I'm excited for it. It isn't going to be the best ride that Kings Island has ever had, but it's nice to see a flat ride like it at Coney Mall. I won't be there opening day, but I usually go the weekend after. It's my favorite time of year to go (perfect crowds, temperature, ect). After making up for lost time on The Beast and Diamondback (ERT) I'll be waiting for the ropes to drop by The Beast. It will probably be my third ride that day. EDIT: As for a Screaming Swing, I've never been the biggest fan of Skyhawk. I rode it opening year and the year after but after that you could take or leave the ride without me caring too much. To me there just isn't that much to be exited about. It's essentially a pirate ride on a sugar high... I prefer Giant Frisbees since they do more than just swing, and they last a lot longer. I think that this new ride will be the perfect addition to both Cedar Point and Kings Island.

Great to see a great flat ride at Kings Island! Now we can say that we have 3 world class "modern" flat rides. I don't know what I have to say about the location. I can see this going right next to the theater, but I hope they don't remove too many trees while they do this project. Frankly, I'm surprised that this isn't in X-base. The fact that it isn't makes me think that Cedar Fair isn't very interested in expanding onto that area. As far as Cedar Point's is concerned, I think it's in a great location. Right by the beach off of the midway is the perfect spot for a ride like it. Now we can get an extended look at Sandusky and Lake Eerie from up high without speeding at 93 or 120 mph! Am I disappointed that Cedar Point didn't get a new coaster? Yes. Am I happy with the new ride(s)? Yes. Did it brighten up my week when I learned that Kings Island is getting a new ride? Absolutely.

I doubt a new coaster. With a new coaster taller than Diamondback they would have made a big deal about it at this point. I'm assuming it's a flat because Cedar Fair doesn't tend to build those up for months and months like they do coasters. I'm on the side of people who think it's going to be a wind seeker or whatever it's called. I think that these rides look like good flats, and if they end up putting it in Action Zone it could bring some new "zing" back to the area. Perhaps this will mean that they finally do something with SOB. I could also see it in X-base, but we'll find out in a matter of hours so there's no point in speculating... EDIT: sorry if this post didn't make any sense I haven't had any coffee yet. EDIT 2: I just looked at Cedar Point's blog and it looks like they are still pushing the starflyer/WindSeeker idea there, too. They posted a picture of the Wicked Twister midway as well as a note that said "The announcement will be posted today on facebook at 2 o'clock. Be there or be round... yes, round"

I wonder what the woodie would be. Perhaps it's an Intamin prefab? The hyper is obviously meant to look like a B&M. Liking the ferris wheel and the giant frisbee.

Wow... here we were talking about Cedar Point's new ride and not even thinking about Kings Island. I think that most of us could agree that a week ago it looked as if Kings Island would be the LAST place to install a new ride. Thanks Cedar Fair... Thank you.

The big ones are Millennium Force, Top Thrill, Magnum, Raptor, and Maverick. Of course you should ride those, but the two that are classics and get passed by pretty often are Wildcat and Blue Streak. Be sure to ride those two! As for food, all I have to say is to check this place out: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sandusky-OH/New-Sandusky-Fish-Company/284506720839

What facts? A name and a picture of a windmill? Talk about jumping to conclusions...
-
We'll be getting them again for 2011. This was our first year with a Platinum Pass and we thought that they were worth every penny.
-
Yep, I myself can't wait for the announcement to come. Pillsberry123, who is planning on being a lunch major.
-
Remember that at this point, the only "fact" that we know is that they claimed the name Stratasoar. As soon as they did that, everyone started saying that it would be a Starflyer. Who's to say that they aren't putting out clues to throw us further off...
-
I picture it lasting as long as any elevator would. Why would they take it down?
-
On Cedar Point's facebook there is a picture of an old windmill under the "new for 2011" tab. Of course you have to be a fan in order to see it... A picture of a windmill could point to a Star Flyer, but of course they posted this after everyone said "Hey, I bet it's going to be a starflyer." Sigh...

I'll stand with people when they say that the bumpiness at the bottom of the hills on Diamondback is strong. I've ridden on both the inside and the outside many times, and the roughness at the bottom of the hills is there. I don't get where that "rattle" comes from, but I think it's getting stronger. Flight of Fear isn't bumpy at all. It's violent, but it isn't bumpy by any means. The "roughness" you feel comes from the lateral forces that throw you from side to side. I understand that the intensity of some rides can give people a headache, but I love it.

I would put KI in the moderate column, but I wouldn't expect a new ride. Work on SOB (repair or take down) will be what Kings Island will have coming for next year.
-
I could hold my hands up on every ride if I wanted to, but sometimes I'd just rather sit and enjoy the ride. I do on Diamondback, Firehawk (flying like I'm Superman), The Beast, and The Racer but most of the time I just sit with my hands in my lap.

What is that black stuff on the lap bars?
Pillsberry123 replied to Keysersoze's topic in Kings Island
Eh, the lap bars on The Beast look awful. The way the "black stuff" is, I doubt that it's just the paint wearing off. It's in spots, which makes me think it's some kind of growth (mold, moss, ect). The same stuff will grow on your deck if you don't treat it properly. Remember that the trains are out in the rain often, and are exposed to the moisture and outside elements all season. Some look cleaner than others, which make me think that they replace them one by one rather than all at once. -
In that case I think we could expect something of a moderate size going to several of the parks if not something big going to at least one of them.
-
If I'm correct, a large chunk of that money will have to go to paint jobs, general improvements, ect. for ALL the parks. Not all of a company's spending should go to getting new stuff.
-
I wouldn't consider Flight of Fear to be rough. It's more violent than anything. The track after the launch that leads into the "bowl" is smooth as can be, and this is a sign of a smooth ride. The reason it's violent is just because of how much stuff it does. Inversion after inversion will shake you around, especially when you don't know where you're going next. And I agree, lap bars are much better than ostrs unless the ride is built by B&M, which in that case it doesn't make a difference either way.
-
I'm with you there. As much as you all think that this is a starflyer, just remember that it's an idea that spread from forum to forum and now it's grown out of proportion. Remember that the only thing that could point this to being a starflyer is the name.

Has anyone noticed the rattling at the bottom of the hills getting worse? I don't remember them being as shaky last year.
-
Sigh... Mid-August announcement? Well, it's the 15th. Knowing that it's Cedar Point they're going to milk this for all they can. I'd be surprised it gets announced by the end of the month.
-
I wouldn't say that Cedar Fair will only install roller coasters while Kinzel is in charge. Cedar Fair has installed plenty of flats as well as added Planet Snoopys around the chain while he's been in charge.

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
Pillsberry123 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Screamscape could have easily heard it from a person on here...
