  1. On the dining plan page, the name of Hank's Burrito Shack has reverted to Outerhanks (sic). I assume that this is an error. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/dining-plans
  2. If you purchased a new pass last fall, it would not be valid for the preview night because it wasn't a renewal. This preview event is for 2015 gold & platinum passholders who renewed for 2016 before the fall deadline.
  3. ^ Mobile-fied link for the convenience of ~60% of us: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/things-to-do/events-and-promotions/Gold-and-Platinum-Pass-Exclusive-Preview-Night?mobile=0 No mention of dollar deals on the event page as of right now.

    Project 2017?

Can we stop proposing plans that replace a large chunk of KI's remaining woods with a giga?
  5. ^ The exact quote from Tony via Twitter: @TheJohnBdeHaas: @TonyClarkCP Coastermania tickets today? Thanks! @TonyClarkCP: No - working on an error during testing. But I will post full details today.
  6. Cedar Point has posted CoasterMania details; tickets will be on sale next week soon. https://www.cedarpoint.com/events/things-to-do/events/CoasterMania?mobile=0
  7. Now, players won't have to think about how much money they're spending when deciding to test their skill and/or luck. The $20 spent (re)loading the card with points is quickly forgotten.
  8. ^ The ERT event is after park close in May, so summer heat shouldn't be a problem. The capacity of a single maze - especially one where people walk through in complete darkness - is rather low. I suspect that this is a just one-time preview, perhaps playing on the fact that it's Friday the 13th.
  9. ^^^ Park-provided photos need to be linked back to the original source, even if you found them somewhere else unsourced. That photo of the game card station was posted via the official KI Games Twitter account. https://twitter.com/kigamesdept/status/712702542682202112
  10. Facebook Inc. wants to keep users within its walled garden.
  11. At $100/head, one might hope they could build new attractions instead of putting "overlays" on classic rides. Especially at a park that is already short on things to do. If this happens, I'd probably need to figure a way to get back to FL before the original ride closes.
  12. ^^ Interesting; this is the first I've heard of such a policy change there. Assuming that a companion is required, it's nice that they'll send an associate to allow single riders to participate. Cedar Point requires two paid riders per launch.
  13. See the guest assistance guide: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/images/uploads/file/GAG%202015%284%29.pdf While SlingShot can be ridden solo, note that it requires a combined weight of 110lbs per launch. Riders weighing less than that would need to have a companion. SlingShot at Cedar Point always requires a companion.
  14. Some riders have trouble figuring out a seat belt. I can only imagine what must be happening on ride platforms with VR headgear.
  15. You asked the hand-holding question in this thread and got several responses. If you need more advice, I suggest bumping the original thread instead of making a new one. This way, those responding (as well as you) can read the original posts first.
  16. ^ Go on a midnight close date, and you've got two more hours after the fireworks.
  17. ^ Don't forget to include a link to the official park source when embedding media. With Twitter, you can click the timestamp (eg. 30m, 11:14, or Mar 11) to get a link.
  18. Cedar Point got a coaster the year after certification. If this is indeed the first year for KI, jdawg could be on to something.
  19. Cedar Point was first certified StormReady in 2012, as one of the first commercial sites to do so. Other Cedar Fair parks have followed suit; this may be the first year for Kings Island. I'm fairly certain that jdawg was being sarcastic.
  20. From https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/events-and-promotions Additional gold & platinum ERT nights are scheduled in June, July & August on other select attractions. The early Haunt preview certainly is interesting. (Appropriate, perhaps, for a Friday the 13th?)
  21. Prices start low and go up as the season gets closer. Also, it should be noted that Gold passes (free parking, access to operating days after Labor Day, and many other benefits) are no longer sold after Memorial Day weekend. The current prices are almost certainly the best you'll find on 2016 season passes. Your best shot at a "discount" might be to buy at a participating Kroger store during one of their 4x fuel points promotions. If you have a credit card that offers extra points/miles at grocery stores, you might consider that as well.
  22. If you're Terp (et al.), the other side of The Racer. If you're the park (et al.), Surf Dog.
  23. I'd venture to guess that already being loaded with debt makes the company significantly less attractive as a takeover target. I wonder how much debt the company would have in 2016, independently or merged with SIX, had the Apollo deal went through.
  24. It's Flash-free and even works on mobile devices. Cedar Fair's going to want some of that when driving business to a hotel. See Google, Expedia, TripAdvisor, et al. This is just a less-than-ideal way to do it. The base rates seem to be the same as the flexible rates offered on the hotels' own websites and travel aggregation sites. You just get to pay a 6% fee (undisclosed & lumped in with "taxes & fees") for the privilege of added cancellation restrictions & binding arbitration. Depending on when you cancel, it's possible to be stuck paying the vendor for a night that the hotel never bills for. Sites like Expedia generally don't charge for booking hotels; they instead pocket the difference between a wholesale rate and the retail rate they charge. This vendor has to make a profit (with much lower volumes than a site like Expedia) and pay Cedar Fair.
  25. The 'Places to stay' section of visitkingsisland.com now links to to a private label booking engine instead of to each hotel's website. Unfortunately, restrictive cancellation terms (in addition to the hotel's cancellation policy) are only revealed after clicking "Terms & Conditions" at the end of the booking process. As always, make sure to know what you're agreeing to before you click "I agree". Hopefully Cedar Fair gets this vendor to improve their policies and fee disclosures; people making an Ohio hotel reservation through an Ohio park's website probably don't want to go to binding arbitration in California.
