  1. Nope. The two can and did coexist. When they did, Action Theater was in the left half of the building (Blue Racer side), while Urgent Scare was and still is in the right half of the building (Red Racer side).
  2. Nothing's been announced yet. There's plenty of speculation in this thread; the leading guess right now is a new restaurant (perhaps a smokehouse to go with the one in Soak City).
  3. The fee is bull****. That's what the fee is. Nothing but a way to grab extra nickels. Oh look, Kinzel's influence is still around.
  4. Too late. We've already interacted and shaken hands.
  5. From the blog on the park's website: "Finally, from time to time we have to move things around or even remove them completely in order to look to the future. Stinger, which came to us from our sister park California's Great America in 2012, will be removed to make room for future planning opportunities. We don’t have details to share right now, but we are working on future planning and development of the park." https://www.dorneypark.com/blog/2017/december/changes-at-the-park
  6. That's why the driving in Ohio is better in the winter than in the summer: all the potholes are filled with snow!
  7. "Probably"? PROBABLY?!?! I don't know how you can even THINK of being out tomorrow night without a coat.
  8. But will you dress appropriately for the weather?
  9. The roast beef was way too rare for my tastes. Definitely would have been nice to have the turkey available. Overall, I think the food was really good, but not quite worth the price. That may be because I have a small appetite, though; I rarely eat more than one plate at a buffet. However, the view makes up for the price, even more so if you've never been in the International Restaurant before (like I have several times, but never at night during Winterfest).
  10. @IndyGuy4KI @malem Can we move this thread to the Kings Island forum, since it is no longer a "coming attraction"?
  11. And as I said, the solution to that is NOT to get rid of the single rider line entirely. The solution is to properly train the employee assigning seats to deny such requests. It's that simple. Deny those requests, and the problem disappears.
  12. So does anyone here know what time International Street opens on Saturdays now? I'll be visiting with my mom on the 16th, so I need to know.
  13. That would be a question for ACE's upper management. I could see a case being made for removing the plaque if a ride was modified to such an extent that it became an entirely new coaster, as is often the case with RMCs, but I don't know exactly how that would be handled. I can't see them totally revoking the award, but more likely (assuming they choose to do so) removing the plaque from the ride entrance and updating the list on the ACE website to just list the original ride as defunct, without transferring it to the new version of the ride.
  14. I'm honestly not sure whether I prefer(red) Georgia Scorcher or Mantis (the only two stand-ups I've ridden). Both were/are pretty good rides.
  15. Wearing shorts and a t-shirt in 30- to 35-degree weather is ill-advised.
  16. The video in question (which I've seen several times on Facebook) was also filmed by a rider next to him in direct violation of the policy prohibiting use of cameras on rides. So I personally wouldn't use a video demonstrating a blatant violation of safety rules as an example of how safe rides are.
  17. ACE Landmark status is a designation of historical importance and is permanent. It can't be lost by making changes to the ride. You may be confusing ACE Landmark status with ACE Coaster Classic status, which can be rescinded based on changes to the ride (as happened to Woodstock Express at KI and Blue Streak at CP).
  18. Not quite. Regardless of the number of seats on the train, the need for single riders is driven almost entirely by the number of groups in the regular line with an odd number of people (assuming each row has an even number of seats). It is almost exclusively those groups that create the holes that are filled from the single rider line.
  19. I don't see anything wrong with a small group using the single rider line, provided they understand and agree that they will not get to sit together, and very likely not all be on the same train. My group of five used the single rider line last night and waited 5 to 10 minutes instead of 90 minutes. In doing so, we did not in any way make the wait time for those in the regular line longer, because we never took a seat that otherwise would have gone to someone in the regular line. Instead, we rode separately, filling seats that otherwise would have just been left empty. That's the core point: as long as groups are willing to split up and fill holes rather than ride together, it does not in any way impact the regular line. The only potential form of "abuse" would come from a group going through that line and then asking to ride together, but the solution to that is properly training the employee handling seat assignments to deny such requests. In short, the single rider line is not solely for people who are by themselves with no one else accompanying them. It is for anyone willing to be treated as a single rider for seat assignment purposes.
  20. I still don't know how @malem does it. I was wearing a jacket, and a couple hours into the night, I stole his jacket and wore it as an extra layer over my own jacket until right before we went out on the ice because I was so cold.
  21. I would expect a wooden fence with teaser signs. Just my guess.
  22. That contains a loophole ripe for (ab)use: tell the first worker that you want nothing on it so they put extra mac, then "change your mind" at the next worker and say you "decided" you want toppings. I don't think that would go over real well. Especially if everyone started doing it.
  23. Interesting. Are they using the Fast Lane queue for that? I would definitely make use of that, though I wonder how many people will abuse it like was done on Diamondback before the introduction of Fast Lane.

Ah, that. I noticed on my very first visit to Cedar Point in 2011, and apparently it hasn't changed since, that the ride cameras take a separate photo for each row rather than for each car like at Kings Island. On that first visit, my first thought upon realizing this was that it was a blatant money grab, and indeed, that's exactly what it is. Groups of more than two usually have to buy twice as many photo prints if they want their photos at Cedar Point than at Kings Island. On no evidence whatsoever except his affinity for nickels, I blame Dick Kinzel.

This is why, whenever possible, I always went to the photo booth attendant to get the picture added and never the kiosk. The attendant can zoom and crop the image before the "frame" is added. On one occasion, an attendant was able to take my photo, which she had censored on the overhead screens due to someone in the back row flipping off the camera, and zoom in on me in the front row to eliminate the inappropriate action from the picture so I could add it to my account.
