  1. I believe parts of the helix were retracked last year, so doing the turns before the 2nd lift would make sense.
  2. It doesn't look like coaster plans to me. If the area going underneath The Racer is the path going to the ride, then why is it a part of the "coaster's" circuit. And if the coaster's circuit starts right on the other side of The Racer, then that leaves no room for a line. There's also no lift hill, no station.. nothing. The next coaster in the Cedar Fair chain will either be in California or Sandusky. That's my prediction.
  3. Spending well over one hundred dollars for passes is a choice that many of us made last year and some even years before, and with the passes came a list of perks. Why spend the money if the perks change to something that we don't want? And what about the people who spent the money last year in the fall, who understood that they would be receiving ERT on Diamondback and The Beast? Not worth complaining about? I think not... So your saying if they annoucned in the Fall that ERT for 2011 would be on WindSeeker and Vortex that you wouldn't have purchased a season pass? Lame. I paid 165 for to renew my Kings Island Plantium pass, and I will be worth every penny of it. I'm going to Carowinds opening weekend, and then I know I'll be going to KI and CP as often as I can, and I may try and hit up Kings Dominion in 2011 too. So I'm as happy as can be. I'm not mad at the park for changing the ERT rides, like I said before they are much more things in life to worry about. There are also other things in life to spend 165 dollars on, so saying that you shouldn't worry about it is pretty redundant.
  4. The FAQ change pretty much confirms that Diamondback and The Beast are being removed from ERT, which is a shame. I'll be calling the park tonight, and I'd suggest other people do the same.

  6. I'm sorry, but this is a pretty big change. I realize people think that every change is small and doesn't really matter, but this really isn't. Most of our visits to Kings Island was simply getting there at 9, riding the Diamondback 3 or 4 times, riding The Beast 4 or 5 times, and riding 2 or 3 rides after the park opened. This pretty much changes everything about our visits to Kings Island, and one of the main reasons we planned on renewing the Platinum Passes in the first place. If they don't open Diamondback and The Beast, I'm not sure if renewing the passes are worth it... I say call them, send them messages on their website. KICentral is a pretty big site, and a lot of us on here go to ERT. Our opinion is pretty important.
  7. I agree with corn4ahead, I really hope that AZ gets a face lift next year. Get rid of that awful looking water tower, add some shrubs, and get the place looking right. Action Zone feels like a Wal-Mart parking lot with some rides in it.
  8. I've only eaten at the East of Chicago once, and that was after it seemed impossible to get service at the TGI Friday's at the Hotel Breakers. Didn't really care for the East of Chicago that much. Like you, Terpy, I'd rather go to some of the local dives and eat some Perch. And even after get off of Cleveland Road, the food options are pretty much endless.
  9. If sitting in a boat for 40 minutes is stressful, then how is that any different than sitting in line for 40 minutes. How is one stressful and not the other? If his condition was deadly, then what was he doing on an ride? All rides have warning signs that explain all of the dangers. What about the teenager who died a few years ago on the Rock and Rollercoaster at MGM studios. He died because he had a pre-existing condition. Not the parks fault. So there's no way to tell if it would have happened anyway... We do. Believe it or not, there's people who disagree with you. Welcome to real life.
  10. Rides are machines, and machines break down. A Small World isn't an intense ride, so it's not like a roller coaster train was stuck at the top of a hill or a brake run. This was an inconvenience more than anything. If you aren't satisfied with how a park handled the situation, you report it to customer service, ask for a refund, or spread your story to let others know. You don't sue, and the fact that it's taken him all this time to find someone to take his case should be a hint. Compare this to something at Kings Island. One day we were stuck on the brake run on The Beast for 15-20 minutes. We didn't even complain. Heck, you could compare sitting on a ride for 40 minutes to sitting in line for a ride for 40 minutes. We've all done that. Disability doesn't equal entitlement. These things happen, and if you aren't prepared then don't ride. Also, if his condition is triggered by stress, then what is he doing at a theme park in the first place? As I said, I don't see the difference between sitting on this ride for 40 minutes and sitting in line for 40 minutes.
  11. The more photos I see, the more excited I get! Not just for WindSeeker, but for the Coney Mall reworking. Can't wait.
  12. The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom! Classic ride. Great build-up and story. Best ride in the entire park imo!

  14. Great TR! I would like to go out to California one day, but that's a distant trip in the future I'm afraid.
  15. I see RC Cola everywhere. Just look next to the 7up. I actually prefer RC Cola to Pepsi. I love it.
  16. A hint about Son of Beast or something? I don't know.
  17. Omgsh guys I read somwhere that their taking down tha SOB and building a new drop zone tower called WindSeeker in itz place OMG But seriously every time I hear something new about SOB I just laugh it off. I'm not taking anything seriously about this ride anymore unless I hear it from Cedar Fair, and even then I'm going to have a hard time believing it!
  18. I cannot wait to see the new Coney Mall in person! Moving it back to a nice, high class amusement park area over the old, run down area it was last year sounds good to me! I can't wait to see what the pavers do to the area. It'll be like adding new carpeting to an old room. I'm waiting for the comments after opening day... "It's ugly, I liked the old asphalt better"...
  19. From a financial standpoint it was a waste of money. Like the ride for what it is or not, that's what it is. Many here (who were around back then) were fans of The Bat, but it was the same type of situation. When you have to waste money to excessively modify or remove a ride, then it was a waste of money. Especially when the ride's price tag was too much in the first place, and an equally marketable ride (or 3!) could have been built at the same time. Just like I305, it may be a good ride (from what I hear), but so far they've installed and removed trims and modified the first turn.
  20. You can't compare videos like this. Too many factors. I agree, everything from the conditions that affect the ride in real life (such as time of day and temperature) and things like the person taping the video and the kind of camera.
  21. The two single best things that Kings Island has done is build The Racer and build The Beast. The Racer sparked a huge amount of popularity in big coasters for the first time since the golden days of Brooklyn's Coney Island and old Cedar Point. The Beast set the standard for coasters for an entire decade until Magnum XL200 came along and completely rewrote the books. Kings Island as a whole has written itself as a local icon of the Cincinnati area where locals and tourist alike can come and enjoy a day at an amusement park, just like Coney Island did beforehand. I agree with you that the worst thing that they've done was build the Son of Beast, but this is purely from a financial standpoint. I understand that there are people who like the ride, but with the amount of money that has been spent on the ride, no one can say that it was worth building. I'd also argue that taking out the Antique Cars for a stunt track coaster was a pretty dumb decision, and the same can be said about the Flying Eagles getting removed for a basketball court...
  22. Flight of Fear is a "Spaghetti Bowl" coaster. The bowl is the very center of the ride on the floor. Things can be seen in the bowl when the lights are on, but it takes a good eye and you have to be familiar with the ride.
  23. I don't understand. Did Dick Kinzel put a curse on the ride to make it slower? If the brakes (which have always been there) are a mute point, then what has slowed it down significantly enough to lower the the top speed?
  24. I don't know what ride you guys have been riding, but during Halloween Haunt The Beast was kicking it pretty hard. High speeds, drops that never end, smooth as glass, the woods, the tunnels...
  25. Great photos! They really help a lot of us here deal with the offseason!
