  1. Thanks! I can't get there, but I'm very curious. The new store front for the Funnel Cakes looks great, from what I can see on the video.
  2. May I ask a favor? For those going to the preview, Can someone update us on the alterations to Tower Garden? I'm going to be honest, I've been Votto with my wish list for KI, AND I'm wondering if I'm 300 with the kiddy rest park I'd wished for.
  3. Wowzers! I wonder what story is under KI? I'm really happy about this. I don't mind the shooting gallery aspect, it seems kids are less afraid when they have a defense against the monsters. Having them shoot sure beats a parent or guardian having to carry them out of the attraction while the kid rants off an Irish cussing fit. (Yes. That did really happen) This is going to be such a great addition.
  4. I've never been to Thorpe or Alton, but have had British guests at KI that have been there. They have always commented on how long the coasters are. Upon looking at the Diamondback from the Eiffel Tower, one guest asked me why we had two coasters painted exactly alike.
  5. Does anyone else have to Google pictures of some of these rides to find out exactly what they are? there's usually twenty different names for the same amusement ride.
  6. On WDTN's site, they had a sit down blurb with Don Helbig, showing the new Snoopy Gliders. I like that he's good at PR talk, but you can still see he's a fan of the park. That's a combo that's hard to find nowadays- just listen to a podcast sometime and you'll see what I mean.
  7. I am so Marvel, it would make you cry to know me.
  8. Thank you, Magenta Lizard - It makes me wonder how much of the actual 'garden' they are going to keep,
  9. Any news on Tower Gardens and its renovation?
  10. I didn't read the article until I read from you guys that he was alright. I didn't want to know if he was hurt badly or worse, killed. I truly appreciate the maintenance workers, and didn't want to read anything truly awful.
  11. I was thinking as I read this, "This is what Fast Lane is for.", then I started rifling through my mind of the 'must rides'. I drag my visiting guests onto The Beast as soon as they are adjusted to the extremes of the coasters. The Banshee is also a must, though I've had an out of state visitor insist it wasn't a coaster per se, as the ride is nothing like anything they've rode before. It's very elegant. Your plan will give you plenty of time to experience the park, and get quite a few extra rides in. The Holiday World excursion sounds like a winner, and I envy you, as I have yet to get there.
  12. When my cousin worked the Antique Cars, she recalled some wiseacre picking up part of the track, and the cars veered allover.
  13. Thank you all for correcting me. I read RIGHT THERE "Warner" and I don't know why I thought it was Universal. What's so sad, I'm doing a wizard school theme for a dog show, and sat through every one of those movies with the Warner logo emblazoned onto my eyeballs. (I don't know if it's because my niece is saving to go to Harry Potter world in Florida or not, that I mistook it. There's only so many email ads you can get a day before they all blend together.) What? I was so mad I couldn't see straight? No. There's not even the same number of syllables in those studio names. Railrider, I was not grasping at straws, I made an honest mistake. I'll not come down on you when you do the same thing.
  14. I'll not lie, if I lived closer, I'd love to be a litter gitter.Tower Gardens is in such a sweet section of park, I do sit there a lot for a break. It does need some major upkeep. It always surprises me to see people reading books there. I guess I'm rambunctious, I wouldn't take a book to a theme park- I don't even take my phone.
  15. http://time.com/3754005/harry-potter-owls-cruelty/?xid=emailshare Sorry about the link, that was the only way to get it. It looks at first blush that PETA is targeting Disney competition. I'm not saying Disney is involved, but considering the park is reported to have an army is stray cats, where is PETA in the concern about this?
  16. Until DieselTech posted, I was going to say "The Challenge". It would be nice to see some improvement in PR.
  17. All it needs is wishbone Cs.
  18. To be honest, I'm glad they are doing something with it- we don't know why the are completely flattening it, but with waterfalls that didn't work, and artifacts from Paramount Story, it was looking seedy. I don't know if they are completely redoing a garden, or recreating a different scenario altogether, but it's a nice property that wasn't being used properly. I always wanted it to be a kids' rest area, but let's see what happens.
  19. Funny about the "Kings Island calling her name." That happens a lot in our area. We have a very personable park. She seems like a fun sort- front seat on the Banshee at the vey least.
  20. All of the Coney rides are fun! Even the Scrambler, though I hated running it; parents blow it off as a kiddy ride. It's hard to get a kid to sit up straight in a ride and hold on when their parents insist it's okay for them to lay down, or otherwise compromise their safety. Yes, I understand centrifical force will help them stay in the seat, but an E stop blows all your Einsteining out the window, and your kid onto the pavement. I love the carousel, too- but same problem. If your kid wants to stand on a horse; Barnum's camp is south of here. Sorry for the grouching; maybe it's just winter.
  21. When introducing myself to people (especially those from other countries) and I'm asked where I'm from, I say "Ohio" and then they get that look. "I live close to Wright Patterson- yaknow.... Hangar 18." "Ah...." Yah, they know where the aliens are, at least.
  22. I knew one of the fellows on the construction crew when it was first built; he recently just died of cancer. He knew it was special, and when they were building, they talked about the fun they were going to have, like they were building it for themselves. There were so many things going at once, he told me, that as his crew would finish and go to clock out, they took time to see hat other things were being built. He recalled it as being a grand time in his life, and loved to see peoples' faces when they entered the park and took it allll in. His name was Harry Adler.
  23. In retrospect, the park looks so small compared to today, but when I first went, it was huge! I'm certainly glad I wore out the soles of my feet back then, because I didn't know most of those Coney rides would be gone so soon.
  24. I thought the petting zoo was nice, they rotated the animals. We didn't see the joey because it was too cold for him, too windy, but we saw a lot of pretty calm animals not bothered by kids. Yah, I know, PETA would accuse me of not knowing what the animals think- but the camels didn't spit, there was no flinching, it was clean. There were plenty of attendants around to supervise. I could see where KI would be quiet about a petting zoo; the whole "animals in a park" gig has been taking a beating in the media lately. Some petting zoos are stinky and run down, with the animals in bad shape. I didn't see that at KI. It would be a long walk to the Pet Daycare from Planet Snoopy, though. I'm thinking it's just a shift of finances. The Pet Daycare was never crowded when I went there, and as it's been stated in this thread, the view of dogs on vacation has changed. The last three Scottie shows I attended were in a hotel, and the dogs stayed in the rooms.
  25. I can bet that their care bucket would be empty. There's too many sharks, PETA can't bully All the aquariums in the world. Baby steps with that bunch. Besides, sharks aren't cute and cuddly and winsome.
