the train and you could still feel the trim brakes grab hard... it made the ride so slow that when you crest the hill right before the second lift you almost stop...
  16. i think it was after 2003 when a train hit another train in the station at like a rediculously low speed (think like coasting into at around 1-2mph) during a light rain or something...
