Thanks for the replies to my question. Me neither.

What rides currently at KI are from Intamin? I honestly can't keep track of most of the manufacturers, particularly the flat rides.

Hopefully you don't get bored there for 3 days. 3 hrs was long enough for me there. Plenty to do: http://www.holidayworld.com/clubs (The third day to which I refer is Sunday morning, when I will likely exercise my newly purchased season pass for a couple of hours before making the four-hour drive home.)

Or, if you believe what Paula has said, the trains simply aren't being delivered in time to complete testing. Latest official word, from Paula via the HoliWood Nights Facebook group, is that more testing of the Timberliners will commence following the conclusion of the daily portion of the 2013 operating season, when they have time to do so. I'm holding out a sliver of hope that we'll get them eventually, possibly even for Halloween Weekends this fall, but at this point I'm thinking that it's unlikely we'll ever see them.

I just received the FUN annual report and nothing is broken down financially by parks. 25M is probably within shouting distance; but that is a guess on my part. Gatekeeper was $25 to $30 million: http://www.sanduskyregister.com/article/cedar-point/2373156

To beat the lines at Holiday World, hit the waterpark first thing in the morning when it opens before the big crowds get in there later in the afternoon. Then around 12:30 or 1:00, as the general public migrates to the waterpark, you can head back to the dry side and enjoy short lines for the coasters during the hottest part of the day. The waterpark has a lot of stuff to do; since you're going there for two days, make use of that and don't think you have to ride everything on the first day. Save some of the slides for the second day. With regard to flat rides, Liberty Launch is IMO the best one at HW. Don't miss it.

It's a Flickr slideshow, which uses Flash.

I thought pennies were beneath Kinzel. Wasn't he all about the nickels?

I'll be there on the afternoon of the 6th as well. Plus the morning of the 8th, at least for ERT.

I'll be there that day for CoasterMania. As far as crowds, much depends on the weather. On Friday, June 24, 2011, the park was relatively dead, with waits under 30 minutes for Millie, Maverick, and TTD, due to overcast skies, off-and-on rain showers, and a threat of thunderstorms. The whole week had been the same way. And that was well after schools let out for the summer. Now if the weather is sunny, high 70s, and no chance of rain that day, you could have hour-plus lines for the aforementioned rides. So as I said, a lot will depend on the weather.

The Xenia, Ohio, Walmart doesn't try either. I've see birds flying around on the grocery side before. They just put up netting around the leafy greens in the produce cooler to keep the birds away from them when that begins to become a problem. Just one reason I've stopped buying food there.

You slept until 2pm? Even I don't sleep that late. (And I have to be up at 5am Friday to leave for HW. I'm so NOT looking forward to being up that early.) Thanks for sharing!

As a former journalist. If you cant show your sources, then it cant be believed. Covering your source, for legal reasons is one thing. But that usually does not carry any weight. When a source is named, then its believable. Plus a source that leaks info is either not a good source or is trying to gain something. I do not want to get my source fired. I think that is a good reason to not disclose. I have tried to stay out of this, but I can no longer hold my tongue. Let's be a little clearer: The Terms of Service require that when posting any information claiming to be from a inside source, you must include the name of the source. Period. There is presumably a specific reason for this requirement. You have stated the information, now please name the source as required by the TOS or retract the information so we can move on. Otherwise, I may ask the moderators to take action.[/rant]

That's my best guess too.

Thursday. On Friday, you'll have people taking the day off work to create a three-day weekend. The same is also partially true on Mondays. Mid-week—Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday—will almost always be the lightest crowds, barring holidays or special events.

I can't mark my calendar if I don't know what date to mark. Just sayin'...

https://www.facebook.com/kingsislandcentral/posts/10151516037046723 OK, what's going on?

As a former employee of the Rivertown Potato works, I can attest to how busy it can be. I had the fortunate (or unfortunate) timing of my first days being over the 4th of July weekend in 2004. That and among other weekends we had lines extending all the way across the midway. It got really bad when there's a train rush from when the water park closed for the evening (or just the train pulling up in general). There was also the fact that one who worked there came out smelling like peanut oil, which I kind of got used to. Lots of shenanigans as well to make it interesting. Interesting. I may give them a try next month.

I've actually never had Potato Works. Mainly because I just don't care for french fries.

References to The Princess Bride are always funny in my book.

Son of Beast was an abysmal failure. I highly doubt they will replace it with anything that the general public could possibly confuse with SOB. They most likely want SOB to be the furthest thing from the minds of park guests. That means anything wood is almost certainly out of the question. EDIT: Also what DontWantToWait42mar0 said.

The first four in 2011 were announced by the respective parks as $5 million. The two that opened in 2012 were announced as $6.5 million. We don't know why the last two cost more. My best guess that the official cost of the last two factored in the unplanned modifications such as the hydraulic dampers that had to be added to the first four.

I believe souvenir cups are one of the very few items that can be left in the station on Firehawk (the others being flip-flops and prescription glasses).
