  1. Waiting for the park to open Monday morning. The next few shots are just Millennium Force from the line... no captions are required
  2. Instead of going through the details, I'll just mention a few things then I'll post pictures! - If anyone hasn't explored the Lake Eerie islands it's worth it! - Raptor isn't that great in the back seat, but sitting in the front seat is an example of why I love B&M Coasters. - We rode Millennium Force in the front seat for the first time. We've ridden it countless times before, but sitting in the front seat for the first time is almost religious experience for coaster fans. The back seat gives GREAT airtime down the first hill and over the other three hills, but the rest of the ride is dull in that seat. - Shoot the Rapids looks great! They didn't take out as many trees as I thought they would. - I didn't think Maverick was great last year or the year before, but I loved it this year! Sitting in the back of the train is a LOT of fun. Great ejector air down the first hill and the other airtime hills. - Up until this trip I never understood the fascination with Magnum. After rides in 1:2, 4:2, and 6:1 I understand completely. Smoother than I remember and AWESOME ejector air on the bunny hill run. I think I might like it even more than Diamondback. - Wildcat and Corkscrew were both running smoother than I remember. - In my opinion, Blue Streak is a better ride than The Racer. With that being said, both rides could benefit from a fresh coat of paint. I hope Cedar Fair takes note of this soon. - MaXair seems to last longer than Delirium. Can anyone back me up on this? - This was the first time we bothered to visit the park again in the evening, and I loved the park at sunset. The neon lights on the main midway screams 1950s like nothing else. For my ride stats see my signature. From Shoreline Drive #1 Steel Coaster? I think so. Maybe this will change when I ride Intimidator 305... Maverick from the Jet Express boat Same Millennium Force from the Jet Express boat Double Intamin shot Magnum XL200 from Jet Express Boat We hit a storm on the way back to Sandusky (Cedar Point LOOKED EVEN MORE AWESOME IN PERSON THAN IT DOES HERE!) Again... The weather channel said that it was going to rain Monday morning... it didn't! We arrived to an empty parking lot! Empty.... I think we got a good parking spot For the sake of time I'll post the rest in a couple hours. I don't trust my computer to not screw up...
  3. The are putting back the loop on the SOB? AWESOME! Can not wait to tell everyone and WIKI it. The Dippin' Dots guy told me. He also told me they would be putting one of the loops from The Vortex on the regular Beast. (not really) That really depends. If they continue to spend like they are now, then yes, they probably will. If they make some changes, then it's hard to say. It also depends on the way the economy spins. People in the media seem to think that the economic problems are over... I'm not too sure.
  4. When we visited on bring a friend day, we brought along one of my dad's friends. He brought along his son who just hit the 54 mark. The first ride we went on was Invertago, and it beat him up. Since I was facing him, it looked as if he wasn't tall enough to support himself from banging his head around. Vortex was the other ride he had trouble on. Any ride with OTSR seemed to bang him around, but any ride with just a lapbar was no problem.
  5. I would recommend doing just the opposite. If you do upgrade your passes, then you can get in an hour early for ERT. Ride the ERT rides. Right before the park opens, run to Top Thrill Dragster if it is running. After Dragster, hit the back of the park and work your way to the front. When the gates open to the GP, the guest will stay at the front of the park and ride Raptor, Wicked Twister, MaXair, Millennium Force, and Top Thrill Dragster. Meanwhile the back of the park will remain empty. Work your way towards the front of the park. As you do this, the GP will work its way to the back.
  6. My dad repairs miscellaneous machinery for a living, and he says that ice machines are the among most unreliable equipment you could imagine. I don't doubt that pop is hard to serve.
  7. Closed? It's much more than closed.... Well yeah I know that, they're not gonna even have the ride anymore. They're relocating it to Knott's Berry Farm. I knew that... Actually, Demon Drop- though rumored to make its way to KBF (and later Michigan's Adventure)- was sent to Dorney Park, where it is currently awaiting completion of testing. Oh..... I need get my facts straight more often . Anyway, why did Cedar Fair relocate Demon Drop? It's a secret Rumors of a wooden coaster in the area extending into the employee parking lot out to the beach seem to be really popular considering Cedar Fair's liking for GCI. Many believe this to be a fact, but many believe it to be a false hope. Some say that it will be a compact Intamin coaster, like a Zac Spin. Many doubt this, because Cedar Point is very strict about capacity. Others have suggested a new, unique, one-of-a-kind flat ride. I think that the odds of it being a coaster are pretty likely. Kinzel has said that Cedar Point will get most of Cedar Fair's financial investments within the next few years, and he has also said that he plans on keeping Cedar Point the park with the most roller coasters. With that being said, Cedar Fair seems to really be keeping it a secret. Whatever it is, they've been planning it for a long time. Demon Drop's been for sale for a long time, and if I'm correct, it was for sale before Maverick opened. That would make sense, since Maverick was planned before Top Thrill Dragster opened. There's more going on at Cedar Point than people think. I think there's another topic for this, and there's a lot more information in it than I have said here.
  8. "An important thing to remember is that we haven't reached the limits of height and speed, but acceleration has reached its peak." - Werner Stengel Son of Beast injured people do to poor construction. If the ride was built better it would still be running without any problems. Thrill Rides are built with safety as the number one priority. As others have said, Formula Rossa doesn't reach any higher than 2 (3?) Gs, that's about the same as what you experience on The Racer. It's true that roller coasters aren't necessary for an economy, but people still spend their money on entertainment and travel. It's true that vacation and tourism has declined in the past few years, but that's to be expected. Many parks, like Cedar Point, rely on appeal to stay open. Why put in the standard kiddie and family rides you can find at any neighborhood park when you can build something worth traveling too? Parks like King's Island are located near/in large cities. Here at KI we have Cincinnati, Dayton, Louisville... At Cedar Point they have Sandusky and Toledo. So Cedar Point is obviously more bent on building rides which will spark national attention. Then you have a park like Holiday World, which is a traditional, local park that has attracted itself attention by building the Voyage. Spending money to make money has never been more true than it is now in the amusement park business. If you don't build anything... they won't come.
  9. Get Millennium Force and Maverick out of the way during ERT. An hour will give you enough time to get your fill with multiple rides on each. I recommend skipping past Raptor until later in the day since it can get less crowded then. Right before the gates open to the general public, head towards Top Thrill Dragster to beat them. After you've handled those three, the park will be open. At this point, the general public will be getting their fill of the rides near the front of the park. At this time, ride all the rides in Frontier Town. Over the course of the day, work your way to the front of the park. As you do, the general public will work their way towards the back. You may get some long lines around lunch, but eat around that time. Later in the evening the park can be far less crowded than before. This is where you can get your full price of your admission in. Major attractions will have 20 minute waits, smaller ones will be almost walk ons. Like Terpy said, July is a very crowded time, but better weekdays than weekends. Weather won't make a huge difference on crowds. I recommend skipping Soak City. It isn't worth the separate admission. With the exception of a Wave Pool, like 4 slides, and 2 lazy rivers, there's nothing but hot pavement.
  10. In thrill seekers I was trying to find a Diamondback shirt (I wear large) but all that was there was XL and one Medium. We were lucky to find a large near the back.
  11. I was the one who noticed and told the opts to E-Stop the ride. Good thing too. Going into a lockout area while the ride is in motion is never a good thing. So what exactly happened? I saw the two girls run down the single rider line (I was on the train), the ride op told the others to call security, then I saw the girls get escorted out. People said that they were trying to get the shoe that was right under where the lift hill starts, but people say a lot of things.
  12. Instead of giving every last detail of what happened today, I will give my ride count and point out some things I noticed. Diamondback x2 Beast x2 Invertago x1 Flight Deck x1 Racer x1 Dodgems x1 White Water Canyon x1 - The Beast seems to be experiencing some problems. Every time I've visited it's either been shut down all day or shut down for a portion of the day. Today it broke down around 10 (we were sitting on the brake run), and around 1 or 2 the train was stuck on the lift hill. When I think of wooden coasters, I usually think of high reliability. Can anyone shed any light on what's been going on with The Beast this season? - This day seemed to be significantly less crowded than this year's previous bring a friend day. - Even though the park recieves higher crowds this time of year, the park remains spotless. Props to the sweeps. - Outer Hanks is my new favorite place to eat in the park with the exception of the buffet in Rivertown. The prices may be terrible, but the food isn't that bad. - There was an unbelievable amount of stupid people in the park today. While in line for Diamondback, two girls were trying to get a shoe out of the net above the line. Security was called and (I assume) they were removed from the park. - Both sides of The Racer were running.
  13. I saw a two people smoking a joint in the exit of White Water Canyon... I saw a couple of girls trying to get their shoe or something from the net of Diamondback (the one right over the queue) Security was called and the ride was shut down... Both happened today.
  14. If I'm correct, way back in the day it was thought that the human body couldn't withstand speeds of 30 mph or it would collapse into itself or something really ridiculous like that. I don't know where I heard it, but it obviously isn't true! haha That shows that technology is possible of anything. Drag cars go 350 mph, so who says a coaster can't go 170 mph or 180 mph? Anything's possible, and the sky's the limit (literally).
  15. The Beast... duh! Delirium... I love these rides. This and MaXair are my favorite flats! Relaxing, thrilling, and fun all at the same time. White Water Canyon... RFYLCB has more of a personal attachment to me since I can remember riding it a LONG time ago, but what puts WWC in front of the other two is the fact that it's back in the woods. River Rapid rides are my favorite water rides, but I'm not a big fan of water rides anyway.
  16. I've heard great things about King's Dominion. Visiting there for a couple of days will give you a good opportunity to visit the East Coast. If you really want to make use of your Platinum Pass then Carowinds isn't very far away.
  17. Up until I was seven or eight the only coasters I would ride was Adventure Express and (then called) The Beastie. You would be lucky to get me to ride The Racer! Then in 2004 when I was seven or eight I rode The Beast. I can remember how nervous I was. My dad insisted that it wasn't much, so I rode. I got off thinking that it was the roughest thing in the world, but that opinion's changed since! To this day my first ride on The Beast is the moment that changed my opinion of big rides. Within the next few years we started making trips to Cedar Point, and now I'm addicted!
  18. I prefer the Blue since it seems slightly smoother to me. Might just be my imagination, but I've had more good rides on it than the Red side. However, the Red Side usually wins more. (From what I've seen)
  19. If it wasn't for the fact that there's a huge defunct woodie sitting at the side, then Action Zone would look great! After that, all Action Zone would need is a quick power-washing and some paint. Coney Mall is what needs the attention. Bring back some of the classic flats now gone! PAINT The Racer!
  20. Boomerang Bay is a LOT better than Soak City. Both are in need of updates, though.
  21. We will be taking our annual Cedar Point trip within the next few weeks. I was curious as to whether or not the problem with season passes scanning has been fixed. I know that earlier in the year there were problems with Platinum Passes scanning at other parks, including King's Island passes not scanning at Cedar Point. Has anyone made any recent trips to Cedar Point and used their King's Island pass with ease?
  22. Yes/Yes/Screaming Swing I could see it being the next expansion. I don't see it happening all in one season, and I don't seeing it happen within the next 3 years, but it will happen eventually. I vote for a Screaming Swing since it's something different than what the park already has.
  23. I think they just got rid of a troll member and his postings... good riddance. Sounds like you got a good fill of Magnum on your trip! Riding Magnum is a lot of fun at night. Remember that about half the people (if not more) going to Cedar Point stay in a resort. And a lot of the locals that aren't staying in a resort carry passes, so it can feel like the park is packed even during ERT.
  24. You do realize that what was Italian Job Stunt Track is a clone, there's an exact same ride at Kings Dominion and Canada's Wonderland? And Paramount also put in Face/Off, which is a standard model of which there have been many others. Oh, and Flight of Fear is a standard Mad Cobra from Premier, one of many. So what are you trying to prove that Diamondback is just like Goliath? Paramount did the exact same thing. Not to mention Nickelodeon Universe with Runaway Reptar and Drop Zone. Heck, they even installed Vortex (Canada's Wonderland) and Top Gun around the same time. I believe Tomb Raider was installed in several of their parks... The only original coaster or thrill ride that Paramount put in was Son of Beast, and that went over well. Cedar Fair may stick to several types of models, but they keep a valid rotation. If a park doesn't have a hyper coaster, they install one (Carowinds). If the park already has a hyper coaster, they install a GCI Woodie (ValleyFair and Worlds of Fun). All are valid upgrades, and Cedar Fair rarely (if ever) installs clones throughout their chain. Six Flags and Paramount can't say the same.
  25. I know. Terrible. I would much rather wait in line with all the switchbacks filled. Nah The brakes under the roof have always been there. You can thank Paramount for the brakes on the drop before the helix. If I'm correct, Paramount also tampered with the angling of the helix to make it a "less intense" experience. Amen
