  1. I went to the park for a couple of hours last night (6/11) (8-10 PM) The red train was parked on the storage track, so they were only running the red train through the left station. I chose not to ride, since the one-train operation made the line a bit longer than I really desired. Oddly enough, Adventure Express was running all three trains, and they let me re-ride once without going back around. Vortex also allowed re-rides, but once was fine for me. I ended with The Beast tonight, just before they shut down temporarily because of the fireworks.
  2. I do remember seeing similar commercials for sister park Kings Dominion, if that helps... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5...dyke+commercial http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4...dyke+commercial http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5...dyke+commercial
  3. Expensive or not... and this looks like a show that took tons of time and money to put together... I'm looking forward to seeing it this weekend (along with another Firehawk ride).
  4. This is one reason why I prefer going to the park and doing Firehawk later in the evening. The line is dying down, and there's no rushing, hustling, and bustling to get on. Not to mention no waiting for the parking tolls to open, no wait at the metal detectors, then the park turnstiles, and then at a rope, and then potentially getting run over. Monday's experience is something I don't wish to repeat.
  5. I know how the situation feels... nobody WANTS to be the guy that's saying that Holiday World has problems. It's almost "sacred" in the enthusiast community, and to be fair, just about all that great reputation was earned. I've had a few BAD days at KI (or more accurate, PKI) in 2002, and some people I know didn't like me complaining about those bad incidents, because of the park's high status with enthusiasts. Complaining about Six Flags was A-OK, but NOT PKI! Some were fearful that enthusiasts, even at a careful and honest level, of complaining, would get the park to stop having events, goodies, and walkbacks. My hope is that rather than turning a blind eye to problems, they chose to listen. The dirty half of guest feedback needs to be listened to just as much as, if not more than, the happy half. The community here has had negative feedback towards KI because they want it to be better. Cedar Point fans want their park to remain on tops of fun and service - if not, management has a lot to hear. Even Disney parks get loads of complaints - from their BIGGEST fans!! Hopefully HW can maintain a decent level of humility and not get too cocky. Personally, Paramount got a bit cocky with their parks, especially KI and its kids/family attractions. At least with Cedar Fair, I can say it's been balanced out some this season.
  6. No, they were running just the yellow train on the left station tonight. The red train is now parked in the right side. I waited just over an hour, and rode in the back row tonight. And yes, I can vouch for the intensity. I'm on the far left... does that say "Intense," or what? I rode tonight, and had the same "intense" face! And yes, Robbie, I can understand the hard work that went into a DAAPworks project, but I just did a poster for the BUP for '05... you BS Arch guys have a whole model!!! Best of luck.
  7. I also voted for Flat Ride, but I doubt they'll do just a flat. A new water park attraction and a sit-down restaurant may also be in the mix. As for a new coaster, I see it happening 2009 or 2010, and there's a good feeling that it could be the park's long-awaited signature steel coaster. Sooo.... 2008 - Flat ride, and possibly water park attraction and/or restaurant 2009 - Major coaster or water park expansion or restaurant (if not '08) 2010 - Kids aea, water park expansion, or major coaster (if not '09) 2011 - Kids area (if not in '10) or flat or family ride
  8. I must say that the new Panda Express stand looks nice, they totally took out the old stand that was there, replacing it with one that looks like one at a mall food court. I agree that it's a bit steep for $14 with a drink, but Panda Express is still good food.
  9. I just got back from KI - I did NOT ride Firehawk today. I ddn't get to the park until around 1pm, where I headed straight for the water park. I went over to Firehawk around 3, and saw UncleHenry, CoastersRZ, ZosoBeast and Captain Nemo who had just gotten off. They had waited about 5 hours (they got to the ride at 10 am, but the ride didn't start until 1:30 or so. All I can say is that if you've ridden it as X-Flight or have a season pass, wait a day or so...
  10. I might be going tomorrow, but unfortunately, it won't be at opening time, but closer to noon. I'll most likely park at Boomerang Bay, go there for a couple hours, then go to the rest of KI and take some pics and maybe ride something...
  11. In fact, you've got less than two days to wait! http://www.cedarpoint.com/index.cfm
  12. One thing I'm curious about is if there will be a place to hold loose articles. When it was X-Flight at Geauga Lake, you couldn't leave loose articles in the station, though there were lockers at the ride's entry plaza. I hope this changes for the better at Kings Island.
  13. You might better expect one that comes reasonably close to fitting. Something tells me they will probably all be XL in adult sizes. I could be wrong, but remember this. It's incredible enough the park is doing anything for the first riders. A shirt is a very nice gesture, indeed. I went down to the UC Bearcats football spring scrimmage game last month (on KI's opening day), and they gave out a lot of T-shirts to fans (Bearcats on front, Kahn's on back), and they were XL adult sized. You could be right on this one.
  14. Yeah, I'm crushed that the monorail is gone. However I'm a bit surprised that they got the X-Flight site all cleared up and green, though IMO it should be re-allocated for parking.
  15. What makes this a "viscious" rumor? I think why Cedar Point didn't build any other B & M coasters since Mantis in 1996 could simply be, well, technology. While B&M is great for a lot of inversions and neat transitions, they generally don't go past the 200's in height. Cedar Point simply wanted 300' and 400' coasters, and Intamin was up to the challenge. And this is not to say that they didn't consider Walter and Claude for another ride at the flaghsip park. As pointed out earlier here, if Cedar Fair had a "no-compete" contract, then why did Six Flags build a floorless at (now) Geauga Lake? Then again, Six Flags could have possibly had a "no compete" on Floorless coasters at the time, as they built a couple Medusas at Great Adventure and Discovery Kingdom, then another Batman floorless at New England. And then again, Cedar Fair did build a floorless (Hydra) at Dorney in 2005. Or, it could have simply been a situation where Paramount Parks was not wanting B&M, because they were looking for more prototype "family" coasters that were different, though probably not as reliable or as good with capacity....
  16. Come on, everyone knows that Arrow coasters tend to sink!
  17. Obviously, I never intended this to be a political thread, and so far it pretty much isn't. You could say that Sean Hannity is controversial, just as Paramount (and related owners) were to Kings Island. I hope we can see several KIC'ers at this event, whether you like: Hannity, country music, or supporting the troops (and families)... one or two of them, or all three! Ronny: Come on and admit it - you love Brad Paisley! (j/k)
  18. How about when they run out of drinks?.
  19. Hell hath frozen over: Ryan finally went to Cedar Point! Seriously- glad you enjoyed it! I have to agree that Magnum is better than Millennium Force(less). However, did you miss Gemini? The park may not have been as busy as a weekend, which means it might not have raced. But when it does, THIS is a racing coaster!
  20. I, too am looking forward to this! Not only do I like listening to Sean, but also country music, and Montgomery Gentry is a great act! Apparently Mark Levin "GET OFF THE PHONE, YOU BIG DOPE" is supposed to be there too. And yes, the great cause, that allows children of fallen soldiers to get a college education! If you can't attend the concert, you can still donate to the Freedom Alliance. And if you happen to be in another part of the country, there will be four other Freedom Concerts this summer: Dallas, San Diego, Atlanta, and Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey.

  22. I'm guessing that you went today on 5/12, Saturday, not yesterday, Friday, 5/11? Yesterday was Math & Science Day, which was closed to Passholders and general public.
  23. Theme From "A Summer Place" From "A Summer Place" The theme From "A Summer Place" It's the theme...
  24. Did anyone notice the part of the commercial where the PKI logo is shown on the front of the car on Italian Job? On the newest commercial, the Paramount part was blurred out. Proof that Paramount is a Boob.
