There is no tax on admissions in Mason, Ohio.

The Best Lockers at Kings Island do not include a season rental option. For what it's worth, the Best Lockers at Zoombezi Bay do.

L.A. Times Interview With Matt Ouimet
malem replied to thekidd33's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Fans of Kings Island should be very glad that The Racer and The Beast still pack in the crowds as traditional wooden coasters. Walking onto Thunder Road on a Saturday in July was sad.- 24 replies

I wish I could have made it. With a doctor's appointment this morning, meetings this afternoon, & a prior commitment tonight - there was no way.

Sorry about your ankle! According to the 2015 guest assistance guide, "casts are not permitted on Banshee, Diamondback and Drop Tower." Additionally, no leg casts are permitted on Backlot Stunt Coaster or Flight of Fear. See Guest Services at the front of the park for a full list of attractions that you can safely ride. (Operators at certain rides may need to check that you were cleared to ride at Guest Services, so I suggest making your way there first.)

This project isn't being dropped without fanfare at 11pm on a Saturday night.

Six Flags Great America announcement (Sept. 3)

Building a clone of Rolling Thunder in that park might not get Terp through the gates. -
Geauga Lake land will be sold -- in pieces

... contracted out to third part(ies). -
^^ The Beast's (narrow) queue can be an interesting experience after dark when the lights don't get turned on.

KI's mazes attract large crowds, so capacity is a factor in their design. Whatever the design, I predict that people will keep moving (unless they pay for a Skeleton Key room). Hopefully not; KI doesn't permit electronic devices to be used inside mazes.

Carowinds' Thunder Road to race no more
malem replied to jsus's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Paramount Parks Inc still exists as a subsidiary of Cedar Fair named "Cedar Fair Southwest, Inc" and is still the corporate parent of Carowinds. Many of the individual parks have been transferred to their own entities, such as "Kings Island Company". Thunder Road was well-maintained until the end. -
International Street Pizza definitely is LaRosa's (in name at least). See also Rivertown and the Festhaus.

^ You get either the new pass benefit or the renewal benefit, not both. (i.e. If you buy a new platinum pass, you can use it for one free fall 2015 visit, but you don't get renewal perks. If you renew your gold pass as platinum for 2016, you get renewal perks, but you don't get a free visit.) To add to electricsun's answer to homestar's question, payment plans can be managed at http://visitkingsisland.com/payments (substitute the appropriate Cedar Fair park's site if you didn't buy the pass at Kings Island)

^ 2015 gold to 2016 platinum can be done as a renewal. You would retain gold benefits (plus renewal perks) in 2015, and you would get platinum benefits in 2016.
-
Renewal perks are offered for all pass renewals in the fall, including an upgrade from 2015 gold to 2016 platinum. 2015 regular (silver) passholders do not get renewal perks in the fall, but they can buy a new 2016 gold/platinum pass and get one free fall 2015 visit (and unlimited fall 2016 visits). Just so it's abundantly clear, if you renew a 2015 gold pass as 2016 platinum, your platinum benefits (admission & parking at other Cedar Fair parks) don't start until 2016. Likewise, if you renew a 2015 platinum as 2016 gold, you can still visit other Cedar Fair parks until the end of this season.
-
Last season, you were able to do this on visitkingsisland.com or at the park as a simple renewal (gold->platinum or platinum->gold). You would then need to get your pass replaced at the processing center so that it has the appropriate pass level printed on the front. As I understand it, regular passes can't be renewed as gold or platinum. (They expire after Labor Day, and next year's gold or platinum pass would be considered a new pass.)
-
EDIT: Oops, posted the wrong reply in this spot. Carry on.
-
Platinum is currently $180 for renewed passes or $189 for new passes. For renewals, this is the same price as in the fall of 2014 and the fall of 2013. These prices are certain to increase, perhaps substantially, after the fall sale ends. Dining plan prices will go up as well before the season begins.

Know your competition... For the sake of fair skinned people everywhere, I do wish sunscreen included with admission would catch on, especially in waterparks. It's hard to apply it often enough when returning to a vehicle or locker is required. Guests who get a painful sunburn and increase their cancer risk probably aren't having a "best day".

^^ (Obligatory note about the current USD/CAD exchange rate for those planning to visit a park way up north.)
-
KI traditionally offers ACE members the final ride(s) of the night on The Beast, just after the line is cut. Check with them closer to the date to see what KI has planned this year. ERT procedures probably won't be announced until the day of. Since they will be selling pass renewals that day (with ERT that night as a benefit), my guess is that they will strictly enforce the eligibility requirement. (Handstamp, wristbands, etc)

Looking at the season pass store: Passholders now have the option to upload or capture a pass photo when purchasing or renewing online. Pass prices at Cedar Point are now exclusive of the (currently 4%) Sandusky admissions tax. The online store now lets platinum passholders renew at a different park than the one that issued their pass.

(Labor Day weekend drive to SFNE not included.)

With the fall sale, a gold pass is only $2.50 more than a two-day ticket ($62) and two days of parking ($30).
