  1. I thought it was strange that they closed the one in Plaza Del Carnaval, and kept the other two open. One near the fountain and the other one near Nitro that are only a few minutes away from each other. Yah, it's a good consistant sandwich at a good price. I like it for that. Terp, thanks for the clarification, I thought all of CF was going out of contract.
  2. I liked Chick-Fil_A in the park, it was a reasonable size dinner for me, and I liked where it was in the park. I don't eat a lot, and usually only eat once per visit. I go to the park to do stuff, not sit around noshing. Other restaurants have gone, and I just found something else, though. There's a ton of Chick-Fil-A's in the great big open world. I wonder if there will be another restaurant in it's place next summer? Can they still use the building?
  3. Oh. Well, I don't want to get drunk. The combo of sightless coaster and possibly mismatched visual effects add to the spew factor enough as it is.
  4. And that brought to my mind the idea of rider awareness. If a tree branch falls on the track, I'd like to see it to brace for collision.
  5. That's what we do, too. Other people go to Applebee's or a bar, we go to KI for dinner. It's a great night out, and breaks the monotony of the week. (I do wish KI would consider a Frisch's, though.)
  6. We are a bit spoiled, aren't we, with KI? My first thought was "I like real, I like going through the trees on The Beast." But time and time again, I've seen roller coasters on YouTube that are smack in the middle of concrete, even Gatekeeper loomes over a parking lot. I'm being snooty about the VR rides because of that. Also, I was a little creeped out about wearing goggles that just came off of the head of someone else.
  7. I wish you could have, too. The closest I've seen is the depiction in "Adventureland", and I believe they used Kennywood as the set. Of course, it wouldn't be as immersive as actually going to to the park to achieve the small park affect.
  8. But think of all the politicians that wouldn't be able to afford Disney vacations if that happened!
  9. That's an incredible artwork.
  10. We used to foolishly stick our legs out straight in front of us, with the 5 year old thinking that if the gondola should fall, we won't break our legs. Boddha is correct, it was a great place to go for general entertainment, which is probably where the memories of being unsupervised come from. We didn't rush from ride to ride, we meandered around more- except for the "Fasssinaytion" parlor. The old ladies scared me.
  11. At one point, the was the poor man's alternative to nothing at all. It was the only park around save for Fantasy Farm next door. I have distinct memories of that park. I was particularly fond of Tombstone Territory, and loved the real glass mugs I got as free souvenirs. I'm seeing a lot of people remembering walking around unsupervised, and that was one of my biggest memories, too.
  12. I only live thirty miles away. I've always worked at least full time. I always went in the evening when my work wrapped early, and just spent a few hours. I usually went weeknights. Having a pass meant it any trip to KI, no matter how short, was a plus. Once we went, and hit all the rides in a row, snap, snap snap, in an hour.
  13. Yes, park admission and sundries. The campground lot can accomadate a lot! of people, but it was only the one price when I was there, and I suspect it's the same now. (and I mean a lot of people. My entire youth was spent being reffered to by others as a gypsy, we lived in camps in a pack.) I can relate to Terp's memories of his youth, I came from working class, and honestly, woke up one morning to a Disney trip that I'd never even thought about before. I thought Disney was for 'other people'. To this day I wonder how much of my good fortune was due to my dad's wiring of the cabinet to Tom Sawyer's Island. I never felt rueful about not going to Disney before, the same as I never felt rueful for not going to the moon, but when I got there, I took mental photographs of Everything.
  14. Using the campgrounds for nostalgic reasons, plus I liked that I could go to a more quiet area after all the buzz of the park (besides the fact that Chip and Dale woke me up after I crashed on a blanket in the drive in.), I can go there next week for four days without breaking my bank. I'm not bragging about my financial situation, I'm a working class slob, and I like my job, but the prices are doable. But- keep in mind there would be just two of us. A family of 4 or 5 might be put in a bind. I don't think I'm going to rush and book a trip though.
  15. Disney World is the one in Florida, yes? Do they still have the campground? We stayed there in '77. It was really nice. I took off on my own every day to the park, so I could see everything at my own pace. Families handed me so many E tickets, I split them with my brother and sister and we still got on all the E rides when we finally went together. It was very nice, and helped me decide what I wanted to do for a living, but I've never felt the desire to return. I agree with shark, it's doable if I so desired, I don't feel crunched out of going, it's just that I enjoy doing other things more.
  16. I can't look at a picture of the Ghostbusters without thinking of my old boiler suit I wore at a costume factory. I still turn and look when I hear the name "Venkman".
  17. I agree. One should try it. You might like it very much.I'm very small, and 52 years old, so my experience would be vastly different than a 6' tall 20 year old's experience. I disliked it strongly, due to my own fears. I held myself against the back of the chair with my arms the entire time, hoping the plate in my wrist wouldn't slip. I didnt think of leaning down on the restraints. I felt that if I did, I could slip, out. That man I married had the shin conundrum, he didn't like it either. My 20 year old neice loves it, and rides it every visit, though we are the same size.
  18. You and I both- always wanted to go to the Black Forest and study the woodcarvings.
  19. Well, there goes my pop's placard, with Tom Sawyer Island.
  20. You're not the only one, Pez. I thought this went out after Lancelot Link quit filming.
  21. The tank expansion is on hold?
  22. In looking at the old online catalogues of dark ride gags, i was surprised how much I remembered from Lesourdsville's dark rides. There's something about three dimensional figures that leaves a more lasting impression. I can recall a figure on a ride from when i was eight years old, but i honestly can't place too many gags and props from Boo Blasters.
  23. double post- sorry.
