  1. I hate amateur POVS. It's like Blair Witch, only worse, if possible. And always some idiot with his 'witty' commentary. I'm glad that they are releasing a good HD POV from the park. I'm still trying to sell my niece on riding it.
  2. That ride is a postcard waiting to happen, from a lot of different angles in the park. There's going to be a ton of off ride photos.
  3. CoasterOhio, When old as me you are, on Opening Day you take off work to go.
  4. I am old. Oblige me.
  5. Truly a poor decision, KI is a great place to work. My mom and I were reminiscing tonight about our time working at the park, it was hard work, but it set the watermark for great jobs.Only four days away- I don't recall if I've ever been so hepped for my first day of the season as this one. I'll probably not wait in line for Banshee, but I sure want to see the faces of the riders as they exit.
  6. They aren't, however, changing any of the recommendations of the OSHA person that palled around with the Blackfish movie posse. http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/11/us/seaworld-ruling/index.html
  7. Thanks for the news. I 've been trying to follow the Russian marine captures, but as you post shows, it's not easy.
  8. Yes there is. That's not the kind of eye-roll I'm thinking of- the one you posted is too happy. This particular image I'm thinking is a cross between a run-of-the-mill eye-roll, face palm, and a sigh... That's why God made Patrick Stewart. And with the 50th Anniversary Celebration, of course- there are contests. Wish Stinky and I luck! I already have a petsitter lined up, just in case.
  9. Medford, When I first heard they were switching to Peanuts from Nickelodeon, my first thought was that I couldn't think of a pre-schooler alive that would know what a Peanut was, but seeing the way kids react to the characters, they like them very much. The mascots aren't for me, they are for the kids, and the kids like them. It could be that the mascots ARE kids, in kid friendly colors. The only odd thing is now with younger relatives, they identify the seasonal cartoons featuring the Peanuts with CF, not the other way around, as if KI put out the cartoons for their entertainment. The trailer has the same coloring and 3d look as the mascots- this will be fun for a lot of Planet Snoopy kids.
  10. Mansfield has a festival celebrating its fantastic carousel. Just to see all the different animals is amazing, and you can watch the carvers make new ones.
  11. The one in the middle of Coney, I'll admit, is just awful. We smokers might as well form a snake chain and parade all up and down the mall, puffing in peoples' faces. There's enough nooks and crannies in the park where there doesn't need to be a smoking section smack dab in the middle of everything.
  12. Indyguy4Ki, As long as it's not too small to be trod upon, ala Spinal Tap.
  13. You apparently have not had a relative who can walk a little ways, but not very well or far. Who won't let you buy her a wheelchair until she was near death. Who was too proud to be seen being wheeled into or out of the park. I hope you never do. I did. I wish I still did. I wish my parents would consent to a little help. There's so much at the park that they would really enjoy, but always decline the invitation due to walking limitations, but the idea of a wheelchair is appalling to them, for no reason other than pride.
  14. NatGeo channel is now showing how they built the new penguin habitat and ride.
  15. I suspect they were joking, Delirium2018. Maybe it will be a stand for CHILL drinks.
  16. It didn't mean that his daughter couldn't ride, and by being turned away, he could eventually watch her graduate some day. I can understand he was disappointed, but if he could not hold himself in, his last vision would be his daughter watching him fall.
  17. Thanks for the info, and that's if the boats had 20 people per, but we all know that some special snowflakes in the world would need their own party boat, because the whales love them more,well,....simply because. I don't even want to attempt to digitally manipulate a photograph depicting a day in Puget Sound with those figures. edit: trademark violation
  18. Does anyone have an estimate of how many patrons attend Seaworld every day? No particular reason, besides my trying to imagine that many boats on the water, chasing after one whale.
  19. And that's what's scary to me- it's a huge ride, it'll be like riding in a biplane, with no plane around you.
  20. It's a hideous, bland poster, that only hits at one park, the zoo is safe. If they move the orcas to the zoo, would that change things for them? In the news, frat boys broke into Seaworld in Texas, which proved a smart move for Daniel Dukes.
  21. As was mentioned, there are a lot of season pass holders here. I like to switch out activities in the park. One day nothing but Coney Island, another day nothing but coasters. There's days I just want to walk around and take in things, like watching shows.
  22. Huh. That's exactly what I was thinking. This isn't going to be Ed Sullivan Plate Spinners, like an average acrobatic show. I didn't find Ed Alonzo's show boring, and I was never one to go to a magic show.
  23. I got a pass for Kings Island, and now it seems I'm going to walk into a whole new park. These transformations are amazing considering the economy.
  24. That's my grouse with this whole circus- with PETA involved, if they get their way with this one small step, it's onto the next goal of letting cockroaches run rampent in our homes. PETA has a reputation of not having its' collective head on straight. I fear a No Kill shelter for the whales if they are freed, for then we'll find all of the orcas in back alley dumpsters. I wish Shamu cam was up and running, but from what I've been told, acrivists made a mockery of it with screencaps and anthropomorphic interpretations of the whales' behaviour. A shame, really.
  25. Ha! I was right! She's just sour that she can't have her own whale. It's probably just me, but I find the whales just playing to be a good show. If I end up going to California to see the whales, I'll have to frown the entire time I'm watching them play, just so any politicians watching can be sure I'm not entertained. Couldn't their interacting with humans and communicating through interpretive dance be considered educational? They can't just float around in a pool the rest of their lives, like the article says, they have brains. I'd noted that New Zealand incident, I did find it odd that in the wild, the whale was just 'playing'. A captive whale doing the same thing is a psychological break. Comments in the article suggest tug boating out to Puget Sound to see the whales. Imagine a days worth of Seaworld patrons tooling out into the water to view these whales in the wild- my first reaction is "Pee-yoo" to all the pollution. It's a sick little trendy mess. Some actor I completely forgot the name of twittered that he saw a kid with a Shamu toy on his plane ride, and wanted to punch the mom. Keep it classy, I always say.
