Roller coaster preferences certainly evolve and even alternate for many enthusiasts. I'd be hard-pressed to name my favorite thing to ride at any particular park. Still, coming from you, I'm shocked. That one multi-looping Toomer's still there, at least according to the 2016 park map.

My biggest concern with Haunt acting is the vocal stress of screaming for hours on end. This sort of thing can cause long term (or even permanent) damage. Hopefully, actors are trained to avoid overdoing it (and to rest their voice when needed).

The last car was made unavailable to riders following the 2014 incident involving smoke coming from an electrical panel, but it wasn't removed from the trains. All rows were again available to riders for the 2015 season.

What ride do you want to ride at Kings Island right now?
malem replied to Blackhole6670's topic in Kings Island
This thread seems to cover this topic, although it's more broad than just Kings Island rides: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/26887-what-ride-are-you-craving-to-be-on-right-now/ -
VR coming to 9 Six Flags Coasters

Depending on one's tax bracket, accepting a $1,000 retail value prize that's not worth nearly as much could be very unwise. -

If when there is a protein spill on this thing, any riders in its path might not know until it hits their face at 60mph. Hopefully people ride this with their mouths firmly closed. -
The bird poop isn't a problem, it's a feature!

<sigh of relief> I can only imagine how thoroughly these things will be "cleansed" each cycle with that process. If a guest drops and breaks one of these, I wonder whether he/she will be held liable. -
That Friday night (April 15) before Opening Day is probably a safe assumption, but I haven't seen confirmation of the date for this year's event from an official source. (Don did not mention a date in the post that you refer to.)

^ ScreamScape isn't always a reliable source. In the (seemingly unlikely) event of a delay, it would certainly be disappointing, but those attending this might enjoy lighter crowds with alternative ERT - and have a reason to stop by again later in the year.

Bumping, as today is the registration deadline. As for me, I'm still not sure whether I'll be able to make it (but planning to know very soon). A number of people from this site are going.

I-75 in Tennessee Closed (again)
malem replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
South of Squamish, BC in 2008, it took less than a week. Granted, there are more detour options in this case. -
^ As far as I know, except for the fact that attendees must have renewed their 2015 season pass before the fall deadline, details have yet to be announced. I'd keep an eye on the passholder portal.

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
malem replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You're buying the right to lease it for $1/year. Undoubtedly, there are certain events that would allow the landlord to terminate the lease, such as failure to perform maintenance, heat the house, or pay the property tax bill. -
I'd wager that very few guests know what exactly "giga" refers to in this context.

Note to self: don't plan night driving in this area. -
Be careful with non-refundable hotel reservations. If your plans change, or if you get a hotel that you don't want to stay at, you lose the entire deposit. Refundable reservations can often be made almost as cheaply if you do your homework. If you decide to use an opaque booking site like Hotwire or Priceline, note that they sometimes give out enough information to identify the hotel - or at least narrow down to a few possibilities. There are some properties in the Sandusky area that you most definitely don't want to stay at. To upgrade your KI gold pass to platinum, you would pay the difference between what you paid for gold (~$95 in the fall) and the current price of platinum ($204), which would be slightly less expensive than a Ride & Slide ticket with two days of parking ($80 + 4% Sandusky admissions tax + $30). Note that if you have a 2016 gold dining plan, upgrading that to platinum would cost around $40.

A "rooted" Android phone can do a lot of things. The QA person inside me was curious what would happen if I typed in the full code, even though the interface was limiting me to ~8 characters. That, and I wasn't patient enough to wait until April.
-
I linked my old-style pass to the app by overriding the length restriction on that field. Granted, very few guests would go to such extreme measures.
-
If you ask, they'll trade your card for a new one when renewing. (Or anytime, for that matter, if the pass is damaged or will no longer scan properly.)

The KI/CP combo ticket (sold online and, as of 2015, at select Kroger & Meijer stores) is a very good value. One day at each park works out to about the cost of a full-price GAD ticket. Soak City at CP really isn't worth the visit unless you're spending a few days on the peninsula & have time to kill. If you have a platinum pass, it can be a handy place to take a shower & change clothes after Thunder Canyon. If a young and/or inexperienced driver is making the trip, plan your timing & route carefully. Driving on two-lane highways is best done in the daylight, especially if it happens to be raining.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Fort Rapids hotel & indoor waterpark has been shut down by police. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/business/2016/02/22/Fort-Rapids-Waterpark-closed-by-police.html This property is the former Columbus Hilton, which has gone through financial difficulties & several owners since the indoor waterpark was constructed in the early 2000s. More from a local TV station's report last week; at least 32 people sick: http://myfox28columbus.com/news/local/abc-6-investigates-troubled-waters-at-popular-central-ohio-water-park
