Those necklaces are great souvenirs, and can be re-used when kids go trick or treating.

I like the glowing faces idea, but how could that be shockingly revealed? The actor wearing a dark cloth mask until the surprise? Or make like that Edward Mordrake and have the glowing face on the back of the head of the scareactor?

Thank you. Deramaxx left him blind and gave him hypothyroidism, so we ditched that, went to another vet, and now he's on Piroxicam. I will recommend Piroxicam in case other dog owners find themselves in the same situation of their dogs having cancer. I think for me taking a year off will make next year all the more exciting.

I took a total pass on KI this year. My Scottie dog developed TCC (Bladder Cancer) and I was more focused on that, and putting in windows low enough so he wouldn't have to jump on the window seat. I do enjoy reading what everyone else is doing at the park, and what's going on.

Scareactors seem weird in a ride where you use guns, even if they are fake. I recall adopting the 'hold your fire' quite a few times in the ride when they were inside. I couldn't even light a smoke with that gun- what was I thinking?

You and I use pretty much the same circuit- starting with Banshee, and working one's way around the park. Sounds like a sweet night.

Herschend opens Duck tours on Ohio River
Tanna replied to CoastersNSich's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I honestly have no interest. for me, and my personal experience, it's seems like taking a pontoon boat around Lake Cumberland. And the only people that owned pontoon boats in my area of Lake Cumberland were old people, so it was a slow boat driven even more slowly by the growing-older-by-the-second owners of said pontoon. Kids would be clawing at the dock not to be dragged onto the Pontoon Boat of Lost Time, while their parents are chirping, "Don't you want a boat ride?" Boat ride, yes, a floating old folks' home with naught but last night's storm trash floating by? NO! -
Seattle: Ride The Ducks/Bus Crash
Tanna replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
When I see a quote like this, "While there was no immediate word about the cause of the crash, some noted the safety of the amphibious boats has been questioned before." I sense that I'm being pulled to feel a certain way about these Duck Tour buses. To be honest, I'd never heard about them until ten minutes ago, when I logged onto KI, and was greeted with a multitude of posts concerning Duck Tours. Who are these "Some" who are 'Noted"? There is no immediate word what caused the crash- how about letting people hear the cause after it has been determined, without peppering the news with one's opinion? I'm not for or against these duck things- but I don't like a 'journalist' using 'some' to 'note' things. -
Worlds of Fun Ocean of Trouble
Tanna replied to Leland Wykoff's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
My goodness, but we had the same thought. It seems the modern wave of thinking is "If someone smiles, quash it." If these disposal actions are going on, and the water is being polluted, fine, it's fair. But are other companies along that river also being included? The Miami river, Great and Little, is recipient to a lot of goop from Dayton, but yet, it was only the DPL building that got targeted. It used coal. -

Fight inside Carowinds Halloween Haunt
Tanna replied to RollerNut's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The event brings in a lot of money, so it's highly unlikely the park will start restricting certain age groups, etc.. It would be the consumer who doesn't attend due to the atmosphere that will have to decide the nature of the venue. I used to go two nights, then down to one. Last year I went to the daytime event. This year I doubt if I'll be going. It's not the workers or the Scaractors, it's the patrons. Last year during the daytime event, we stayed long enough to see the Haunt begin. And the creepiest thing were the patrons. My cousin said to me, "It's getting a little sketchy around here, isn't it?" And I wouldn't not have even minded, if it weren't for the fact we had two elementary school age children in line with us. I know this event is geared towards the type of person who appreciates darker things, but it started to feel real carny, real fast. And the monsters weren't even in place, yet. -
It always seemed clammy inside the ride. People came in from the heat of the day, usually with kids grabbing the adult as they rode. The body heat combined with a cool, enclosed building wasn't the most refreshing thing, as there was cool air beyond the gondola, but it wasn't refreshing, like the Coke mists. It had the ozone/fear smell in it anyway; of machines working mixed with human odor. Classic theme park smell. (Of course, except for the Mummy, that went beyond human.) The cartoony look of the ghosts helped, but I think as kids expected it to be frightening, they would get scared, and radiate heat the same as we would after a vivid nightmare, and cling to the adult. Plus, when riding, as they were expecting frights, they would crane around, trying to see as far behind them as could, given that the gondola was canopied. They would pull you with them as they tried to look. It wasn't the most comfortable ride in KI, but the kids liked it enough to return to it. As they got older, especially after they'd seen me make monsters, they looked at the artwork and effects more.

Little Sears-Roebuck mail order cottages would fix that mall problem. This I know. But the cottages have to be put together by crews of men who haven't picked up a hammer since high school. There can be no wall straight enough to only need one layer of joint compound. (And I'm sure Terp is the only one that will get this joke.)

Wait- I just heard about this Disney Springs and had to look it up. Basically they are building a.... Chautauqua?

Well, then, I guess we'll see you when the moon is full.

Now I remember the Pepper's Ghost scene. It had been so long since I've recalled Phantom Theatre. I do recall that when the mummy(?) leaned out towards the car, there was a putrid odor that made me actually dour, thinking I'd have to check the kid next to me for soilment when we got out of the ride.

Metaphor for SeaWorld?
Tanna replied to Leland Wykoff's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That's a good point of view. I originally watched Blackfish, and walked away confused in my desire to actually see this park. A little research, and I had found that a lot of the footage was from the park, the videographers of said footage wanted to present a park they wanted me to go to. It takes a lot of reading both sides to start forming an intelligent opinion, especially on the subject of animals. I'm still looking into subject, even Corky's 50th birthday party. That being said, I must admit, I still want a plush Shamu. -
I've never had a paranormal experience in the park, or, if I had, I dismissed it due to the atmosphere. I've never heard of the Weight/Smith incident before.

Cheetah Escapes at Indy Zoo
Tanna replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
So its not like in China, where it's a man in a cartoony Cheetah suit taking the Souvenir Stand Girl hostage and the keepers dance around them with a net? -
My replacement was free, but I didn't need a police report. The policeman was standing right there next to me.

I had heard- no doubt now it sounds like Dip Dottin- that the smell of AE came from the drainage ditch of a concession that sold ice cream: that the melted goo leftovers would swamp in the drain nearby and spoil.

Gravitron at Keansburg Park catches fire
Tanna replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I looked at POVS, and wondered, "So when does the ride start?" When it was already going, as I expected to see the illusion of the RO spin as the ride spun around him. Nope. He was riding right along with him. People are sliding up the walls and posing, but from inside the ride, it looked as if it were still. -
Frisch's Big Boy: What Up?
Tanna replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Last time I went to Frisch's the tiny hamburger didn't even reach to any side of the bun, the burger was put together sloppily, and that was enough. Agree that the price doesn't justify going there, especially if they are going to be so skimpy. The Big Boys I went to as kid had the car side service. That was one of the special things about Frisch's. Burger King and DQ also used the quarter sized burger ploy. They, too, are off my list. Don't play customers for fools, and maybe you'll get repeat business, yah? We go to Steak and Shake now. -
Gravitron at Keansburg Park catches fire
Tanna replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
From POV videos, I have noted that the ride operator is in there, WITH THEM! Spinning on the central axis. Would this not cause problems after a few cycles?
