  1. The KillMart was cuter than it was scary, but then, it's new, I expect the pace will pick up over time.
  2. My first dog, again, a Scottie, had a Batman cape for when he went for his walk during Halloween. He quickly noticed the amount of biscuits from neighbors increased. He loved that Batman cape after that. I'm invited to a Scottie picnic/Halloween party, and due to Netflix, am seriously thinking of a Hawiian shirt for the Scottie I have now, with those eyebrows and that mustache, it would take very little for him to be Magnum, PI.
  3. No, you're not- We wondered the same thing every year at Haunt, "How do the hosts keep their voices after talking all night?"
  4. Obstacle Course? That leaves my Scottie out- He only does the Obstinate Course.
  5. Thanks, now I have the "Jack Benny Show" intro running through my head. (Lucky Strikes Means Fine Tobacco.)
  6. They had a fog machine positioned directly behind one of the benches of the Rivertown smoking section. It gave the illusion of someone really getting their fix. This one woman was calmly sitting there with a cigarette, and it looked like she was smoking like sixty.
  7. I suspect because there's stuff that has to be done, i.e., makeup, that's been shown as it's being done. The monsters probably don't get there until a designated time. Besides, they show them the maze after lights off, which probably can only occur after the show starts.
  8. Lorax, Thanks for the trip report- even though it wasn't a happy one. It gives perspective on why this park is so sketchy.
  9. Thank you. This might be the best bet for these guests. The larger crowds in late October are discouraging to them, and I don't think they would get their value. They love the rides, meh on Haunts, and like sit down dinners. They wouldn't be adverse to a more toned down Halloween. They don't dress as ghouls, they choose Lobster Costumes. Edit: Talked to them about it, and they were super happy for the lighter Halloween. As an added note, one of them had the childhood nickname of Snoopy, so it's seems this even was tailor made.
  10. There's a remark that says that SF is 25.00 to enter- that can't be right; is it? That sounds like a lot of the problem there, if that is the case.
  11. There were some drama teachers there with students, for the "Scare School", which I thought was a great idea. The park evidently shows them the workings of a maze with the lights on, then they go through it with the lights out. Me, I was sitting there thinking. "It's Friday night, about nine o'clock, how many teachers would be pleased to be sitting here in this park, responsible for how many kids?" But they were truly enjoying it.
  12. My Midwesternism is showing. I can see a parent pulling their working kid out of a park that's that dangerous, but it's hard for me to wrap my head around a park being that dangerous. I recall Lesourdseville towards the end, but that's as sketchy as my imagination will allow.
  13. Yes, it did affect the event. People will not attend in future, so yes, the Fright Night will be effected by lower ticket sales. Again, I'm amazed at the mother who instructs her children "To call if there is trouble"- Lady, BE THERE to see the trouble. There is nothing so important as to let your children go it alone in a potentially hazardous situation. Don't use the Drop Zone, attend the event with your kid. It's not cool at fifteen to be with your parent- too bad- when your forty you can be cool when you recount the great outing you had with your folks.
  14. I've stated before that I scheduled Halloween at KI with two different groups of friends, I'm suspect that the kids' Halloween might be a good idea for the second group, but I've a question: During kiddie Halloween, are the large rides open? I'm speaking of Banshee, Diamondback, The Beast, etc.. This second group of guests is easily discouraged by the long lines on rides in late October, and are very squeamish about Haunts. They like life easy. Would Snoopy Halloween be a better idea?
  15. But people do bring their kids to the Haunt, I'll not lie, if my father had a chance in the past, before they had large scale Haunts, he would have brought us to to KI at Halloween. I was his soldier in the past, and looked out for my sister. He would take us to the JayCee Haunted Houses, a passel of girls, and go through with us. If my sister got too scared, I was there. This sparked a huge interest in me: special effects makeup, I would not have the job I have today if I weren't so intrigued. He was a big monster movie buff, he loved frights, and in a dad's mind, he's sharing what he loved with us, like he did fishing. I saw a dad in front of me in line to get in,(My husband says I'm a Monster Magnet.) his boy was about 12, and as monsters came by, he gave reassurances, and had his arm around him. Some kids should come to Haunt, we don't know the psychology behind the parents bringing them. I have to say the parent should be there, to share the experience with them, not just drop them off and pick up. In my personal experience, parents lose a lot by not being an active part of their children's lives. The father and son in front of me in line have a lifetime of memories. Some of the parents who dropped their children off at Six Flags on Fight Night will have a lifetime of regret. I think the new gewgaw, the "No boo" is, as Boddah says, good for the midway. I suspect the roamers will know about this, as everyone must meet each afternoon to get their look on.
  16. The Undertaker is pretty funny at times! Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk He's fantastic! We were wondering how he can use that voice all night and not get hoarse. He's quite a show, anyone who just walks blithely by on their way to the rest of the park is missing out. To be singled out by him is hilarious, I hope everyone has the same sense of humor we had about it. When some people get frightened, you get the initial "Oh!" of surprise, then they laugh, mostly at themselves- the fellows in the Slaughterhouse cottoned onto that pretty fast, and we had one of the most enjoyable times watching them rib my cousin. (There were cameramen in the Slaughterhouse when we first went through, though we were literally the first ones, Stinky and me, and some poor guy I shoved in front of me to get the brunt. We just waited until the photographers got their shots, we suspected they were either news or PR . it didn't take away from the experience any.)
  17. That's what I was thinking, it's not just the 'No Booers" not being frightened, it's everyone in a ten foot vicinity. I like the idea for the park, i.e., walking down Coney, but perhaps those too frightened to go into mazes might be a little more responsible for themselves and just not go into the Haunt mazes!
  18. In every article, I'm reading about paniced parents rushing to the park to pick up their kids...and yet they don't see that they are part of the problem. Why weren't they AT the park with their kids?
  19. There was a lot of security last night at KI, but then again, I think it was the regular amount of security, but without the massive crowds I'm used to at the end of the season. At first I wonder if it was due to this incident, but then my common sense took hold. This occurrence will have long lasting implications to many of the patrons that affected by this, and thus, the park. I'm one of those people that won't favor a restaurant anymore if the Hot and Sour Soup has changed to bad, and I'm one of a million. It takes very little for some people to chalk up a bad experience and move onto to somewhere else.
  20. The make up was better this year, very good. As testament to the Haunt, my cousin found once he got there, he had to pay admission, and not go on his pass. At the end of The Beast, (And he only stayed three hours) he announced that he certainly got his money's worth. He loved the guy on the huge stage at the park's entry. I forgot his official name, but my cousin had tears in his eyes from laughing so hard.
  21. Psychoscarapy at HHN did just that....there was a washroom scene with inmates, poo on the walls, a fake inmate in a stall, recorded "toilet and bowel sounds" and a nasty smell to go along with it. Totally disgusting but thats part of the fear of the unclean.....yuck. To me, the smell is important. If a Haunt smells like latex and paint, it makes it more fake to me. On another note, I don't think there could be ANYTHING worse to smell realistically than that gastrointestinal bleed toilet in Club Blood.
  22. The rain held off tonight, I took my cousin. I went twice through Slaughterhouse, once with my husband as soon as I got there, and again when my cousin arrived. It was a great night, we got on all of our favorites rides, got through the Haunts, (and one twice, as stated), and the weather and people were great. I think I'm going to go early next year, too. I was happy that all the monsters were in character and on top so early in the season. My cousin has a tendency to laugh when he's surprised- it's not an insult to the monsters, it's just the way he is. On a side note, this year is the first time the fog got to me. It could be other factors, such as pollen still being in the air this early, or the fact that it just stopped raining, but it was a bit of a surprise.
  23. I'm going tonight, can't participate, but if you see a woman that looks like Rocket J. Squirrel mocking your Banshee/wing combo queasiness, that would be me.
  24. Oh, dear- my little hypothesis became possible earlier than I thought.
  25. The whole "purge" thing is based on the ideas of authorities allowing the carnage without repercussions. These teens don't understand that this is not a government snctioned event, as it was in the films- People will retaliate. Hopefully, the law will retaliate, though lately, I'm not trusting anything that represents our government.
