Coming from a 15 year old, I blame the fact that parents of today let their kids be raised by television and video games. There's no one-on-one time with kids anymore, and I think this is going to get worse as my generation starts having kids with the embedded attitude that parents don't have to raise their kids properly. This makes me glad I live in a rural area, and intend to do so for a LONG time.

^ It makes you wonder HOW those things get up there... Do people go on the ride with the intent of improving the collection of trash on the roof? Pretty soon, there will be people saying "Why do those glasses look so funny?" "Oh that's just the style of sunglasses that was popular when I was your age." It's going to be a museum of "trash from the past"

Great TR! This makes me want to get back even more.

With the exception of 2009 and 2005 there has been an Inverted Coaster built by B&M every year since the first. It's still their most popular model. I wouldn't be shocked if King's Island's next coaster is a B&M, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it in Flight Deck's/Son of Beast's current location.

^ I have to say that I wouldn't be a fan of not getting a choice where to sit on Magnum XL200. I like the way some stations have it set up that you can't enter the station until it clears out, but you're still allowed to choose your seat once you enter (Wicked Twister). It improves capacity and makes finding a seat easier.

There's all kinds of things on the roof that covers the final brake run on The Beast... I've been watching the same pair of sunglasses for months now.

Goliath looks like airtime heaven! Great pictures again.

Great TR! Beautiful shots of Patriot!

^ I'm also one to hope that MaXair doesn't get this way when it reaches Delerium's age.
-
^ Doesn't sound good at all! Hopefully they get Delerium sobered up before the season ends.

Yeah they tell you where to sit when riding Firehawk. They also hold the line back from the ride so it looks like the line is a lot longer than it actually is, although it might as well be anyway since it moves as slow as a slug! Firehawk, BLSC, and Diamondback are where you'll be assigned. Firehawk it doesn't make a difference, not sure about BLSC, but with Diamondback I'd ask for the front seat.

Rides on Magnum XL200 can also be changed based on where you sit. If you sat in 1:2 or 2:2 in 1995, then that would explain why it seems rougher now. 1:3 and 7:3 give the roughest rides (to me at least). From what I understand, Arrow Coasters have always been rough. Looking at old footage of Arrow Loopers, there was just as much headbanging then as there is now.

Did you forget Aquatrax? Did you forget that was tweeted? And CP was throwing out clues just to mess with people at that point. You all want a coaster so you make yourself think it will be. I don't know, the evidence is pointing at a coaster at the moment. You can't take everything that Dick Kinzel says by heart. Again, he said that the 2010 addiction "Won't get you wet." Either way, there are markings in that area and flags around Ocean Motion that extend out into the beach. I say that there's a 70% chance for a new coaster in 2011. EDIT: Anyone Hungry? http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/2010/7/21/Who%27s_hungry%3F.cfm

I don't see how a new coaster doesn't appeal to teens. Just because Dick Kinzel said that there's more to thrill rides than roller coasters doesn't mean that it won't be a coaster. If I'm correct, he said that the new 2010 ride "won't get you wet." Of course he meant that "It won't get you wet, it will get you soaked." It could very well be another one of those statements where he means the complete opposite of what he says... ...Look at the times he's said that he will retire, yet it doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon.

http://img62.imagesh...2/imag0042r.jpg http://img267.images...0/imag0041y.jpg http://coasterbuzz.c....aspx?id=812427 (I saw links to these pictures on pointbuzz.com, I didn't take these pictures, and I'm not claiming ownership) I don't know if anyone has seen these pictures, but these flags extend from Ocean Motion all the way out to the beach. I'm going to continue to doubt that this is a flat ride, especially after seeing these. Along with this, does it strike anyone else as odd that Cedar Point would announce a flat ride as early as August? I don't know, just throwing this out there. Does anyone have any info on The Prowler or Renegade and when construction on those coasters began? The early announcement, the flags, the promise of a ride for thrill seekers, and a nostalgic ride, I'm going to put my money on a GCI Woodie themed after the Cedar Point Cyclone.

Are you asking if getting history facts correct? If yes, then it does matter. I changed the post from "a long period" to "a period". For some reason I was under the impression that after Cyclone closed there wasn't another coaster until 1964. Fixed it.
-
If you are not talking before 1892, what dates are you talking about? 2:28 "By the 1950s it was hard to find much evidence of Cedar Point's glory years. The Cyclone roller coaster was gone, leaving Cedar Point without any coaster at all."

I don't see why you would get in trouble for kissing on Boo Blasters. I really don't. It isn't obscene, gross, or anything that children haven't seen before.

And the Prowler cost even less than Wicked Twister

In my opinion, the economy is far from recovery. FUN reached a peak of 28.87 in 2007, and now some people are looking at 13.13 as if it's an amazing gain. Granted that may be better than the 6.85 or whatever it was at, it still isn't up to the amount that the CEO should take a sigh of relief. The economy won't recover until businesses can prosper, and there was a time several years ago when running a small business was a lot easier than it is now. If I'm correct, more than 50% of the people employed 10 years ago were employed by a small business. Now small businesses are failing, and the unemployment is a reflection of that, no matter how many jobs the government will try to artificially create. The economic situation in this country is awful. As for gas prices, everything really depends on what will happen in the future (how OPEC is treated, how we can support ourselves either by drilling ourselves or developing green technology or BOTH). It's impossible to say how high gas will go, whether it is to stay, drop, or raise to prices far beyond $4.

^ In their Golden Era they were probably, if not definitely, the coaster capital of the world, and you could argue that it remained until recently. The Racer, Thunderbolt, and Jack Rabbit are all some of the best examples of classic wooden coasters, and that's not mentioning the other coasters that could have been operating around the same time (not too familiar with Kennywood history). Here's what my thoughts are on Kennywood vs Cedar Point - There was a period where Cedar Point didn't have ANY coasters, and that was after it's first golden age. Kennywood added Steel Phantom which was obviously built to compete with Magnum XL200. In my opinion it was the additions over the course of the 1990s that gave Cedar Point the image of the number 1 amusement park in the eyes of the general public, and Millennium Force sealed it at the end of the decade.
-
I don't ride it because I've experienced it before, and I didn't like what I experienced. Experience it for yourself! In my opinion it isn't any rougher than Son of Beast, if not less. However it IS the roughest ride at Cedar Point, at least to me. I'll sit here all day and talk about how rough it is, but I still recommend you give it a spin to form your own opinion. I know quite a few people who enjoy the ride and stay it's underrated. With that being said I WOULD recommend riding up front.

Just throwing this out there as this is a thread about seats we prefer... I like 5:1 on Vortex, but I'm fine with any -:1 seats. Any of the -:2 seats are intolerably uncomfortable in my opinion. It isn't the headbanging or the roughness that gets me on that coaster, it's how cramped your legs feel. Every time I've ridden in an even numbered row I've gotten sore knees. Ouch.

My bad! Haven't been on it in a couple seasons...
