I don't see them doing much. They'll promote it in the commercials on TV, "Our 40th year opening, come ride our rides" or something like that. I'm not expecting a new roller coaster or anything.
-
Well you have to keep in mind that just because they dislike the new attraction doesn't mean that they are "angry" with the park. Some just don't find it to be appealing. Just because they dislike something doesn't mean that they're spoiled brats, they just don't like it. I understand why someone wouldn't find this that appealing. Some voted down because it's an upcharge attraction, some voted down because they argue that the money could have been spent better elsewhere. There's a lot of reasons why someone might vote down on a poll, and the "iTz NoT a coAstEr" reason is far from the only one. Edit: After reading that it sounds a little rude. Sorry if it comes off that way, just my .02. For the record I voted "Good, but not blown away"

I'll do it once this season, but this won't really affect me that much. Like Boomerang Bay: It's there, I respect why it's there, I understand why people enjoy it, but it's not for me. Good idea for families, though. It's good to see that Kings Island is getting a lot of attention. This is the type of attraction that I'd only expect to see at a park like Universal.
-
I understand the upcharge. It's a LONG trail. I probably won't go through it that often, but I'd definitely do it once for curiosity. This sounds like a good attraction for families. Has it been confirmed that it will go under The Racer and back in the woods in that area (as shown in the "planning" topic)? I hope that it's not in a location where it is visible from all over the park.

Could be an announcement for Son of Beast, but I believe they would keep that as quiet as possible. Could be a new ride, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it announced before WindSeeker is finished.
-
As it's been said before, these pictures are almost always staged. Not only is it folded up, his hand is over it. Edit: Yeah CoastersRZ I agree that SOB will not be operating this year, and if it won't be it will not be on the park map. I think it's just something to make people wonder.
-
They have fun messing with us! Not only do they have the old SOB spot folded over, but his hand is over it.

Drop Tower does it for me. I don't like tower rides, and Drop Tower is pretty much the number one in that category. I'm pretty sure I'd ride Slingshot or Ripchord, but I don't like paying extra for rides.
-
I probably won't be visiting opening day, but I will probably be there the weekend after. I see myself going for WindSeeker and checking out Coney Mall first, heading for The Beast and Diamondback soon after the park opens, and then checking out Flight Deck. I'm anxious to see what has changed over the offseason.

Personal Belongings On Roller Coasters at KI
Pillsberry123 replied to KILateNighter's topic in Kings Island
Leave everything in the car! Use a long clip that attaches to a belt loop, attach your keys to the one closest to your side pocket, and put your keys in. That's the only thing I take into parks except for maybe a 20 dollar bill which I keep in a zippered pocket. -
Old Paramount (Viacom) vs. Cedar Fair Managments at KI
Pillsberry123 replied to KILateNighter's topic in Kings Island History
In the spirit of safety, this was a move that was necessary. Not necessarily. Big Dipper kept skid brakes up until it closed. It was more for the spirit of maintenance than safety. -

All Paramount did to The Beast was toss some lame sound effects and lighting onto the lift and into the station... Not to mention removed the original skid brakes and replaced them with much more noticeable magnetic brakes. -
Old Paramount (Viacom) vs. Cedar Fair Managments at KI

In my opinion, you can keep the excess theme, the movie attractions, and the Nickelodeon Characters. Ever since Cedar Fair took over, the park's much better about maintaining itself on a day to day basis. The park is a lot cleaner and the staff is more efficient. Cedar Fair isn't afraid to invest and improve, either. We've had 2 (soon to be 3) areas of the park improved and brought back to new, and Kings Island has gotten several new rides that wouldn't have happened if Paramount was still in charge. I'd rather have a good amusement park than a mediocre theme park. That's just me. Edit: Yes, you could argue that they've built nothing but thrill rides, but is adding anymore kiddie rides really that important? We've got one of the best kid's areas in the word with three roller coasters and several world class flat rides for kids, water rides outside of the kid's area that the whole family can enjoy, Adventure Express, Back Lot Stunt Coaster, and plenty of traditional flat rides that everyone in the family can enjoy. Not to mention The Racer and other mid sized rides found all over the park that satisfies everyone. -
If Son of Beast is planned to operate on April 30th I'm pretty sure we'd hear something before hand. I don't see them just opening the park and the ride and acting like the past 2 seasons never happened. They'd say something about it, or at least give hints about it, on Facebook. Of course this is assuming that it is going to operate April 30th, which I don't believe it will.

I'd go with Diamondback, The Beast, WindSeeker, and Firehawk. Diamondback, because it's very re-rideable, fun, and the park's signature steel coaster. The Beast, because it's probably the park's most iconic ride and can have long lines on certain days. Firehawk, because it always has long lines. WindSeeker, because it's the new ride. If the spacing out of the rides is a problem, replace WindSeeker with Flight of Fear and open X-Base on some days and open Rivertown other days.

It's a little late to reply but I was referring to Knott's Berry Farm.

A half a day in Soak City is about right. It's usually crowded after lunchtime, but the lines aren't usually super long. Remember that Challenge Park isn't included with the Platinum Pass, you buy tickets for each ride separately. How long should you stay if you plan on hitting all three parks? It really depends on the person. I could see someone spending a week at a resort and having a good time every single day. Like I said, 2-3 full days is what I recommend for the regular park. That will give you enough time to get in all of the Millennium Force, Raptor, and Maverick rides in during your early ride session. It will also give you enough time to check out some of the smaller things, like the museum in Frontier Town and Paddlewheel Excursions. My annual trip is Monday and Tuesday in mid-June. This makes a big difference in crowds. Weekends are typically crowded all year, but weekdays are typically pretty moderate unless it's in the middle of July or early August. Front Seat on Millennium Force will be an extra 15-20 minute wait (even during the early ride session that you get in the morning), but it's well worth trying on one of your days. The front seat on Millennium Force is my personal favorite ride in the park. Also, if you plan on riding Magnum, the best rides are in the middle of each car on the train (rows 2, 5, and 8) and the same goes for Gemini.

2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex

Then why do they spend time here? Did you not get the point of my post? False, ignorant, personal attack. Whatever it takes to make you happy I guess. -

Maybe not only because of enthusiast complaints, but I doubt that they had nothing to do with it either.... This just goes to show you how out of touch some enthusiasts are with reality. What? You think that it's crazy to think that a company listens to its customers. If a company is to survive it has to follow what its customers want, or at least go in the direction that the customers want. If it doesn't, it looses customers and dies. Period. Enthusiast have visited more than their share of amusement parks all around the country, so why the heck wouldn't a park listen to opinions coming from enthusiast? If you owned a Pizza Parlor, and sold a pizza to someone who has eaten Pizzas from all over the country (all over the world even), aren't you going to want to know their opinions and know how you compare? Business is all about competition. It isn't Roller Coaster Tycoon where you just throw around crap and hope it works. You take advice from people, you respond to competition, you listen to your customers. Kings Island has scouted this message board before. Why do you suppose they do this? Do you think they just do it on break? No. They do it to get opinions and ideas for improvement. They see it when someone post that they are excited about WindSeeker, they see it when someone complains about how they were poorly treated by an employee, and they see it when someone disagrees with a policy change. If they didn't care about opinions, they wouldn't pay someone to collect them. -

Maybe not only because of enthusiast complaints, but I doubt that they had nothing to do with it either. Could have been planned, waiting to happen. It just seemed off the wall considering that Coney is the area of the park getting all of the improvements, then suddenly the punch line of every ugly ride joke gets coat of paint. -

Yeah, Cedar Fair doesn't listen to enthusiast. And Flight Deck didn't need a paint job. -

Good to know more and more people are calling. Maybe the park can find a middle ground that satisfies everybody. I just don't see how boycotting WindSeeker is going to make Diamondback come back for ERT. Why not let someone at the park know your opinion instead of ruining your experience even more? I, like you, want the old ERT setup again. I don't understand why you wouldn't call the park and let them know your opinion instead of just going off on a tirade. Work with the park to get the experience you want, don't work against them. -
I really don't want to swim in wastewater—oh, you mean WAIST-high water! (I always find it amazing how a minor spelling error can completely change the meaning of something.) Thanks. And I'm not concerned about the separate admission charge; as I said, I would have a Platinum Pass if I do go up there. I'm actually thinking about mid- to late June. Mid to late June is my favorite time to visit Cedar Point! It's good to hear that you would have a Platinum Pass. This will give you early rides (ERT) on Raptor, Millennium Force, Maverick, and Iron Dragon (provided that the park doesn't change these). My suggestions: - Stay multiple days. 2 is minimum to fully experience it for the first time. - Staying in a resort isn't a requirement since you have a Platinum Pass. The main benefit to staying in a resort is that you get into the park an hour early and get the opportunity to ride the rides mentioned above before the general public is let in, but if you have a pass then staying on site isn't needed for this. However, if you want to stay close to the park, the Hotel Breakers is nice. If you don't want to stay in a resort, then I highly recommend the EconoLodge on Cleveland Road. It's only a 2 minute drive to the park. - Hit Millennium Force and Maverick during ERT, then run over to Top Thrill Dragster right before the park opens to insure that you get a ride without much waiting. If you DO get a ride on Raptor during ERT, make sure that you get a ride in the front seat. A front seat ride later in the day can cost you another 15 minutes of waiting, but it's usually a walk on if you get there right as the gates open an hour early. - The back of the park usually isn't very crowded early on in the day. The same is true for the front in the park later in the day. The majority of crowds start near the front and work their way back. - Maverick, Millennium Force, and Top Thrill Dragster will have long lines all day. - As long as you are in Sandusky, EAT SOME PERCH!

Boycotting rides is pretty ridiculous. I'm upset about this change and I feel ripped off, but I'm not about to handicap my visits to Kings Island by not riding something. If you feel ticked off about one thing, then why ruin the experience for yourself even more? Hendrick, it's good to hear that other people have been calling. Hopefully these "select days" will come pretty often. Perhaps open Diamondback and The Beast Saturday and open Vortex and WindSeeker every other day? Probably wishful thinking, but it's a thought. -

What if the hotel promised a business center with computer access, but there isn't any? What if the hotel promised wi-fi, but there wasn't any? What if they promise a free breakfast, but there isn't any? It's things like this that make people choose one hotel over another. Sure, you're still getting the main thing you paid for, but you're not getting the little stuff that you paid for. ERT on "two of the most popular roller coasters in the world" was one of the VIP Perks promised along with free parking. Suppose that 2 weeks away from opening day, they make an announcement that gold passes will give you cheap parking instead of free parking. Are we still not allowed to complain? Pretty hypocritical if you think that's worth complaining about.
