Yeah, "WTF?" you ask? In the past hour and a half, two different anonymous users have changed the Backlot Stunt Coaster article on Wikipedia to say that the Kings Island version is SBNO. I have undone both edits as no source was provided by either user. Does anybody know if BLSC was down today, and if so, for how long? I'm thinking these users may have seen it down temporarily today and assumed that it was down long-term. I wasn't there today, so any information about this that you can provide me with will help me fight these edits. Thanks. EDIT: Removed "BLSC" from the title to use this thread for general discussion of edits on Wikipedia.

Or loses, depending on your point of view.

We had an off day today for some reason. It was a perfect day to go though. I get out the 23rd I got out the 23rd too, and I have an off day Friday...for some reason. lol. Wow! I want to go to your schools! Mine doesn't get out until the 29th. You should feel lucky. Xenia schools don't get out until June 4. Thankfully, it's been eight years since I've had to deal with that (actually nine since the seniors get out about two weeks earlier than the rest of the students).

The way I understood the article, no one is faking a disability. They're only faking that the actually disabled person is a member of their family/party. Or at least that's how I read it.

Unfortunately, there are no weekday shows during the month of May. Shows in May are limited to Saturday, Sunday, and Memorial Day.
-
Skip it. On a May weekday, the lines will not be anywhere near long enough to make it worth your money. You should be able to ride everything with no problem, possibly multiple times, without getting it. The only time I would recommend Fast Lane is on a Saturday or major holiday.

Oh, yes. I forgot about the locker policy on Firehawk. Absolutely no purses or bags are permitted in line for Firehawk, and the only things that can be left in the station are flip-flops, prescription glasses, and souvenir cups. Everything else must be left in a locker or with a non-rider. If you decide to tackle the water rides, White Water Canyon's line is usually the longest of the three, and is very hard to judge without experience waiting in line due to how far back in the woods it is set. Don't trust the wait time sign, as anyone can (and sometimes does) just walk up to it and spin it to whatever they want to. Hint: Before crossing the bridge over the water channel, there is a long straight stretch of queue where the exit path runs parallel and very close to the queue; a line extending through and to the end of that straight section is roughly 30 minutes. The log flume usually has a bit of a line, but not too bad. Unlike WWC, you can see the entire line from the midway, so it's fairly easy to judge. Congo Falls never has a line except on hot, busy Saturdays, and you can get wet totally drenched on the exit bridge with no wait or ride at all (great if someone in your party wants to get wet but is too chicken to ride anything).

Holiday World Crowds
jcgoble3 replied to frisbeefan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They were very light on the dry side of the park. Friday saw waits around 10 to 15 minutes at most for the woodies, while Wildebeest had what looked like about a 30-minute wait in the regular line (though I got on in 5 to 10 minutes through the single rider line) and the major slides had 15 to 20 minute waits IIRC. Saturday, I rode nothing but water rides until around 5:00 because of the heat, so can't help ya on the woodies, but even with the high temperatures, the water rides on the dry side of the park (including what used to be Pilgrim's Plunge) only had about a 20 to 30 minute wait IIRC. In 2012, with the cold temperatures, I literally walked on to the Voyage around 6:00 Friday evening. That should clue you in to the crowd level that day. Saturday, with temps finally reaching the low 70s by afternoon, the Voyage had a longer line that had been routed into part of the queues under the station. I estimate it was around 20 to 30 minutes, though I didn't wait in that line. -
Millie, Maverick valley at CP

Firehawk and Flight of Fear, particularly the former, can sometimes get long lines even on slow days, so hit them first right as the park opens. From there, skip Vortex for now as it rarely has a long wait and go to Backlot Stunt Coaster instead before its line gets long. After that, you can pick and choose what you want to do. Invertigo has a slow-moving line, so if you see less than a 10- to 15-minute wait for it, take advantage. Delirium and Drop Tower can get long lines sometimes, but usually aren't too bad on a May weekday. Diamondback and The Beast are the most popular rides and thus usually have relatively long lines; however, both lines move very quickly. Vortex's line moves quickly (as I previously mentioned) and also has a very short queue; a line all the way out to the midway and spilling out the entrance is only about 20 minutes, maybe 30. The Racer is not likely to be running both sides on an understaffed school day (the park relies quite heavily on high school students for staffing), but still usually has a short wait and moves people through fairly quickly. Adventure Express and Flight Deck will probably have no wait at all. For lunch, I recommend Hank's Burrito Shack, which is very good food for some of the most reasonable prices in the park (if you get guacamole on your entree, it's actually cheaper than Chipotle). Panda Express in the Festhaus is also good. For a full-service sit-down meal, the Reds Hall of Fame Grille has good food for decent prices, as well as the cheapest soft drinks in the park. Hope you have fun, and welcome to KIC!

Holiday World Crowds
jcgoble3 replied to frisbeefan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Dammit, look what I've started! I've had similar experiences on the same day (which is HoliWood Nights weekend), except that last year everything in the waterpark was a complete walk-on. That may have something to do with the temperatures being in the mid-60s, though. 2011 had temps in the upper 90s that weekend. I'm hoping this year we'll have something between those two extremes for weather that weekend. -
Most Embarrasing Thing That Happened To You At KI
jcgoble3 replied to KIMonster14's topic in Kings Island
Did I start a bump-fest? I haven't really had anything truly embarrassing happen to me at KI. The closest would be walking into one of those posts in the parking lot designed to stop cars from driving up the pedestrian walkways (the ones that are several inches in diameter and about three feet tall), but the crowds were so light that no one really noticed. Way to represent the site. -
The Entrance to The Beast (Bring Your Camera)

Thanks! Now I have a better idea of what people are talking about when they mention The Beast's entrance being moved a few years ago. -
The Entrance to The Beast (Bring Your Camera)
jcgoble3 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
MEGA-BUMP! Found this thread while searching for something else, and it got me thinking. Since I didn't start going to KI as an adult until 2010 and have few memories of my visits as a kid in the mid-90s, I'm curious what the difference between The Beast's entrance and exit is between 2008 and 2013. In other words, what exactly changed to accommodate Diamondback? Pictures of the 2008 version would be appreciated; there's one above, but I'm not seeing much of a difference between it and the current setup other than the removal of the drink machines on the right. -
Yes: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25563-Delirium-acting-strangely/ (discussion of it actually being down begins at post #28)

In the same day. How does Millennium Force valley? It's so fast all the way through the ride (at least how I remember it) that I can't figure out how the train could lose so much speed. Oh, and Woodstock Express apparently valleyed yesterday. Photos taken from the GOCC Facebook page, credit to GOCC President Cathy Schwab. Maverick train being winched through the course: Millie train stuck on the island: GOCC is reporting on Facebook that the Millie train will be disassembled where it sits rather than being winched through the course like Maverick and WE. Anybody with a clue care to explain why they would do that?

Dinosaurs Alive! is not in the way, as it is on the opposite side of X-Base. The others you mention are valid points, however.

Steel Dragon 2000 receives B&M trains

THIS × 1,000. This is why Magnum ranks near the bottom of my coaster list. It is the only truly painful ride I have ever ridden. -
I find it interesting (and a bit disquieting) that some skinnier people are reporting issues with the restraint being too tight. I'm 5'6" and about 140 to 150 pounds. "Bulking up", as one rider was told to do, simply won't work for me because I probably couldn't keep the weight on if I tried. I was all pumped and set to toss Gatekeeper up toward the top of my coaster rankings after CoasterMania. Now it's looking like it may join Magnum (the only truly painful coaster I've ever ridden) at the bottom of the list.

Link was posted in another thread with a specific topic, but I'm starting a new thread for general discussion. http://seekingalpha.com/article/1415391-cedar-fair-s-ceo-discusses-q1-2013-results-earnings-call-transcript?page=1 Two things I found interesting: First, although it is early and the numbers are still small, that most who buy Fast Lane are buying the Plus upgrade. So it might not have a significant effect on the Fast Lane lines for the Plus-only rides. Again, it is early, as was said in the call. Second, they are testing pre-loaded cash wristbands, like Holiday World has, at Dorney Park with an eye to implementing them chain-wide. I'm interested to see how well this works; I've always gotten a wristband when I go to HW because trying to work with cash and wrangle change in a fanny pack is more than a bit annoying and can hold up the line.
