I'm glad your staying on, you were my first thought when reading the post. The KI Pet Day Care was great, and I really appreciated it, and my dog loved the attention, but if the employees are treated fairly, I can accept it closing. I looked up the Red Dog Pet Resort and Spa on the web, and was glad to see they had separate areas for small dogs and old dogs. (They have a Reds Fan Suite!). I loved the KI Pet Care because I knew my dog was safe, with his things in his own separate clean kennel, and we could take a break and have lunch with him, but the Red Dog looks promising, we'll just drive to dine with him. Shark, it was a nice little kennel, with good size space for each dog and tall separation fences between the dogs. It was always clean when I saw it. Once, I went to walk my dog, an attendant had just brought him in from walking him, she didn't need to do that, but she did. The employees knew we loved our dogs, and the AC was a godsend for my Scottie.

The park is renovating the Funnel Cake stand in order to decrease wait times in line. I believe that is why the park is renovating it, from what I remember them saying. Oh lovely! To be honest, I'm going to have to print up a shirt, "Just What I Wanted!" to wear to the park. The Funnel Cake line can be frustrating to the workers, who see hordes of people in front of them no matter how fast and well they work; Those who want a funnel cake and see a frustratingly long line; and then there's the people that simply are trying to cross into International Street and must barge through the cake waiters. This is a grand improvement.

Xlerator Hand Dryers Splatter Bacteria

Well, you've certainly given me an idea on how to chase away the neighborhood kids. -
I had gone into that outlet mall before. It was full of typical shops catering to overstock. It was a good place to buy summer clothes and tennis shoes, but overall, there were too many niche stores for my taste. At that age, I couldn't understand the need for a store that was nothing but candles. In my narcissism, the only items I can recall with clarity was in a rack of bridge set playing cards, many of which had my artwork on them. Bridge was SO on it's way out, but US Playing Cards kept plugging. My mother loved it, thought it was grand and had good deals. I was on an artists' wages, and let's be honest, anything over super-sale price was out of limits to me. I go through life making things that are out of my price bracket.

That is cool. Makes me wonder if I could paint a similar theme onto a tie. Yes. A hand painted tie. My niece in Toledo is broke, needs an Etsy idea, and we are bringing them back with a purpose. (I think the best KI gift is a season pass, personally.)

BUSCH PARKS: BLACKSTONE, now what?
Tanna replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes, but the PR would be perpetually glowing, and anyone attempting to use stock park footage in their film would be sued pantless. -
Mystery Object (Track, Supports, or something else?)

It's kind of sad to see the carcass of something that gave me so much fun just lying there, rusting. Might as well named it "Yorick". -
I love Gatlinburg. I'm glad you had a fun trip. I, too, wish to return there some day.

I never said it was the "end" of animation, I just said that right now the whole climate of the industry is different than it was back in the 80s/90s. Is this good or bad? I guess we'll find out. All I know is that studios are laying animators off or hiring them for temp positions (some of them anyway). And they can do this because there are so many animators now that they're happy to have the work. Yea but... (I use that way too much) that is how it is in almost all media fields. Newspapers, TV, News, etc. 20 years ago a news production staff was filled 8-10 or more people. Now you can run a whole production staff with 1 maybe 2 people. Animators are getting laid off, but the biggest difference between Pixar and say Dreamworks (or others) is the quality of the story. I dont think it has anything to do with animation. Ice Age 3 compared to Toy Story 3. The ability of the story to be told has more to do with the inability of a company to make money versus the art being used. You are right. The film business is very much like a factory, but it depends on if you want to make Rolls or a Yugo. What I've seen is that yes, computer animation is the norm now, but with that comes extra jobs to add to the experience of the film. People are now layering over the 3d animation with digital paint to get a more human feel to it. Zemeckis had his own 3d animation system, I forget what it was called, but I submit the name "Dead Eye, LTD." He was the one behind the creepy "Polar Express". That's what happens when you rely on computer animation alone without the added touches.

Ryan's Commentary: What was the best era for The World's Best Kids' Area?
Tanna replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I love the Flintstones, they floor me. They are funnier to me now then when I was young. All the men wear dresses and I just accepted it, along with the idea that there was blue fur to make a tie. -

I love the Hillbilly bears. Sometimes you can find eps on YouTube or Trilulilu. Paw Rugg reminds me of my brother in law. -

Friend's kids think the cartoons are made by the park. The color palette is great for kids, and the lines of the characters are simple. Does anyone remember having a kid guest that was unduly frightened by Captain Caveman? -
Voicetek, There's also compositing. That's putting it all together in editing after the shoot. That's a good field and takes talent. It's not the end of animation, it's the evolution. Superheros can't fly themselves, yaknow.

"Fresh Horses" 1988 movie filmed at Kings Island
Tanna replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
"Fresh Horses" is an awful movie, and I'm in it. I'm in the background during the White Castle scene filmed in Norwood. My dad and I love "Homebodies" He's a riffer- I recall vividly seeing the scene where they are all at the door, looking out at the bad guy through the glass, my dad says, "Hey, that one old guy's blind! Why's he looking out the window?" The whole film is littered with dadisms. -
I'm wondering how much the evolution of animation has to do with the need of studios and the decline. I have a friend that worked on Ren and Stimpy, he's now got a site for "Animation Resources", it's a fantastic collection that he generously shares with cartoonists. He works in an office building now, Cartoons are made desktop, by anyone. Ralph Bakshi and his son did his latest film, "Last Days of Coney Island" on their desktops, with Animation Studio Pro. Live action takes money, and space.

I posted the news article to my niece that is a nanny. She liked the idea, it would be much better for her charges tha Perfect North, as it is less expensive and closer. One of the boys is skittish about new things, so having a fimiliar area, where you can see KI from where they are, and a closer, more diverse area for tem to play in, would help.

PETA's protest this year about the Macy's float involves getting naked, painting themselves black and white, and piling into a bathtub in front of Macy's. Is taking off their clothes all these people know to do? How are they going to keep warm until they get to Macy's, wear the furs of all the shelter animals they've killed with their "no kill shale tear policy? They brain is divided in two for a reason, so we can have both empathy AND reason. These PETA persons rely solely on their emotional outrage.

I'd hope the families wouldn't be split up. What will happen to the sea rescue program, I wonder?
-
Oh yah- mid- eighties. For me, the 80's were like "All Tommorrow's Parties" without the tears. The only way I survived the club scene was due to thrift stores and a good sewing machine. I had a pair of capris pants made from curtains. Call me Scarlet.

Ryan's Commentary: What was the best era for The World's Best Kids' Area?
Tanna replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Of course I should say Hanna Babera Land, that's when I was a kid, but honestly, Planet Snoopy looks fantastic, and the kids look happy there. I found Nickelodeon to look too depressing, too grunge.
